I was really glad to see Sloan call a time out and get Krover out of the game. As soon as Sloan got the specialist with no apparent specialty out of the game and got his top scorer and leader in steals back in the game it turned around quickly.

Absolutely love the kid from Akron. I would take him over Greg Oden any day.

I was a little confused as to who took over Fess's body and strung 16 highly productive minutes together.

CJ like most guys that played tonight played really well.
Miles Ahead | 12:59 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Larry got his money's worth out of CJ and Brewer tonight. I hope they can keep it up.

Has anyone seen Kryl Krover?
Euro value dropping | 1:09 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
I was really enthused about Ak's defense tonight but then I realized that the only "star" that A.K. can shut down is another Europeon. They just don't make tough players on the other side of the pond.
Just ask Memo

Thanks to Phil Johnson | 1:13 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Sloan called a time out and took the most over rated player in Utah Jazz history out of the game so that we could start playing team defense, and run our offense. It was almost too late when Phil motioned for Brewer to get back in the game. Thanks Phil for assisting your coach.

Does anyone know if Philly does refunds?

I know Wal Mart does

Round em up | 1:20 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Would someone please round up the mentally impotent, and cerebrally stunted basketball neophyte who was spewing garbage on this site yesterday about Miles not belonging in the DLeague and sit him down for a film session.

I admit | 6:37 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
I was one of those people who didn't give them any chance to win that game -- great performance!
Miles | 9:15 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
CJ gets trashed the most of anyone on the Jazz and yet the worst players are Korver and Harpring. They are wannabes. If Sloan could coach during the game instead of cuss and sit people down, the Jazz would be a dangerous team. What did Harp or Korver do last night, yet he plays them down the stretch. CJ will have good and bad games but the incompetent daily posts by one individual will continue. D league, give me a break.........
Bankshot | 9:23 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
The boys played with heart and without the heartless. Great Game!!
Magnus | 9:31 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Great game last night. This is the way we should play every night. It was a team effort.

I agree with Miles. Why the hate directed daily at a real nice kid with lots of talent in a tough position. I think Miles is right on schedule.
page | 9:34 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
i was happy with the win. Does anyone know where D-WILL shot went to he had so many 5 foot shots that he couldn't hit i was surprised we won with how bad he was shooting Kover will not be resigned.
JimmyZ | 9:52 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Last night was one of the best team efforts I've seen this year. Everyone looked great with the exception of Korver. Last year I really thought he would be a difference maker on this team. He has turned out to be a disappointment. He is too one dimensional and inconsistant
Mystery Blogger | 9:51 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
I hope Sloan and the Mystery Blogger(The guy who writes all the neg C.J. posts who loves Krover) will finally get off this Krover kick once and for all so we can get on with REAL basketball.

@ Magnus

Amen.
Re: JummyZ | 10:16 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Exactly what I was thinking!

Great post. I would add that Koufus is one of the top 5 players taken in the draft
gin | 10:15 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Carlos who??? How many mris does it take from how many drs. Is it really that serious of an injury or is he just playing a selfish lazy attitude about playing ball. Salt Lake has some of the best hospitals and dr.s in the country. Does he go to California to hear what he wants to hear and not what is realy going on. Memo, what are back spasams so severe you can't do your job?
Hang on Paul we have faith in you and if at all possible you would be out there. The whiny so called injured players have used it to many times for us to call sympthay and hope.
TXexile | 10:19 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
I am in Dallas with family for the holiday and I was soooo happy to see my Jazz win so I could brag a bit. I worry about the team, especially these anti-Korver/Harpring comments. Points scored are such a small part of a game. I'd especially defend Harpring because of his ability to get under people's skin. If you can mess with a guy enough on the court, you can throw his shot off. It doesn't work with a guy like Kobe, but it definitely does with T-Mac. Miles and Brewer, great as they are, will never be able to bump guys like Harpring does. And, assuming Korver doesn't miss so often that other teams just leave him open, he spreads the floor. And the curling shot around the free throw that used to be Matt's and is now Kyle's is crucial for the Jazz. I wouldn't write those guys off too quickly. Go Jazz!
Jazz MAN | 10:27 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Our twin towers ignited some hope for this Jazz Man. I think Koufus is the real deal. Just think of all the big white guys we have drafted that didn't pan out. Finally we strike it rich on this kid.

I hate to admit it because I shelled out $75 bucks for a Kyle Korver Jersey, but in all honesty he hurts our team. He is way over utilized. Just watch the way Popovich plays his three point guns. They don't get on the floor unless they need a three to win the game, then they come out ready.

