THIS IS OUR HOUSE!!
Congrats to Skyline. A quality win. To Coach: you have taken a beating for some time with your new system. Last night, you silenced many of those synics.
You demonstrated that teamwork wins games; not selling yourself out to special interests. You are to be commended on your integrity. It shows in your play and your record.
We hope Olympus basketball is not following the same trend as the football team. They look awful against Skyline. We should be thankful this holiday season that region 6 is not strong as that is the only reason they are at the top of that regions poll.
Olympus didn't perform well in the preseason last year either. Consider that this team has only two seniors, much like last year. This team will grow considerably as the season progresses and will be a serious threat when the playoffs come around. One poor night in December does not decide how a season is played out.
Oly has 8 region championships, two finals appearances and three final four appearances in the last 11 years. Skyline has been one of the most pathetic hoop programs in the state for 20 years. Let's not get too carried away with one game. Let's check back in at the end of the season to see where these two programs are. My prediction...another first round loss by Skyline and a final four or better for Oly. They are both quality teams but Skyline is going nowhere at tourney time.
Check your facts. How many first round state tournament losses has Oly suffered in recent years? Wasn't Skyline in the quarterfinals just 3 years ago when they gave away a 4 point lead in the last few seconds and lost to a Riveton team, led by Morgan Grimm, who was much more athletic? And the previous year, with Nate Bendall playing with a broken foot, Skyline lost a nail-biter to Fremont (the eventual champion) in the semifinals, correct?
Ok Skyline fan...let's assume your right...Skyline has been past the first round twice in the last 20 years. Congratulations.
So, Olympus didn't perform well in the preseason last year, had only a couple of seniors, and lost in the first round of the playoffs. I guess that's your point - that you are having a lousy preseason, have only two seniors, and will go out in the first round of the playoffs. Thanks for the clarification.
the last two classes of kids at olympus have not done well in any sport basketball just needs a lot less kids than football don't worry they have some good classes coming up over the next four or five years. i saw skylines sophmore team you better worry for the future
Who cares about preseason games
It was one game not a whole season. so what if they are 2 - 3 oly has lost to 3 solid teams in 5A. They probably have one of the hardest preasons as a 4A team. The season is a long way from being over. Let it play out before assuming the season is over
Skyline won. I think that settles it for now.
Oly really has an experienced team; Oly had 4 seniors play; 3 of the juniors started last year; Oly had more size; Skyline had more speed and better teamwork. Bunting showed what a good coach he is.
What is Bunting's record? He missed the tournament his first year, he lost in the first round his second year with a losing record. He's installed a system nobody wants to play in....not even the kids IN the system. Oh yeah, and don't forget about that losing record in 2A at Rowland Hall. After this year he's toast.
you have no idea what you're talking about
I have watched few of the kids on this Skyline team for many years mostly as an opposing fan. They have performed consistently on a high level and they play with class. I have been especially impressed with the point guard play of Wagstaf and I think he is one of the best five point guards in the state. Osterloh has always been a good player but has taken his play to another level and makes this team a strong contender. Skyline also has a great coach that keeps them playing a highly disciplined brand of ball. They are one of the favorites for the 5A title. Right now I have them behind only Lone Peek for the best in 5A.
Two words...........Pat Brown
