I attended the concert tonight and had the time of my life. It was my third Neil Diamond concert. The event was flawless. The sound was impeccable. I've never had such a great concert experience.
I have attended four(4)concerts in my entire life d.o.b.1941.twice for RAY CHARLES,twice for NEIL DIAMOND.NEED I Say more?!
I was front row center at tonight's show. He is a phenomenal performer and the show was amazing.
Wow! It was one of his best, and we have been to many! What a great Christmas present to each other to be there!!!
Wowee! Wow! Wow! My voice is hoarse from screaming, singing and having a great time! I've seen Mr. Diamond in four concerts, since 1992, and this was the best so far!
We were in the nosebleed seats, and while we loved the preformance, oft times the music seemed louder than the performer himself. We loved the variety of his songs.
Wow, to say the least. I am here to spend the holidays from England with my sister & her family, she treated me to the show & I have to say it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Thank you Neil for the wonderful show, you are truly an American Icon.
I am still overwhelmed with the awesome performance that Neil Diamond delivered last night. I saw him perform 35 years ago in the "Salt Palace," and he was great then, but nothing can even compare to last nights rendition of old and new songs. The man is hot and sexy! His voice is strong and at it's peak. My friend and I felt like we were in our 20's again! It was worth every penny paid for the tickets - if he comes again I am sitting down front. I am starting to save for it right now! What an awesome performance! What an awesome man!
He sings "Sweet Caroline" just for me, I know. I have been to all of his shows here in Salt Lake and this was one of his best. He is such a great performer and individual. I have told my family that when I pass on, I want my son to be singing "Sweet Caroline" at the cemetery, and to remember the good times--last night was one of the very good times for me and my husband!
If anything his voice is better and his commitment to the craft is greater than ever. I also saw him at the Salt Palace and in Germany in 1971 while in the Army. Niel your the man of song where words and music tell a story of love and emotions not of hate and fear. Thanks for my teenage years Niel. Your made them great and your return to SLC make it better.
Yours truly, Darrell and Brenda.
P.S. Our 39th wedding anniversay. It was snowing then also.
I had front row, center seat, and what an awesome experience. Neil, I have been to every UTAH concert since 1969, and a few more in surrounding states, but you just keep getting better. This is truly your best concert performed here, and I had reservations about the ESA venue, but with their new sound system, you came across clear, as well as resonating the rafters. You are truly the consummate performer, and deserve a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We keep asking for your invitation, and you just keep on singing. The folks in SLC survived the snowstorm, and came and heard you sing from your heart. Thank you for coming back to Utah again on this tour.
Wow ! It was sizzlin' ! It was so much fun to see really older seniors at this concert. I'm talking about people in their 80's nearing their 90's. My friend took her 87 year old mother. And they all walked through the slushy snow and didn't stay home because of the weather. He was grand--- and all of the baby boomers and seniors and some smart 30 and 40 year olds screamed more than I have ever heard anyone scream at a Utah concert. Of course he sang Sweet Caroline for me too ! When he finished singing everyone screamed and then he would move and they would start screaming again. I loved it and told my boys who are in their 20's and 30's that when Neil comes to Salt Lake again--they have got to go with me to his concert and sit on the floor right up front. Neils performance-- along with the audiences performance is well worth it and shouldn't be missed.
Merry Christmas
Carol Lynn
I loved the concert! As people have said here, Neil still has it at the age of 67. He still puts on an awesome show. He's my favorite singer, as you might have guessed from me naming my pet bird after one of his songs (my car's license plate is "NEILFAN" too).
The only thing that would've made the show even better for my mother and I is if he sang her favorite song ("September Morn"... mine being "I Am I Said") and if he'd included a couple Christmas songs.
Neil seems to tour every 3 years... which means the next time he'll be 70! I hate to see his touring career come to an end, but he'd better make that next tour an official farewell tour so one is done while he still can. And if he does a farewell tour, I plan to attend his very last ever concert wherever it may be located (my guess is NYC or Los Angeles). And wouldn't it be great if he could talk Barbara Streisand into to doing "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" with him at that final concert?
Before my replies, I must add that I agree that this concert was one of the very best of Neil's that I've seen (and I've seen several). He's not slowing down or lessening in quality at all in his advancing years. The man is 67 and still rocks!!
Re: Big Fan...
You should get out more (I'm being sarcastic/joking). :-) Why only 4 concerts in over 65 years? You've only attended 2 Neil concerts and I've seen him every time he's come to Utah since 1989 (aprox. 7 to 10 times, I've lost track), my pet parrot is named after one of his songs ("Shilo"), and my car's license plates say/are "NEILFAN"... if you're a "big fan" then what does that make me?
RE: Joanie...
The reason for the poor sound you experienced was the location of your seats (in the upper bowl by the roof)... ANY concert sounds bad up there in that arena, always has been that way. Had you been in the lower bowl Friday you'd have had crystal clear/just right sound. Avoid sitting in the upper bowl there if at all possible in the future (my advice to everyone).
