They are losing alot of guys next year. BYU will win the next 3 years at least. Bronco is a much better coach, and BYU is now starting to bring in some speed. Watch out utah and enjoy the rest of this year. Because next year it is going to start getting ugly for ya. HAHAHAHAHA
BYU | 1:21 a.m. Dec. 23, 2008
Now you can understand why you take so much smack. The season is not even over and the first comment from one
of your idiot fans is to start talking how you will beat is for the next 3 years. Frankly you would be a lot better off with a few more players leaving your program, like your quarter back and a bunch of real slow guys.
Provo Dad | 1:32 a.m. Dec. 23, 2008
BYU won't win the next three years, matter of fact you will probably lose a few more games next year and end up at 7-5. Bronco might run a good fireside but he's no where in the same League as coach Whitt.I'm betting that things remain ugly for the next 2-3 years at the Y. Bringing in speed LOL HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Utah is so overrated. They could only beat BYU by 24 points and they just lost to Arizona.

Hahahah! Ute Eater strikes again!!!

I just want to say thanks to all 18 of these young men (and the two older ones) who have given so much to the University. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors. I hope we see them doing even greater things off the field than they have accomplished this year on the field (and on the field has been fantastic).

GO UTES!

BCS is an excellent cologne when on the recruiting trail. Utah's recruiting is going very well as result of recent BCS success, something BYU would not know about. BYU fans need to keep in mind that Arizona was an average team that had it's way with you. Find a new quest next year, aside from the BCS.

Well Cubers, Hell has frozen over, and so did you last Saturday. I guess that's what happens when Utes chear for Cubers. I did the best I could. Church was pretty quiet Sunday.

One thing for sure: One team wearing crimson will win on January 2; however, the 'Bama version seems a little subdued for my taste.

I'll be in the Big Easy singing Utah Man next week! I hear that there is a ban on banjo's in N'orleans for the Sugar Bowl. That should take care of the percieved 'Bama home field advantage.
Everybody knows that N'Orleans is fiddle county.

Good luck Utes......Just remember 'Bama is just another TDS, (I mean really South), and we've had good luck with teams that share that acronym this year.

People of the High Places: 23 (3 FG's/2 TD's)
Hill People with Banjo's: 21 (3 TD's)

Thank Louie for the FG's. One will be a SB record.

GO Utes!!!!!!

BYU's motto next year won't be "Quest For Perfection". It will be "Quest For Interception". Also Lee Corso was doing BCS Upset Alert and he picked Utah over 'Bama.

Gooooooooooo Utes!

Fiddles and Banjos? Get real. New Orleans is Jazz on the Bayou. Think more crawfish etoufette and oyster poboy. The big easy is probably the alcohol capitol of the U.S. You have to go to the French quarter (Bourbon St.) and visit Pat O'briens and have a Hurricane. Search the bars and get yourself a Hand granade (drink) too, you won't be sorry.

Alabama is not fiddle country, you can get those images of hill people and Deliverance (filmed in Ga and Tenn.) out of your head. Akabama is the most geologically and geographically diverse state. It has Mountains, Canyons, Beaches, Swamps, Marshes,.... and more streams and rivers than any other state. You name it Alabama has it. It was the capitol of the Confederacy and the birth place of the Civil Rights movement. There is no reason to generalize culture of Alabama, just like there is no reason to think that Utah is completely comprised of Native Americans and Mormons.

P.S. There are/used to be Native Americans in Alabama too. Tuscaloosa is named for the great Indian Chief Tuskaloosa (Black Warrior) who stood 1.5' taller than the Spaniards.

Yners. We all know what the T-shirts will say next year, "The Quest For a Perfect Fireside." HAHAHAHAHA!! The Y is in a downward spiral, the fans know it, the players know it (listen to the comments of Collie and Jogensen post game). The coaches also know they can not run a decent defense with all those slow guys they have. bYu has been lucky the past couple of years with a very powerfull offense to overcome the weaknesses on the other side of the ball. If Collie leaves for NFL, you all will lose 5 games next year.
Not Sold on the Utes | 10:04 a.m. Dec. 23, 2008
Hey Utes, you want a NC? Join a BCS conference!!! Get away from beating the bottow feeders and come out and play with the big boys. Play BAMA,LSU,Georgia or Pen State every week, not one time and done untill bowl season. Why stay in a pee wee" conference, come on and join,or the major conference not let the Utes in? What is the reason to stay in a weak conference? The Utes want the big boy titles not to earn it by playing the big boys for it each week.
Intangibles | 10:24 a.m. Dec. 23, 2008
This year's senior class was not the most gifted in individual talent, but they had a lot of heart and are some of the greatest leaders the program has had. When they faced adversity, they didn't try to dodge out of the way, they stood up and played till the last whistle blew.

