Maybe a Senior Advisor on Gangs would be appropriate. It appears that the Mayor does not have a plan to address the gang issue, but does have a "Forum," which may make recommendations that they Mayor may, or may not, choose to follow. We need action NOW!!!
This story paints a very different story than the Tribune, but begs the same question: What happened to the new era of leadership that Ralph campaigned on? Or is Rocky still on-scene?
Can I have my vote back?
What is this; Rocky Anderson again? Haven't we had enough of this garbage?
This woman was disaster and never should have been hired. To think she mushed around in City Hall for this long is a travesty. The Planning Commission had to cancel their meeting because they couldn't get a quorum, mostly because Esther has been sitting on the applications for new commissioners. Time to get some qualified people on board and jettison the cronies.
'My main focus was getting planning up and running' Who is she kidding?
I was a Becker Backer; his first year in office has been dismal at best. All he has really accomplished this past year is to push the GLBT agenda. While GLBT issues are important, there is more to life. He has done nothing for the westside of SLC. 2012 Cant come fast enough. I predict that Ralph will turn out to be a one term Mayor.
Maybe McCain's advisers were correct about that "nation of whiners" thing... For Christ sake people, you act like Ralph Becker just burnt someone at the stake... for real, get over it!!! He's an incredible man who has accomplished much; those of us who can read the paper know he's done more than just push the GLBT agenda. "Enlightened Westsider" why do you guys think everything the city does needs to be focused on the westside???? Remember, those of us on the eastside are city residents too!!! Just cause you have gang problems doesn't mean the rest of problems we're facing should be ignored.
You poor saps in Salt Lake, deserve this avenues crony. One only has to experience the submission of a building permit application to know that Rocky, or Dede's legacy is alive and well. Becker will carry on the tradition with vigor.....Would love to be able to pick up my business and move.
I hope the SL planners chill and stop letting themselves get stirred by the press (or anything else). This job is to sell papers. If the reporting didn't hit a button or two, who would read?
Every single SL planner is a solid professional. Most city employees work harder than anyone else in any other job but this is not always seen outside of the "building".
Please do not go backwards over some press article.
There is too much yet to do and the citizens of SL need your help. Ralph is a good man, a fine leader and will become a great mayor over time.
This may sound like apple pie and all but teamwork between the elected officials, the administration and the citizens can net really good results. There are detractors of a good thing in many forms. They can sap the energy right out of you. Don't let them and just get on with it. You are doing good work, it will take time but the tide is turning.