Too much is asked of Korver. He is not a regular rotation player period.
PLAY KOUFOS | 10:27 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
thats all!!! play this kid more!!!
Re Txexile | 10:29 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
I agree with you that Harpring has a place on this team. Korver on the other hand is a 12 man who comes in to hit a three pointer. Nothing more
Anonymous | 10:54 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
For all of you that are ripping on Korver, Keep in mind me got him for Gordon, I would take Korver any day, If anything he poses an outside threat, He has done a lot more good than Gordon ever did.
Anonymous | 11:09 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Korver reminds me a lot like Giracek. He seems to try hard but the results just aren't there.

I think it was a fair trade. little for little
Proof... | 11:13 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
The comments posted here about Korver are proof that many of the people who post here are fickle fans who base their sweeping judgements on the previous night's game... anyone who played great is a hero, and anyone who didn't have a stellar game should be traded. Oh, and for all of you basketball geniuses, who not only can't spell KORVER correctly, but think he has no value to the Jazz, don't forget he's INJURED. I know, it's easy to forget such a minute detail, considering we have those players who sit out game after game, each time they are injured... hell, I don't blame them at this point! Korver was shooting lights out all through the pre-season, sprains his wrist (and re-sprains it, while 'playing through' it) and has struggled some since then. Still, he leads the Jazz in 3 point%, has hit some big shots for us, played tough, and has been an overall contributer in most of the games played. A nice game from Miles is no reason to trash Korver... oh, and who says Korver will choose to opt out after the season? LOL
Laughable | 11:18 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Fans who post here are ridiculous. Blasting everything and everybody. SLC must be the most negative fans around the league. Last year when we got Korver the record improved dramatically. This year he is a bum? Fickle, fickle, fickle. I will guarantee you all that if the Jazz want to get rid of him , that there are plenty of suitors. Sloans system doesn't always fit certain players style. Isn't it funny that real basketball today doesn't resemble Sloans style at all? Just look at S.A. Boston, Cleveland, L.A., and other teams head and shoulders better than the Jazz, and the different philosophy towards offense and defense, and how players are used, for the different match-ups. No comparision, this system is an antique.
magnus | 11:28 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
TXexile is exactly right, great post.

Korver is still shooting .425 from three point land. I think alot of people underestimate the value of role players like Korver and Miles and Harpring. Korver and Miles are hands down the best 3pt shooters on the team, they aren't on the team to be all-stars or score 20+ a night or single handedly shut down Kobe Bryant. Harpring is a savvy veteran tough guy, every team needs one, especially the Jazz.

I think the whole conversation is a little stupid at this point. a few games ago Korver stepped up and bailed the Jazz out when CJ and Brewer were tanking, now Brewer and CJ are stepping up again and doing what we all know they are capable of.

Why do the Jazz need to get rid of anybody?

We don't even know exactly what they have until everyone is healthy.

Good trade idea? | 11:29 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
I would be sad to see Boozer go, but since it seems increasingly inevitable that he's going to be traded, and most likely to Miami, what about this trade idea?
Boozer (and maybe Almond?)- to Miami
Shawn Marion, Daequan Cook, and Draft pick - to Portland
Przybilla (spelling?) and Rudy Fernandez - to Utah
Just a thought, of course. It would never happen. But I think big P.'s presence in the middle would make up for the rebounding, and Fernandez would just make the bench deeper or even start in place of Miles/Brewer (although I don't think that Portland is going to get rid of him, the way he's playing).
To 'Anonymous' @ 11:09 | 11:30 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Dumbest observation ever. Whoever posted about fickle fans is right on this one.... all big shots by Korver forgotten, games sealed with his f/t's forgotten, smart basketball, charges taken, etc., etc., etc., all forgotten... now the trade was 'little for little'?? Classic example of a stupid fan.
Rackman | 11:35 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Proof,
I'm with you on this. Utah has to many fickle fans. Be greatful we can even compete with all of the injuries that we have. If we can just make the playoffs and get everyone healthy, we have a chance. Most of us know we have a pretty decent team. I think that this stretch is a blessing in disguise, because it gets these guys that don't play that much, a chance to gain some extremely valuable experience. The thing that sets Utah apart from most teams in this league, is the depth that we have on our bench. Those guys getting a chance to play is just building us more and more depth. GO JAZZ!!!
Down with LA | 11:47 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Real Jazz fans are those who supported the team after the Stock-Malone era ended and we had a starting lineup that included players like Arroyo.
As much as the fair weather fans like to post here it is nice to know that they care a little bit.
Don't Poo-Poo the Jazz because of hard times. We are a bangged up club, for now.........
Wait until we a healthy and we will thrive.
And for clarities sake
Korver is a stud.
Boozer makes the Jazz one of the Elite teams in the league; it would suck to see him leave.
Milsap is a WORKHORSE.
There aren't many trade options that the Jazz could use to make the team better.
Instead of Booing the home team lets show ALL of the Jazzmen that they are valued by their fanzz.
miles scored 14 points | 11:49 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
had how many rebounds, assists, blocks???? we need a complete game EVERYNIGHT,Cj was guarding Howard (18 points) and Terry,(26 points) that equals a NET LOSS,get it ??? know it all ???!!!
magnus | 11:56 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Some intersting stats to go along with my previous post...

