RR

Drop USU, please! Let's beef up our non-conference schedule and get the respect that Fresno has. Wonder what's going on in those meetings. Oh, if walls could talk.

flatlander

RR there is no way we should beef up the schedule. If we do there is no way we can get to a good bowl game. A non BCS school has to win them all to get to a good bowl so BYU should play low ranking teams in other conferences.

from Nevada

gotta love that snow

Vegas Ute

News Flash: Hell has frozen over. Not really, the burbs are great. Sam Boyd will feel like it on Saturday. Travel Safe..........................

I have 8" in my fromt yard.

30 year storm.

Cubers put on your woolies, for the game. It will be cold. I think the cold will be a bigger problem for AZ.

Good job on the non-con scheduling.

Good Luck for Bowl Win #1 of the season.

re: flatlander

Nice try, Ute troll. Who's "we", you and your pet toad?

Weather

This is why Phoenix is a better destination than Vegas. Way better weather year round. Vegas-Hot in the summer, cold in the winter. Phoenix-Hot, warm

Ski Apparel

Some enterprising young entrepreneur could make a killing buying up a bunch of ski parkas and boots and selling them to Arizona fans on the sidewalk leading to Sam Boyd Stadium.

Looking forward to playing Oklahoma in the Dallas Cowboy's brand new stadium next season.

Toasty

That is what the superdome will feel like on Jan 2nd. (nice)!

You better win your bowl game, you cougars. (I'm not sure we will win ours)

Sincerely,

Ute troll and his TCU toad.

BYU will never learn

Did Holmoe just say "the quest continues" and that Bronco intends to go undefeated? Really, you guys are clueless. You don't go 12-0 by drumming up quests and talking about it throughout the year. Take a page from the Utes who've done it twice recently, one game at a time, focus on this week's opponent and the rest will take care of itself. That's how you go undefeated.

re: Toasty

domes are for whimps; real football players and fans don't need 'em!

Parallel universe

I read these comments and I feel I've beamed up to an Enterprise commanded by a bearded Spock.

Ute fans saying nice things about BYU? Ute fans expressing the slightest bit of doubt about their chances for a victory against 'Bama?

Who are these reasonable "Ute fans", and what has the D-News done with the obnoxious, insufferable, overconfident ones that are usually here?

Dome

It will be hotter than hell in the dome and the Utesies will burn in it.

First, a comment to Flatlander. TCU had two losses and finished #11 in the BCS standings. If TCU had 1/4 of the fan base that Ohio State does, TCU would have gone to the Fiesta Bowl. BYU does have a very big fan base and media following. If that was a 10-2 BYU team sitting at #11 with road losses to two of the BCS top 6, then BYU would have gone to the Fiesta.

Second, a comment about the quest. The quest is not just for a perfect record, but for perfect execution. There is nothing wrong with having either as a goal. In fact, there is something wrong if they aren't goals. Should they keep it secret? No, they should be honest and proclaim their goals, which forces them to back them up by working as hard as possible. I like Holmoe's statement that the quest continues, but for 2009, I like the motto of "The re-quest"

White Vegas Bowl Game

I for one am glad to have snow and cold weather for this football game. It is an advantage for BYU in two ways. First, the Cougars are used to this kind of condition, but the Wildcats will not be accustomed it.
Second, and hopefully, the Cougars will have to run more and scale back on the passing game due to the weather - which is their hidden strength. But we all know that Hall will throw to his buddies, especially Collie who is auditioning for the NFL.
Let's just hope that getting a win is more important than personal stats!

Go Cougs! Bring us a win for Christmas this year!

Quests...

"You don't go 12-0 by drumming up quests and talking about it throughout the year. Take a page from the Utes..."

Thanks, no, we'll take the page from our own past; that's how you win national championships!

Arizona

What a fun double header. Come watch the basketball team as a warmup for the football game. Will have to leave the BBall game early, though.

re: parallel universe

Just give it a little time, I am absolutely sure they (ute fans) will arrive, not sure quite when, but they will arrive. NO DOUBT!, they just can't help themselves.

storm

I am here in vegas and this is a freak storm, happens once every 50 years.
To weather-Phoenix has almost the same weather vegas does, it is actually hotter in the summer and just as cold in the winter. Once again let me say this is a once in a 50 year event in vegas, most years it is in the mid 60 this time of year, it was mid to high 70s all thru november and unto last week. And by saturday there will be no snow below 5000 feet, which means no snow at sam boyd or any where near it. And it should warm up a little bit.
To the football game- the weather should have little to due with this game, it is up to the players. And the main question should be- Can BYU break out of this funk they have played with for the second half of the season? Because if not they lose, simple as that.

RE: Toasty,

The only one feeling the heat in the dome will be Brianna Johnston. Bama's front four will be all over him all game long allowing the other seven to drop into coverage and not allow any passing lanes for the yewts overrated WR's. You yewts had a nice run but you're going the way of UH last season and will get drilled.

At this point I'm sure that all yewt fans would be thrilled to just have a good showing against the REAL crimson tide. In fact, yewt fans should be ashamed that Bama fans are calling up the yewt ticket office and are buying up the yewt's allotment of tickets for the game. Way to represent for the non-BCS schools, yewt fan. Your lack of willingness to travel to a BCS bowl is yet another reason why the BCS will try to keep smaller schools out of their party!

Weather Man

Please check your facts when comparing PHX and Las Vegas. PHX averages 70 degrees in Dec. and Las Vegas averages 57 degrees. PHX has much better winter weather than Vegas which is much colder. PHX's much warmer weather is one of the reasons AZ has two bowl games (Fiesta-BCS and Insight), Super Bowls and NBA All Star Games. If you are looking for a warm weather, outdoor vacation - PHX is it!