We will miss some of them, and the others we hope to see along the sidelines in the years to come.

Good luck to Sakoda and any others that may find themselves in the next league (remember Ganther and Madsen didn't get drafted but are playing time in the NFL).

We are in good hands next year. We're glad Coach Whittingham is staying put and he is proving to be one of the greatest coaches the MWC has seen.

The cougars continue to show their fears of inadequacy when compared to the Utes by their comments on the Utah stories. That won't change and neither will their program. Expect Utah to win in another blow out next season in LES.

RE: Not sold | 10:48 a.m. Dec. 23, 2008
Apparently you don't understand much about bcs conferences. They will not let us join! That is why there is so much outrage. Utah would love to join a big name comference but they don't want to split the pot into any more pieces.
To make it worse it is hard to find big name schools (especially in the cowardly sec)that will add a decent non-bcs school to their scedule. Look at Alabama's OOC schedule for instance;tulane, w.kentucky, Ark State? And all of those at home. The last time AL played a non-bcs team on the road was in 2003. And what do you know, they LOST!! To HAWAII!! In a LAUGHER! No wonder they are afraid to play non bcs schools on the road. They aren't good enough to win. So they can just keep playing Louisiana-Monroe at home (and winning-most, but not all, of the time).
Thank U Seniors! | 10:56 a.m. Dec. 23, 2008

UteFanInAL | 11:01 a.m. Dec. 23, 2008
First off - Mountains in Alabama? I live here and am still looking for them. Oh you mean those hills? go to Utah to see a real mountain. Next, Utah would play any of those teams - BAMA, LSU, GA - but they don't want to play Utah. They are content on playing LA-Monroe, etc. Utah play in a good conference - Oh you mean teams like Auburn this year, and Mississippi State, Vanderbuilt and TN? Isn't TN the team Wyoming beat (at TN). Yes those real tough teams you ahve to watch out for.
Strength of schedule? Alabama? whose strength of schedule is better?.....let's see, the AP says its Utah's!
Never Join.. | 11:08 a.m. Dec. 23, 2008
Utah will never join a BCS conf because they care about more than just football. They would want a school that wins consistantly in all sports. Utah Basketball is a complete joke and there other sports are not very good either. BYU would be the pick to go if any school was to get in. Since the Mtn West has been in existence look at conf championships by schools. BYU Totally dominates this conf and keep it a float. Clearly the Top school in the conf. (Not by opinion but by fact)

====================================================

The trouble with your argument is that BYU has had a higher rated recruiting class EVERY year for the last 20. Look at the numbers, they don't lie.
Jarid in Cedar | 11:25 a.m. Dec. 23, 2008
To finish my thought:

The difference is how do you coach and improve those recruits. The jury is still out on Bronco. UTah is able to compete because they find players that other teams pass on as "not talented enough, etc." and improve them over the span of 4 years. Not many of Utah's top players are highly coveted by other schools when they were in HS, but many of them are now good enough to be respected by the teams that wouldn't even sniff at them. That is good coaching, and not just good head coaching. Good position coaching, good trainers, good conditioning coaches. Fans who tout recruiting classes forget the second part of the equation
Re: Never Join | 11:27 a.m. Dec. 23, 2008
Yep, you guys are the best, no argument, 100% correct. Oh wait, I forgot to take off the zoob-goggles... now it doesn't seem so obvious dang it!

