Comments about ‘Jacobson preps for new mission at BYU’

If Collie and Pitta both stay, Max Hall will have Collie, Pitta, Jacobson, George, and Chambers to throw to. With Unga at RB, and Hague and Tonga at FB, this could be an extremely powerful offense, more powerful than 2006!

BYU will roll through the MWC next year, 8-0 in conference play, including a whooping of Utah, who loses all their key offensive starters from this year. Utah will be in rebuild mode, and BYU will by in Overdrive mode, all the way to another MWC Championship!

With all of the 4 and 5 star recruits like Collie and Jacobsen that Bronco is recruiting is why in the next few years, the Y will win the NC and probably be invited to join the PAC10

Hopefully Jacobson is able to condition quickly because he was an exceptional receiver his freshman year. If Collie comes back I hope Max learns to spread the ball around in the offseason because Jacobson was a deep threat on any given play like Collie. We'll see what happens, it should be fun.

I'm not the BYU fan that predicts 8-0 seasons in the MWC. It is a tough league. BYU will need to be very, very consistent in order to finish in the top three next year. Utah and TCU will be extremely loaded. The league is very competitive. I'm anxious to see what we have on the table next year and to see if Hall can manage to complete passes against winning programs. If that can happen, BYU will have a great year. They will NOT go undefeated. Looks like we'll have Oklahoma and Florida State. Tough way to start a season. No one will say BYU didn't schedule tough next year....oh, unless Oklahoma and Florida State come out and lay eggs. Then BYU will be criticized for it's schedule ala this year with Washington and UCLA. Who knew.

Sorry Rhett, I am a strong BYU fan but your hyperbole on BYU winning a national championship and being invited to join the PAC10 is an example of BYU fans being out of touch with reality.

First, even if BYU went undefeated it would not be in the National Championship game. The big conferences are not going to allow that to happen, period. And anyone that things different needs to get a reality check.

Second, the PAC10 is not expanding and the Sunday play issue makes BYU a non-starter. Couple that with the Prop 8 issue and there is no way BYU will be playing in that conference.

The only way for BYU, and Utah, to ever get into a NC game is either a playoff system or the MWC to get an auto bid to the BCS. That is reality and no amount of wishful thinking will change it.

In order for BYU to win a national championship they would need to go undefeated in a massively convincing way 2 or 3 years in a row, then maybe!

Outside of that, no chance at all.

And while BYU may have some great offensive skill players for next year they are going to be breaking in 4 new offensive linemen. This means that they will struggle to perform. Sadly, if we do play Oklahoma the first game they will get broke in real fast. I hope it is a great learning experience for them.

Next year should be another decent year for BYU. Both Utah and TCU come to Provo, giving us the advantage. And from there we have the rest of the MWC schedule, so looks to be another 10 win season. If we schedule Oklahoma lets not get too excited, as there is little chance we will win. Who knows though, that's why we play the games.

In any case, I hope Collie and Pita stay and we make a decent season out of it. And we get some speed on defense.

I kind of hope Collie does leave, that way Hall will be forced to look around. Yes, it would be better if Hall just learned to check off, but with Collie out there, why throw to anyone else?
I seem to remember Beck not checking off too much his Junior year either. He came back his Senior year with his head on a swivel.

Collie was a 3 star and Jacobsen was as well (I believe). not saying they aren't great players and have produced more than many 4 and 5 star talents (esp Collie) but they weren't ever rated that high

I love stories like this about how a blazing fast player is coming to BYU. So much for the disadvantage with the Honor Code & such. No way this kid plays for a random Rocky Mtn region team without the religious affiliation. Kid would be playing Big 12 football if not for that. So much for the "Disadvantage" the Cougars always claim to have in the recruiting game.

Austin Collie is one incredible receiver. I wish him all the best should he decide to go pro, and I would certainly understand his reasons for doing so. (It would then actually watch a pro game once-in-awhile.) If he stays, he well could win numerous national awards and increase his stock in the NFL. BYU fans appreciate his work ethic, determination, and leadership. It would be great to see him play his senior year for the Cougars.

Whatever his decision, I will always be an Austin Collie fan.

Reality check! #1-The cougs only have one starting O lineman returning. That could be problimatic. #2- Unless the coaching staff figures out a way to put some pressure on the other team's QB and gets some speed at D-back we could finish forth.

Max Hall will have a great year the BY just needs to change the uniform to red. Best player Utah had on the field that day was the mad man. Best player the other team that beat them had was Max. Can't remember the name of the team or that bowl game they played in. Go to the pros Collie 5-7 round draft pick

Get those chickens out (utah has plenty) and start practicing speed and agility.

I lived in Oklahoma for 12 years and I can tell you that, as much as I love the Cougars, they can't compete with Oklahoma. I think that the Cougs will have an excellent offense, but unless they get some MAJOR speed on defense, there is no hope for them. You can execute all you want on defense, but when you are slow, you will pay the price. I look for BYU to finish second in the MWC next year. We are tops in our conference (almost always THE top), but outside of that we are middle of the road.

My comments are ditto to john's above. Out of touch fans begin each year with predictions of BYU winning the NC and moving to the PAC10 only to be disappointed and then turning on the team and coaches by the end of the year. Why not lower the expectation to reality and hope for a great year and root all the way through.

Sure there is hope we could beat Oklahoma and/or Florida State. I remember watching the National Champs Miami being beat by BYU at the beginning of the season in 1990. So there is always hope but keep your feet on the turf.

Having your head on a swivel is not usually a good thing. That typically means you are watching your back because the Left Tackle keeps missing blocks. Lets hope that isn't the case.

Next year will be an interesting one that is for certain.

That's right, unless Rhett is as delusional, his comment was tongue and cheek. He's just playing off the hype machine that (quite a few, although not all) BYU fans turn into during the offseason.
