Milsap over Boozer.
Great article. I think everything is very well sumarrized
I'm really disapointed with Booz attitudes.
The Utah jazz are an historical great team with great player he should be proud to play for that team and this coach.
On contrary Milsapp attitudes is an example.
The choice for Miller will not be easy.
Look, anytime a really good player gets to free agency, it is more likely that he moves on than stays. Why should Boozer get vilified for saying what everyone would be thinking in his situation?
Goodbye, Carl!
Boozer can take his playoff hustle to another team. The jazz need defense and he isn't the answer.
I think you give him to much credit; how come come his injuries are constantly being evaluated? Why do we care about someone who is so self-centered?
I really hope the Jazz find someway to keep Carlos Boozer here for a few more years. With him, we're a lock for the playoffs every single year and probably a division winner and are pretty much unbeatable at home. Without him, we'll have to struggle just to make the playoffs like we are right now. Don't get me wrong, Millsap is pretty good but he is not great. True, his stats while starting are approaching Boozer's great stats; however, Millsap is putting up those numbers while playing about 40 minutes each game Boozer has been out. Boozer was playing only about 32 minutes because Millsap had to get his minutes and he was still putting up 21 and 11 on 55% shooting. I really don't care if the majority of fans don't like him anymore as the team will not be in contention for a championship without him. He put up an 8-4 record this year w/o D-Will, while D-Will has put up an 9-8 record w/o Booze. D-Will is great but he can't carry the Jazz w/ just Millsap. AK and Okur are good but inconsistent. Boozer is a rock and we need to keep him!
"Don't expect to see Carlos Boozer playing in a Jazz uniform this time next year."
Can we even expect to see him in uniform again this year?
We should't be surprised at the way Boozer's turning out. Step back and look objectivel at the lack of character exhibitied by Boozer toward the Clevelan Cavaliers. He baited and switched that team, big time. Utah Jazz was "the other woman," the "home wrecker" with respect to the deal between Boozer and Cleveland. Cleveland thought Boozer acted dishonorably, and you know he really did. But we in Utah looked past that, as the "other woman" usually does. Well, now years later the "other woman" is learning that the philandering guy came our way only because he was dishonorable to Cleveland, is turning out not to be true to us. "We knew what Boozer was when we picked him up." Alas, character counts. If a player comes our way only because he was dishonorable to his former team, how foolish are we to expect that he'll be honorable to us? We are the fools.
Good article and analysis. He turned his back quickly on Cleveland and we should expect any different.
I'm from Juneau and have known Carlos since high school, and you got it right: Carlos definitely is a decent guy, but...
Sadly Carlos is all about the money.
But then again, Utah should have known that about him from the beginning; look how they got him from Cleveland.
And Boozer is injured a lot, but he is also undersized at his position, especially for how effective he is at his position. Again, Utah knew that about Boozer from the beginning as well.
And you are right about Utah fans too: they are always looking for a reason to be angry.
Karl Malone may be on a pedestal now, but wow did that guy say bone headed things to the press as well.
With Stockton gone, Karl joined Kobe, Shaq, Payton, and Phil Jackson for what looked to be a sure thing... until (ironically) Malone got injured and ruined it all.
Carlos has a hundred moves Karl never had, but Malone was all about a championship, and ultimately went where he would probably get one.
Carlos, it appears, will go anywhere he can get a bigger check.
But again, Utah knew that and only have themselves to blame.
I would rather go into the playoffs as the #8 seed with Millsap, than I would be the #2 seed with Boozer. I do not trust Carlos Boozer. Millsap is not the offensive weapon that Boozer is, but he has heart. I'd rather have Millsap going into battle anyday.
To O'Connor: Trade Boozer now, please!
Boozer may not be a loser, but he's not much of a team player and the Jazz are and have always been about team basketball. It's Sloan's system that works and if you have committed players within that system they are consistent winners. Yes, Boozer gets lots of points, but he gives up just as many or more on the other end. Scoring is not the Jazz problem--they can get points from all over the court. What they need is defense, and Boozer only plays hard on offense. He will never be a super star until he learns to play defense and sacrifice his body the way Millsap does. I'll take Millsap any day over Boozer, the Jazz would be monumentally stupid to let him go. Boozer, I'm not so convinced. I think the Jazz would be much better off without his fat contract.
Last time I checked this guy is a professional athlete: paid for play. He is not a local product, willing to put up with things because it is home.
He is being honest. And sometimes people can't handle that. I feel sorry for the guy: stuck in Utah. Yeeee gads........
Greetings from Cleveland. I hate to say it, but here in Cleveland people still remember how Boozer walked out of here. It looks like that's about to happen again. I love Boozer, I think his game is All-Star worthy, but I also think Millsap is the man.
As a lifelong Jazz fan, I have to agree with this article. Boozer is a better player now (aside from his D) than Millsap, but Boozer WILL NOT be back next year, he is getting a "raise" and the Jazz can't afford it. If the Jazz are smart, they will TRADE Boozer now and resign someone who actually would like to be here, maybe we can even get a shot blocker...
PS (can you believe we've payed Booz for missing an entire season!)
I'm Out!! Go JAZZ!!
Boozer did not act dishonorably with Cleveland. Cleveland did it to him by saying that he wanted more money. ESPN did the same thing. To put that out there is what gets people talking. Also that is what is going on here. It sells newspapers. It gets people to talk bad about a player. It makes the Jazz think about what the paper is saying about Boozer. We need Boozer here with the Jazz. He gets double-teamed and triple-teamed every night. He still scores 22 points and gets 12 rebounds. In looking at the game that Millsap played he did not get double-teamed and scored about 17 points and 10 rebounds. And in the Chicago game in the 4th quarter we did not get good shots. We had to take three-pointers and did not make them. I saw about 6 three-pointers missed in the last minute of the game. With Boozer in the game we would have had some open baskets because he would be double- and triple-teamed and that would open up other players. We would have won. Keep Boozer around and let's win a championship at least once in the history of the Jazz!!!!!
People in Utah are so messed up in their priorities. WHO CARES. It's just a game and its because of people who are wannabees that these people get so much money. I would personally like to see them all live on a schoolteachers wages. They are not worth anything to society. They don't give anything of substance. They play for money and not for the love of the game. In the comming "Depression"... I hope professional sports players are the first to lose their jobs! They make me gag!
Booz is making a lot of money. If he really cared about winning he wouldn't have said what he said to the media. It was a smack in the face to his teammates, his fans, his trainers, and it would be a slap to the coach's face if the coach wasn't Jerry Sloan.
It was not a wise decision for Booz to open his mouth. If he wanted success in Utah, He'd try to please the fans and make the organization look good as a whole. So far in his four Years, he has yet to accomplish either.
I think in Boozer's mind he's done in Salt Lake. All the discussion in the world (including the Jazz's front office) won't change things now. The front office now has to financially do what's best for the team. Trade Boozer to Miami and let him try to be the main guy on that, or another team, and then only be productive about 65% of the time. Let's cut our losses now and not waste a whole bunch of energy beating this to death and losing focus on the season and playoffs. You watch, if the Jazz don't make it to the next round, we'll look back and see that the main reason was because everyone was spending too much time talking about Boozer and not enough time focusing on basketball.
