Can we make one in game adjustment? It appeared that Riverton prepared for us and we didn't prepare for Riverton. I spoke with one of the players after the game and he stated that they did not even know what Riverton did well or poorly. We need to get our act together. Inexcusable not to have our team prepared!
Dude, PG...Chill...It's preseason! Since when did the preseason count towards anything. I can see if it was region play but chill.....
It appears that your coaching staff feels that one player can win every game for you. I think that CJ only had 11 points after the 3rd quarter and got most of his points when the game was out of reach. The coaching staff should know that when CJ is being guarded by a big physical player like Freil, The staff should open the door for the other players. Look at Riverton, Freil is thier leading scorer, but last night he only got 4, Rivertons staff let the other players on the court step up and take it to the hoop. PG's staff should know that one player does not make a team.
If you cant beat the big teams in preseason what makes you think you can beat them in state. That is if you get there. In order to get to state you will need more than one player on your team, CJ cannot carry you that far.
Let's have CJ just shoot 5 times a game and let everyone else get their points. We will be a lot better team. Agreed?
Not counting CJ (29) for PG or Friel (4) from Riverton. There was not a single player from PG that had more than 5 points, on Riverton you had 4 players score 10 or more ( 10, 11, 12, 18 )and 2 of those players do not start. So I would have to say that I agree with you. PG's staff should open the door for the other players and not just CJ
Why is everyone blaming CJ for your loses? We would be happy to take him off your hands if he is the problem. :-)
All you PG fans were saying how weak region 3 was after WJ beat you, now you have loast to 2 region 3 teams, and I think Bingham is the best team in that region. You better Hope you dont play them!
I am the player on the bountiful team
It is CJ's fault everyone else had less than 5 points?
Last year PG was talented...real talented but they can never play together..to many ego's and a coach that does not see that and make them all contribute and share the ball...CJ is talented and with the fro he is not DR>J
Yes, he might be a ball hog or he might not trust his team mates to pick up the slack. Or the coaching staff has no faith in anyone else on the team to score.
Didnt CJ Wilcox only have 6 or something against Payson? All others are good players and stepped up and according to box score played good. Sounds to me PG just flat out played bad. I talked to my relative (Riv fan)who was at game and he said Pg walked the ball up every time. I thought PG ran more. And he said CJ was prob 12-40. So if he did shoot it 40 times thats prob why no one else was in double figs. I havent seen PG playyet but will when we-Alta go to PG. One things for sure-this year is wide open as to who the favorite is. We were tight w/LP last night. Depends who peaks come March.
It is about time that Thomas got some credit for how hard he plays. His defense is great, and finally he got the ball enough to show what he can really do on offense when given the chance. Way to go Thomas! Keep it up Wolves.
I am sorry that everyone is blaming you for the losses. You keep your head up and keep competing. You have worked HARDER than anyone would ever imagine. Life isn't fair but you have deal with it. You have always been taught to work hard and let the rest take care of itself.
If no one has faith in you, always have faith in yourself!
Bingham lost to a little better than average Davis team. Im pretty sure riverton and WJ would beat them with ease.
Why do I always hear people in Utah say, oh it's no big deal it's pre-season. I don't get it. I played ball in the midwest and yea, we played a game or two pre-season, but when the season started the season started. To us every game, whether in conference or not, was huge. As someone else pointed out, if you can't when games outside your conference or region, makes it hard to contend for a championship. If parents and fans call this the pre-season I think in some cases it can impact players and coaches to thinking that "Oh it's just pre-season" or "when we get to region play..." yada yada yada... But then again in a state where it only takes 4 wins after qualifying for state to take the title (it took us 8) maybe it doesn't matter. Go Silverwolves!
The goal obviously is to win the state championship. If you are taking time to develop your players, work on situations, etc. so they are better later during region and state then pre-season doesn't matter.
Bottom line, pre-season means nothing only if you let it.
davis is a good team. they are better than people think.
To blame CJ for this is completely wrong. I've watched PG under the current coach for 4 yrs now. They are playing in Region Mode. This means they are not pushing the ball up the court. They are walking it up, running plays, and finding the focal point of their offense. Previously, it was G. Thurgood, T. Robertson, Tucker/Wilcox/??, and now it's CJ. So, to put the blame on CJ is completely wrong.
We've all seen what Region Mode produces and how it sets PG up for failure in the Playoffs. The nervous part is if we are playing "in Region Mode" with a 3-3 record we're looking a long season.
The X-Factor for PG starts with L.Wilcox and ends with S.Tanoai. PG has two strengths that havent been tapped into 1) their speed and 2) their size (65, 64, 68, and 68). PG needs to run when it presents itself and stay as big as possible.
