Sounds Great!

We've known the Miners for a lot of years, great people. He knows baseball and football for that matter. Should be a great experience for Mapleton High kids.

Provo Baseball Coach

says congratulations Coach Miner on your new job!

Maple mountain parent

Maple mountain administration made a bad choice here. They must not have done any research in the hiring process. Hire a guy who had to be talked into coaching at orem. If this is false then why didn't he take the job at orem three coaches ago. Maple Mountain will lose out on the Spanish Fork to come players in their boundaries and most of the springville/mapleton players as well. Parents are not happy with the hire and I see them going somewhere else. Once again it will be a SF dominated league with springville next. You had a chance to get someone good and missed out. Good luck at the bottom fighting for last place with payson. SF, Spring, Salem, Uintah, Payson, Maple. WOW!

Good luck Coach Miner

because the post above show you just how nuts the parents of the Springville--Maple Mountain are are...

This Season

So, will GM coach out the year at Orem then I suppose?

Anonymous

Why wouldn't he? Just as the girl's basketball and choir director hires at Provo will finish their work there. Just probably like every other coach or teacher hired by Maple Mountain will finish their expected duties at their current schools.

Nevada Coach

Its sad, I know a coach and teacher that put in for the job and didn't even get a chance to interview. This guy is a great coach and great with kids and that is second to his teaching abilities. I hope that Orem or Tooele doesn't over look this guy. Be looking for this guy to do great things when he gets there.

Re: Maple Mountain Parent

Hopefully Maple Mountain Parent is one of those whiney, overly-obsessed parents that Springville High will do well to be rid of. You know the kind... always knows someone better than the person that was hired, always know better than the administration, always full of opinions but short on any credible background to back it up.

Good luck with the new job, Coach.

Lucky Maple Mountain High

Coach MIner will be an awesome coach! An Awesome Teacher and a Awesome role model for the students at MMHS. SHS missed out on a great coach years ago when they had the chance of hiring him.

player at mmhs next year

i know gary miner great guy very good coach good with kids we will do good look for the 2013 graduating class.

good luck coach

it will be interesting to see how the new coach will handle the parents in the mapleton area. the parents in this area have been known to be very boisterous about their opinions. who is the nevada coach? good luck coach with the parents. new school, new coach, should be a fresh start for you and the school. we shall see how it works out. chance to make the playoffs first year with weak league. good luck again

Utah Parent

His name is Greenland. He recently moved to Hawaii and will be moving back due to school cuts. He is a Tooele boy and has coached against my son's teams. I met him a few years ago in Mesquite. What a class guy. I'm not sure what he teaches, but he went out of his way to help my son get into college baseball. Let me know if you need to get in touch.

Maple Mountain Parent

This parent is extremely happy with the Hire of Gary Miner. Best baseball coach/teacher in the state of UT. I would like to know how they did it?? We moved from Orem a few years ago and our boys favorite teacher was Mr. Miner. He takes the kids to Washington DC and gets them involved with US History. Also a fantastic baseball player and coach. We feel very grateful to have him at Maple Mountain. You will see Maple Moutain become a powerhouse in baseball taking advantage of the Mapleton money and the Spanish Fork city programs. Just so you know, Maple Moutain is in Spanish Fork! Good Luck Golden Eagles.
