I'm glad to see someone finally refer to iProvo as a failed project and not get sucked into Lewis billings' spin. Slow and steady has always been a good approach to growth.

Did Hugh Matheson write this article? Why didn't the reporter mention all of UTOPIA's broken promises, like ubiquity and no risk to taxpayers?

Just how much money is UTOPIA losing?

What's UTOPIA's subscriber breakeven point and how far away are they from that?

UTOPIA's new mantra: UTOPIA didn't work because they right people weren't in charge. Whatever.

Please have someone proofread your web page; it reads like a twelve-year-old text-messager with an unreliable shift key wrote it.

What a joke. He fails to mention that Frontier provides DSL to over 90% of the rural areas they cover in Box Elder County-- far exceeding what Qwest provides even in the Metro areas they cover. He is gambling with tax payer money and their uptake rate in this purported "under served area" is abysmal! If everyone in Tremonton is so unhappy with their broadband services, then why aren't they forming long lines to sign up??? Rich took a big gamble, and so far, he is losing. Stop trying to smear Frontier and just admit you were wrong!!!

Utopia and Mstar are horrible. Promises, promises,constantly raising rates, and failing customer service. My service is constantly shutting down, while temporarily, it stll gets quite annoying. Leave this product out of your home, you will be much happier in the long run.

If every person in Tremonton takes UTOPIA they will still go broke. Rich Woodworth needs to figure out what he's going to say when the house of cards comes crashing down. I heard the take rates in Qwest and Frontier aren't where they should be and what is going to happen when someone dials 911? Their house will burn to the ground because the fire truck is going to show up at the UTOPIA hub and NOT at the burning house! SHAME ON YOU UTOPIA

I don't get why people are complaining about this.

Where I live I have two choices: Qwest DSL and Comcast and they both leave much to be desired.
I was a former Comcast customer but once they introduced corporate policies to meddle with my legal Bit Torrent usage (linux ISO's for example), I dropped them _really_ fast; I felt like I was being treated like a criminal and I was a paying customer. Their upload speed was pathetic too.

Now Qwest DSL has been more reliable usually but my DSL was down for almost 48 hours the last few days and that really angered me. Plus, the max speed I can get is 1.5Mbps and everyone around me seems to be able to get faster and faster speeds.

In short, I would love to have UTOPIA and I would sign up for it TODAY.

UTOPIA has been great, our internet is SCREAMING FAST and never goes down, the phone is crystal clear and never out. If you can get it, GET IT!

Oh I get it, UTOPIA was doing so well they had to refinance the taxpayers bond debt to 33 years. Silly me, as a taxpayer who has to help finance this albatross hung around the taxpayers other debt load from muncipal governments other bad choices, 500 new subscribers a month won't get the job done.
The poor saps in Centerville will now be stuck with additional loss of revenues if they get stuck with their councils RDA plan for UTOPIA.
Thought RDA's were suppose to be used to remove old brick and mortar as incentives to developers, not finance a pig like UTOPIA.
UTOPIA, UTOPIA, UTOPIA, by anyother name it still is a pig.

I love the model of service providers competing on a common infrastructure. I see UTOPIA's model as the only hope to move Utah into the next century in a timely fashion. Personally I can't wait for the day when I have the bandwidth to:
- Do online backups (including pix and music)
- Download HD movies on demand
- share GNU/Linux iso's via bittorrent
- Move large files back & forth from work (telework)
- Play online games with decent latency.
- etc....

I am a fiber-optics engineer for more than 20 years and live in Cedar Hills right now. I had been Comcast cable (in NH and UT), Time Wanner cable (in NY state) and Qwest DSL (in UT) customer, so have first-hand experience what they are. FTTH is the future for everybady. Period! Don't cry like a baby, UTOPIA works. I hate why they didn't bring the UTOPIA to Cedar Hills sooner?