like the article said, this was the 10th different starting lineup for the Jazz this season, the starting lineup that looked and performed the best was Price, Brewer, CJ, Boozer, Memo with AK, Korver, Knight and Millsap comming off the bench. That team was 6-0.

The only Player to start every game this season...CJ Miles.

The Jazz have more games missed due to injury than any other team in the league.

After tonights game the Jazz 5 best players (Williams, AK, Boozer, Memo, Millsap) will have missed a combined total of 47 games, and thats just the games they didn't play in. There are probably 10 more that were either so short or so ineffective because of an injury that they may as well not have played at all.

The Jazz have played more games (32) than any other team in the league and in spite of all of the injuries are only 2 or 3 games out of 2nd place in the West.

I really don't think the Jazz need to make any moves, they just need to get healthy.
Harpring or Miles... | 11:57 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
If you had a choice, even now with Harpring being old and hurt...who would you keep ? for me it`s not even close,Matt Harpring,he probably won the game for us by getting Dirk Nitwit tossed!!!!!
Hey... | 11:59 a.m. Dec. 27, 2008
what happened to the 20 points and "game winning shot" in 30 minutes????
Sean | 12:01 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
+1 Down with LA. You can really see the fair-weather fans when the Jazz hit a little bump in the road (that bump's name is Injuries this year). Five games above .500 with a hundred player-games missed? I'll take that any day.

The Jazz will be in the mix, kids. Now go take your prozac and CALM DOWN.
Perspective | 12:15 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
The only reason the Jazz are where they are right now (and not worse off) is because of their depth. People want great numbers out of EVERYONE, EVERY NIGHT, but come on... be realistic, we have had different guys step up on different nights to lead the Jazz to the victories they do have. What is wrong with this?? Of course we are not dominating... with the injuries we've had... this isn't complicated. If you scream for a trade every time someone has an off nights (or a few), then you will be wasting a lot of time screaming for trades that aren't going to happen... and, eating crow when each of the 'trade him' players step up (again), proving their value on the team. This Jazz team doesn't rely on two guys to win, or three.. they rely on the very role players that some seem so intent on griping about.
Trade Boozer NOW | 12:19 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
The only Jazz players I want to see gone are those without heart. Not to single anyone out (Boozer), but there's no place for anyone on this team that's not fully committed. You can live with a guy that makes a few mistakes, so long as he gives everything he has on the court and in practice.
Korvers Pretty Good Guy | 12:33 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
In small doses when needed.( 15 mins. a night average) He is a good role player(shooter)and I'm sure he will contribute to some wins this year.

We need to up the dosage on Koufos and Fess( more playing time)They can take some of the pressure off of Milsap and Okur so they don't get over used and reinjured.

Let Boozer walk when he opts out. Reinvest his 68 million in our young studs on the rise that actually want to be here and play.(both offense and defense.)

Milsap and Koufos will help us to say, "Carlos who?" Oh ya that slow healing always injured dude in the elaborate suits, who used to sit on the bench playing with his cuff links and sending text messages.
re: Re Txexile @ 10:29 am | 12:45 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
"Korver on the other hand is a 12 man who comes in to hit a three pointer. Nothing more."