Only a zoob would argue how their team was better after getting their heads handed to them. Get over it, your season is over, go away.
Not Sold on Utah | 11:56 a.m. Dec. 23, 2008
I don't why ya'll are pointing out BAMA's schedule to me? I'm not a BAMA fan or a SEC fan. I do respect the SEC, because I know it is almost impossible to go undefeated in the SEC playing the LSU's , Florida and Georgia each week. They always have 4 or 5 teams in the top 10. I do not beleive that no BCS conference will UTAH join, The Big 10 has 11 teams they need one more. Yes BAMA did lose at Hawaii and they beat them at home or did you forget that one. The Mtn West can get rid of the bottom feeder and improve their conference. All the talk u guys are doing and putting down the BCS conferences are not changing a thing. Until u guy do something the Mtn West is looked at as a 'pee-wee" conference. The BCS conferences have nothing to prove, Mtn West does. So keep talking and we will keep going to the NC game and looking at the Utes in the rear view mirror. Jan 2, is your big chance dont mess it up the football nation will be watching.
RE; never join | 12:16 p.m. Dec. 23, 2008
So something that doesn't make sense to me is your claim of BYwoo being better in all the other sports. So, remind me, what other sports are you refering to? Is it all the numerous national championships your school has won in basketball? Skiing? Oh wait, it's gymnastics right? Oh... you mean Utah has more Ntl. championships in those three sports than BYU has in all sports combined? Golly, is that your bubble I see bursting? Hmm... maybe you can try to argue that those sports don't count? And as to the next point I know you were going to say...yes Utah has Ntl. Championships in other sports too.
Re; re; never join | 12:29 p.m. Dec. 23, 2008
You are right about Utah having more Ntl. champs than the zoobs, but it is in only 3 sports. Below is the total tally for both schools according to the NCAA. It does not list the BYU football championship as it does not recognize football championships.

BYU total-9... 10 if you include football
.Womens Cross Country-4
.Mens Golf-1
.Mens outdoor track and field-1
.Mens Volleyball-3
Utah total-20
.Mens Basketball-1
.Womens Gymnastics-9
.Skiing-10

Even counting the zoobs football championship, Utah has double the NCAA National Championship titles. As such, Never joins claim of dominating in overall sports is a bit ludicrous.

Go Utes!!! That's all anyone needs to know. Go Utes!!! I have a brother at BYU and he is proud of his losing team. I am at the U of U and I am proud of my winning team. Things are not any better when the Utes are losing or when BYU is winning (if ever). We like to talk trash to each other, but I still invite him over for dinner on the weekends. Can you like BYU and U of U? In the words of Zane Beadles, "Not these two teams!" This is an ongoing battle that will never be remedied, nor should it be. Go! Fight! Win!

Re: Not Sold on Utah 11:56 a.m. | 4:58 p.m. Dec. 23, 2008
Pure genious! You want Utah to be the 12th team in the Big Ten(11)? That would be a great idea if Salt Lake City were about 1700 miles due east of where it is. Don't get me wrong. I like the Big Ten, except OSU (they disgrace and embarrass the conference just like byu does to the MWC). Traveling just 5 or 6 times per season on 4000 mile round trips may actually be nearly feasible (although unpleasant) for the football programs. But what about the tennis, softball, hockey teams etc? Not realistic at all.

The Big 12 or Pac 10 would be the only geographically realistic conferences for the Utes to join. But the Big 12 is already has 12 schools and the Pac 10 has been unwilling to let the Utes and the Cougars join.

You are right in saying that the Utes have a chance to prove something. The MWC going 6-1 vs Pac Ten is good start, WY winning @ Tenn is good, Utah beating Big East champ in 04 was good. Baby steps...

Two main recruiting sites.
Scout.com
BYU-36
Utah-57
Rivals.Com
Byu-53
Utah-46
Sounds like "Intelligence anyone" needs to look stuff up, rather than assume. Saying utah is 10-15spots higher in the rankings was very inaccurate.
As far As championships go the argument is about Mtn West titles not National Titles. Byu wins that argument also.
danburtreynolds | 5:43 p.m. Dec. 23, 2008
Re Recruiting.. (5:16):

What Mr. "Needs to look stuff up" failed to note in his assessment was that on BOTH services the Utes have a higher average.

Let me break this down for you

Rivals: BYU 15 commits with an average of 2.80 stars
Utah 16 commits with an average of 2.81 stars
Realistically, a statistical push

Scout: BYU 18 commits with an average of 2.67 stars
Utah 12 commits (hence BYU with an overall ranking 19 points higher) but average stars of 2.83.

So, before you call people out for not doing their homework, why don't you do yours.

As for the meaning of all the stars: nothing, just ask Charlie Weis.

Oh, I like you have set the championships criteria to fit your argument. Are you a lawyer?

When was the last time BYU basketball team made it to the sweet sixteen or better? Give up? 1981 How about Utah? 2005.

But I guess you were too busy partying like its 1984 to notice the Ute basketball program under coach Majerus.

Utah football hands down is the better program in the BCS era, in the last 10 years:
Utah BCS 2
BYU BCS 0
