Trade Boozer

We all know that Booz is going to opt out of his contract at the end of the year because Millsap is showing that he is going to need more minutes. We need to trade Boozer and get something in return instead of just letting him walk away and get nothing for him. I really don't think that the Jazz should sign both. If I had to pick, right now I'd pick Millsap because he's more durable. Just my opinion...Either way, it's great to have both of them right now!

concerned fan

I feel sorry for Millsap bcoz inspite of putting up big numbers, the Jazz are not winning.. I'm gonna say this again, D-Will's minutes should be limited, he is not 100%, he is a liability out there on defense, better to sit him out, but he said it he is not willing to do it..poor Jazz fans

GoodGuyGary

I remember on Bryoan Russell contract year over a decade ago, the reporter asked him about the money matter, all he said (and I can remember) was "I can get the Mercedes I wanted for a long time." Millsap, please keep up the good work!

Re: Trade Boozer

I agree with you, it's time to trade Boozer. If the Jazz don't pay him a MAX contract he's going to walk away.

I have read it in his body language and seen it in his eyes. He has no intention of staying with the Jazz if they don't show him the money.

I say pull the trigger Jazz. Hopefully, we'll pickup someone who's a tough defender, ala Harpring but in better health.

liberal Larry

I've always liked Millsap as a player, but I won't be sending him any care packages while he limps along on $800,000/year. He's underpaid by NBA standards, but really, is this something he actually worries about?

RE: Trade Boozer

It's not like the Jazz would get nothing in return if the Matador opts out of his contract after this season. Freeing up all of his mega million contract is quite a bit in return for the Jazz to lock up Millsap and/or pursue other free agent talent. Trading Snoozer isn't the Jazz' only option, and not a likely one either. Who is going to trade for his contract and near 50% of the time injury rate over the course of his current contract?

I'd help usher him out the door by bringing him off the bench behind Millsap when he returns. Booz might be the flashy All-Star but Millsap is the better overall potential.

Millsap's new backup

When Booz comes back, Sloan should play him off the bench behind Millsap--at least until Booz gets back into top game shape. Who knows, maybe that arrangement would even stick. :)

Miles

I find it interesting that we are losing games but you fairweather fans are all for trading Boozer because Millsap is playing good. I thought the idea was to win, not put up good numbers. Paul is not helping us win games. We win more with Boozer in the lineup. Boozer is one of the best players in the league. Wouldn't have made the olympic team if he wasn't in the elite group of players. Without Boozer, we are an average team. So without signing another player, we need Boozer more than he needs us. When he comes back, you will all see his value to the team.

Trade

I would suggest the Jazz put a package out.

Boozer, Miles, Collins and Fez and money. Get rid of the Dead Wood.

STICK WITH MILLSAP

the jazz should stick with millsap. he is leaps and bounds a better defender than boozer. boozer get beat on the block or just lets the bigger guys like nowitzki and other bigs beat him off the dribble if they face up to the basket. boozer is gone at the end of they year whether it be a trade or to free agency, either wouldnt be bad. in a trade the jazz would get something in return but in free agency they get rid of his big salary and get more room in the salary cap to give millsap his money and pursue another big name. and plus throw in the factor that boozer never shows up in the post season. so from where i sit millsap is the better fit for the jazz. he is an energy changer for the jazz.

WoodSideLand

Sappy gets all lathered up and then he likes to feel contact. It makes him feel better to have guys banging his big body around. It make him want to go after the ball even more. It reminds me of a man named Moses who won a title back in 1983. They like to work up a good lather and then bang! bang! bang! What's A'matter Booze? Havn't ya ever heard the sound of a MAN'S voice?

Osterhag

Don't forget about how well Greg Ostertag played before he got his first big contract. The hope of money can make players do amazing things on the court.

@Miles

How can you say that Paul isn't helping us win games?? 12 straight double doubles isn't helping you win? Jerry's take that the Jazz need to sign him isn't an endorsement for Paul helping the jazz win?....I'd guess you think that CJ is helping the jazz win with his zero rebounds and no D or Booz letting people waltz through the lane helps us win? If we replaced Carlos with an equal type talent and kept Paul....we would win just as much without Booz probably more because of the time Booz misses on the court. I think people on this site realize that you'd have to replace Booz as a player on the roster, however, to say that Paul doesn't help us win is one of the dumbest things I've seen on this message board. Remember the Jazz' record with Booz is with Booz and Milsap. What would the Jazz record be without Paul??

sean

We're losing because Deron isn't 100%, not necessarily because Boozer is sitting. Boozer is an incredible offensive player, but Milly is bringing so many other things to the table. You also can't forget the impact that Ronnie B has on this team and we've been missing him as well. Hold on to your caps, Jazz fans. We're gonna be fine.

whirling_dirvish

Comparing Milsap to Ostertag??? Are you serious??? Milsap puts in consistant effort every night. Ostertag was so frusterating because never did.

STEVE-O

Milsap is a great player. He needs to establish some moves with his back to the basket, or a little jump hook to go with his great ball fake and spin moves. The positive thing is Milsap WILL work on his game! He's a guy that will never be content with his game or just be happy he's making millions of dollars. He's always gonna work.

The Jazz are losing games because literally NOBODY besides Milsap is playing! It was 1 on 5 against Boston the other night.

P.S. Miles you might wanna go back and read the article about your boyfriend CJ Miles before you talk about other players on the Jazz not performing. ZERO rebounds in 2 of the last 4 games!!

Re: sean

No, we're losing because we're getting beaten on the boards on a regular basis right now. Millsap is getting his boards, but another player on the team, namely Okur, seems too scared to bang bodies and get anything other than an easy rebound. We need his production on the glass as well as from our starting SF spot

What If...

What if Boozer comes back and the Jazz move Millsap to starting at small forward?
(1) I'd say Millsap is as much small forward as Tyronne Corbin was when he played next to Malone.
(2) Millsap is a better small forward than Harpring, neither of them is really a "wing" player.

Play Boozer at the high pick-&-roll position, with Millsap camping along the baseline by the basket.

Trade Boozer

Most of you seem to think its okay to let Boozer walk at the end of the season. Are you crazy? When have the Jazz ever gotten anyone good in free agency. Okay we got Boozer, but just because he is a traitor, and he will be leaving us soon.

I think it would be much better to trade him. Find us a decent center who can play defense. A Tyson Chandler or Marcus Camby type player. Millsap and Okur split the minutes at power forward and Koufus and Okur split the minutes at back up center. I really think we would be so much better off if we went with some defense.

Oh and I agree with whoever said Millsap needs to develop a game with his back to the basket. All he has is his spin move, but no one playing for the Jazz right now has a game with his back to the basket. Only Carlos. I still say we get rid of him and go with a center who can play defense.

Re:Sean
I would have to say that the stupid turnovers are the problem. The Jazz turn it over and the other team scores on that turnover! So Milsap putting up great stats is not going to help until they stop the turnovers! The only thing that kept them close against the Celtics was the fact that they were turning it over just as much as the Jazz were!
I am a huge fan of Milsap but he is not going to win every game for the Jazz! The little mistakes are turning out to be costly for the Jazz
