Regardless of what position you take on current topics these are sad sad unfair events.
They truly are sad and unfair. Tons of people on everyside are sufferng unfair persecution. For example: many suffered anti-gay violence, many Christians suffered violence and persecution.
What about the heterosexual men subject to homosexual rape daily in the nation's prisons and jails?
What about the heterosexual youths victimized by the homosexual priests in the Catholic Church?
What about heterosexual men subjected to unwanted sexual solicitations from homosexual men?
Why do we not see the statistics or discussion of the above?
"what about..." I think you missed the point. That's not to say that these things you mentioned (with the exception to the last point) aren't important and unforgivable, but victims of these crimes aren't targeted because they're straight; the are crimes of power and control, not out of hate. Hate crimes are a much different thing. People being violently attacked, harrassed, and murdered because of who they are IS a very sad and heinous thing. It shows us just how intolerant and reactionary people can be. Frankly, I think your comment illustrates some of the same problems this article was trying to expose by excusing these behaviors and being outraged by the supposed underreporting of supposed homosexual acts of violence against straight men. "What about heterosexual men subjected to unwanted sexual solicitations from homosexual men?" Really?!? Be flattered! Say no thank you. What about women subjected to unwanted sexual solicitations from heterosexual men. I'd be willing to bet that happens A LOT more frequently than homosexual men hitting on straight men. But that's not important. Would you rather no one talk about the violence LGBT people are subjected to? Only news related to heterosexuals is important anyway, right?