Congratulations... in one statement, you have shown your complete lack of understanding of the game of basketball...LOL Please tell me you weren't serious? If so, remember your words next time Korver seals a game with f/t's, takes a charge, dives for a loose ball, etc., etc., etc. How about a little something called stretching the defense? (Casual fans pay little attention to this, but players place far more importance on it.) How useful do you think THAT is for teammates, even if Korver isn't scoring, to have the floor opened up, allowing OTHERS to score DOES matter. How about looking back to the playoffs last year, when the Lakers opted NOT to guard Brewer from outside (respect for an outside shot is a beautiful thing), packing in the paint instead, which certainly didn't help an already struggling Boozer. We only have a couple of players who can really stretch the defense, and Korver is one of them.
jazz fanatic | 12:55 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
i like Boozer. ya he is out from injury and he is going to opt out but just think how much better of a team we are with him! I like his play and the jazz could really use his help. Only way i would want boozer gone is if a trade happened and the jazz got Bosh or someone who is going to help the Jazz more then Boozer would. Millsap is a stud but i want both Booz and Paul playing for my team.. I love the Jazz.. Playoffs here the jazz come!!!!!!!!!!!
Anonymous | 12:57 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Our Centers make it difficult to drive and had a very good offensive game feeding of the system, and our wings made their plays and their shots; when that combined with Williams playing easy and under control, we're tough to beat, no matter who's in and who's out. That's the beauty of Jazz basketball.
Wells Fargo | 12:57 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Should come out with a Milsap commercial. You can bank on him to give a Full commitment. 110% = more return on your invested dollars.

Boozers stock has crashed into a depression.

Tip of the day; Kosta Koufos's stock is really on the rise.
Korver Haters | 1:03 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
I am embarrassed to be a Jazz fan along side of the fans that all of the sudden want to get rid of a player based on one game! This is what Korver brings to the team.

1- The Jazz were 16 and 16 until we made the trade, and last year he didnt even have a good statistical season and look where we finished. Yea... Korver and Giracek have the same value!! LOL

2- He does things that cant be measured. SPREADS THE FLOOR! Draws attention! When both the Jazz's best post players arent playing and the other team doesnt have to double then of course Korver isnt going to be as valuable. As a pure shooter Korver demands attention, leaving Boozer, Milsap, and the rest of the Jazz more room to work .. the JAZZ picked him up to play with Boozer, Okur, and Milsap!

3- Even though I think points scored is an overrated stat because naive fans base everything on this Ill put it in anyway. HE LEADS THIS TEAM IN 3 pt%!

"Yea, lets get rid of him and his midlevel salary"...That would be asinine!

C.J. Miles,Ronnie,Ronnie,D-Will,Kosta Koufos,Paul Milsap,Kyrylo Fesenko and New Yorks 2010 first round pick. Hold the keys to the Jazz's future success.
Kosta | 1:46 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Koufos was the most impressive last night. He played with a lot of heart and played hard, which can make up for inexperience in many cases. I would love to see him get more minutes on a consistant basis Sloan!!!
Miles | 1:59 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
is by far the best player this year, just look at his numbers
Miles | 2:38 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
To Harpring or Miles............Never mind. OH I see another wannabe pretending to be me with the dumb comment that CJ is by far the best player this year. Just look at his numbers. Classy guy.
korver didn't even play bad | 3:53 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
this guy posting as miles is something else, note to miles, just because your mom has dominated you your whole life, don't post publicly in an attempt to diffuse your negative energy elsewhere, save your rants for the privacy of your home, people really aren't interested.
korver didn't even play that bad last night, he wasn't hitting every shot, but he's always hustling and plays pretty smart bball. my gripe with korver is that i'd expect him to make more of his shots, as shooting is his specialty. if he's not making his shots, even though he's hustling, he's not worth having out on the floor, not unless miles is tanking it, but the way miles played last night, he's more of an asset on the floor, than a korver who isn't hitting. and, my opinion of miles is that he's going to continue to get better, miles played well last night, but he wasn't playing the smart kind of bball korver does, small things, like help d, but this isn't about miles, miles is maturing and getting experience, so he'll learn to play the way that the other seasoned players do it.
Anoymous | 3:54 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
Forget Korver and Harpring, they'll be back full force again. So they had a bad game, doesn't everyone some time or another?
Pay Fesenko and Koufous more money, give them more playing time so they can again prove their worth. They both clicked last night. I was so proud of them. It would be hard for a player to get by either one of them in the paint. They have tall, wide, big bodies.
Boozer can walk now if he feels so inclined. I won't miss him.
GO JAZZ!!!!!!
Miles | 4:00 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
I've changed my mind. CJ is very much average.... I just looked at his numbers.
Miles | 4:09 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
All these cling-ons pretending to be me,I`m the only real me ,I`m the one and only "Miles" just compare my numbers to all the other small forwards in the league...you`ll see
Jazzsmack | 6:41 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008
If this wasn't a perfect example of why defense and rebounding are more important than scoring in the power forward postion,

then I don't know what is.

Here we have a power forward known for his defense, hustle and doing all the little things,

Versus a power foward know for his scoring and outside shooting.

Guess which power foward's team won?

This is why boozer MUST go.
