Yeah right!

How about a manditory class in sportsmanship, honor and sobriety for loser student fans who throw beer in face of opposing players at RES?

Go Mountain West

I just want to say how great it was to have three very strong teams in the conference this year. GO UTES!!! GO TCU!!! GO Cougs! Seriously, I wish that every year the conference could have three teams of such strength. And Yes, I think that TCU and Utah are about even. I owe TCU a huge thanks though, before the end of that Ute/TCU game they were the better team. Then they missed a couple of field goals making up for the field goals that Whittingham should have kicked with Sakoda but chose to punt. Without those missed field goals Brian Johnson wouldn't have had the opportunity to lead his team to glory and get the confidence that we had been waiting for him to get. Since the last two minutes of that game Johnsen has been the quarterback that the Utes need for the Alabama game. Go Mountain West Football in 2009 and beyond as well!

Pa Ute

Correction The Utes played Bill Yeoman's Houston Cougars in the Astrodome in (I think) 1978

How bout

A mandatory class in honesty for BYU players who make silly claims about fans and beer.

The utes have also played Minnesota indoors in Minneapolis, I think in Mcbrides first year. they won when they blocked a kick in the last minute. Maybe the author means only the second indoor venue for a bowl game?

DRL

Please let no one become academically ineligible as a result of these finals!

Go Utes!

Actually a class for Dicky "Homer" Harmon on truthfullness in reporting. I was on the field not far from the "alleged" incident. Dicky appears to have taken his literary license a little too far...this IS a newspaper. But then a little fiction goes a long way to sell this fish wrap.

Why is Utah the Visitor?

Can anybody tell me how the Bowls determine who is home & away? Is it record or ranking, or otherwise? Thanks.

And congratulations to linebacker Mike Wright for his engagement to Utah cheerleader Whitney Wrathall. The Utes are busy on the field and the class. They can just get it all done and win at the same time. Not nearly so one dimensional at the team down south.

Too bad

It's too bad the Utes aren't in the SEC. Here in the MWC they actually have to take their own finals.....in the SEC, football players have grad assistants and tutors taking their finals for them.

Re Too Bad

You seem a little jealous, I read that same post a few days ago. I guess that just means that Alabama will have a few more hours of practice in. So they'll either be really confident and overlooking the Utes, or very pumped up and ready to destroy. I hope it's not the latter.

RE: yeah right.

Look in the mirror you tool. I seem to remember not long ago a BYU fan jumping out of the stands and attacking a Ute cheerleader down at Rice Eccles South.

As Jan Jorgenson said there are idiots on both sides.

CrimsonUte

:( I like the red jerseys better.

re: HawkeyeUte

I watched the "alleged" incident happen, but red color-blind Utah fans will never acknowledge something like this is even possible. And, I've seen similar incidents -- Utah fans spitting, pouring drinks, throwing things at BYU fans -- happen many times in RES.

(How could the incident have happened when no beer is sold or allowed into RES?)

Just like Utah fans wouldn't have acknowledged Drca's trip if numerous replays of the blatant trip hadn't been shown on national television.

Without the replays, Utah fans would have claimed that Drca's feet just got tangled, inadvertently, with Griffin's feet.

-------------------

Good luck to Utah's football team in the Sugar Bowl. Unlike some of your fans, your team has many very classy players.

One idiot BYU fan...

attacking a Utah cheerleader who was taunting the BYU fans is a little different than a Utah fan throwing beer into the face of BYU player who did nothing to provoke the attack. The cheerleader-attacking BYU fan, the beer-throwing Utah fan, and the Utah cheerleader were all in the wrong.

btw, the Utah cheerleader who was attacked, ended up transferring to and graduating from...

BYU!

Double Standard

Let me get this straight. So it's okay for BYU fans to tell me I'm a heathen and need to repent whenever I attend a game in Lavell Stadium, but it's not okay for Utah fans to allegedly splash a little alcoholic beverage on somebody. As much as I HATE agreeing with a player from the T.D.S., I have to agree with Jorgenson when he says there are idiots on both sides. So "Yeah Right," stop being so over-sensitive and pointing the finger. We Ute fans could fire off just as many religious overtones as you do. Does "cast out the beam from thine own eye" ring any bells? Or should we just stick to slinging alcohol towards Cosmo? I'm fine either way.

"Can anybody tell me how the Bowls determine who is home & away?"

It varies from bowl to bowl.

For the Sugar Bowl, I think the SEC team, if one is playing in the Sugar Bowl, is always the home team. The SEC champ has been contractually bound to the Sugar Bowl since long before the BCS existed.

For the Las Vegas Bowl, Tina K-M, the bowl chair-woman, makes the decision, based on her favorite color, or who knows what. BYU has been the visiting team 3 of the 4 years the Cougars have played in Vegas, including this year.

Srsly

Utes in the classroom? Really?

re: double standard

No it's not alright to physically assault people. It is alright to boo and get in your head with heathen chants. It seems to be working with small minded people such as yourself.

If the BYU player said he was splashed in the face with beer then what evidence do you have to prove otherwise?
