It's about time that all schools adopt the 4 day instruction week. While it is especially desirable at schools where students travel long distances to school or athletic events, urban school could benefit as well by offering enrichment or remediation on one day of the week.
Athletes throughout the state miss at least two classes every day that they have a game. Then they cry when their grades are not perfect and they don't understand the work that needs to be made up.
Doctor, dentist, and other appointments could be made without making a child miss instruction time.
If schools must still hold classes for 180 days as well as the 990 hours, a 4 day week makes excellent sense.
