Go for it, Mitt! In 4 years, the citizens will be ready to vote for you.
I will reserve judgement until Mitt Romney and not his spokesman explain why the funds were not used as much as those who contributed thought he would. I believe Mitt Romney is a man of integrity, and articles like this can spread doubt onto that integrity, so it behoove Mitt Romney to be forthright in his purposes with those contributions. In a time where hundreds of millions of dollars were spent, every candidate is responsible for being a good steward of the funds entrusted. I personally believe it is an outragous thing for so much money to be spent in a time when we need the money to strenghthen our failing economy.
The Boston Globe's anti-Romney rhetoric is both tiring and unsurprising. Let analyze Mr. Romney's apparent sins according to the Globe:
1) He has only used 12% of his PAC money to make direct financial contributions to fellow Republicans.
2) He has spent more than twice as much on staff salaries and contracts to hire professional fundraisers
3) A mailed fundraising solicitation from his PAC was allegedly deceptive"
Although the Globe appears desperate to find ulterior motives in Mr. Romneys PAC, his actions read like those of someone with executive experience. Hes using some funds for direct financial contributions and a majority to pay other fundraisers. Hes also raising funds, in person, on behalf of fellow Republicans. That all sounds like a private sector-type operation with a get the most bang for your buck mentality to me. As for sin #3, hes doing what it said hell do: supporting them and ensuring they have the assistance they need to win, regardless of whether its directly or through his employees. After stripping away the speculation about a future Presidential run, the article leaves us with the impression hes creative and resourceful. Those sounds like qualities we could use in any future President.
What a putz!
You really have to dig into this story to find the real truth. The headline and sub-head (which are subtly different, but even more misleading than those it ran with in The Boston Globe--courtesy of the Deseret News copy desk) and the lead paragraph claim that Mitt Romney has spent a bulk of his PAC's funds on something other than campaigning for conservative candidates--chiefly to prepare for 2012. But buried halfway through the story is the revelation that most of the PAC's funds spent to date (they conveniently neglected to mention the amount) were used, in fact, to keep Mitt Romney on the road full-time between the convention and the general election, campaigning in "28 congressional districts, six U.S. Senate races, two state races, and that he appeared at 37 events on behalf of John McCain."
As usual, the Globe has sensationalized the story by twisting the facts and burying the truth. Sad that the Deseret News would be complicit in this type of shady, agenda-driven "journalism".
Talk about much ado about nothing!!
The Boston press must hate Romney so much that they try to smear Romney when it looks like everything he did was legal and appropriate. Having Romney on your side campaigning for you was a big deal to conservative candidates and him coming is not cheap, but not charged to the candidate. And just because the candidate should win his/her election does not mean that they would nor does it warrant whether a donation would be made or not.
This article twists the legal and appropriate purposes of the PAC into making it sound lurid and deceptive. Not one supposed "fact" brought out in the article sounded bad when viewed at arms length.
Boston . . . get over it!! Romney is a good man no matter what you write.
I like Romney in principle as a fix-it man and for his ability to work across party lines. But he made a huge mistake in my book trying to move so far right to pick up the Bush Repubs (especially in a year when the electorate wanted somethinge else).
Romney needs to be more moderate to win the party and the election and he comes off disingenuous as a Conservative. He also cannot articulate why we should vote for him as president. His campaign really needs to be re-thought.
Another GOP winner. Imagine how he could slaughter America. When will people get it that these demons leave carnage in their path.
Greetings:
Way back when Mitt Romney was openly campaigning for the Republican Party's presidential nomination, I was chowing down in our mess hall, when I was asked by another guy if I was going to vote for Romney.
I told him, "No", and he wondered why, since Romney and I are both Mormons.
I told him I would love to see a Mormon become President of the United States, but not this Mormon.
When will the Republicans learn?
The reason they lost the election (or deliberately threw it?) is precisely because voters who cling to traditional American values are FED UP with continually being betrayed by Republicans who don't act like Republicans.
Romney is just another status quo "RINO", more of the same ol' same ol'.
When will we get someone who valiantly stands by the Constitution and openly supports inalienable rights?
I predict that if Mitt Romney runs again, Mitt Romney will lose again, and for the same reason as the last time.
Thank you.

What is the point of this story? To me, it is a non-story until every candidate is looked into. What has McCain and Palin done? What about Obama? He has far more troubling activities going on in his fundraising schemes. This is nothing more than picking out one candidate, crying foul, when in reality every candidate is doing some form of this. This is the definition of a non-story.
It is too ad that rekigion is so related with politics. LDS's stand againt gay marridge is going to hurt his bid for presidency.
Republican candidates: Palin and Obama.
Looks like we have a two-term democrat coming right up...
I hope he does. America needs his mind and heart. I would vote for him in a minute. America is quite messed up right now and needs someone good to help it out of the muck and mire... I only hope he wants to.
By the way, the Globe has yet again tried to make Mitt look bad. Well, he has done nothing illegal and he could only help us... if we deserve him is another question... and I wish it was now for him...
I am very glad that Mitt will be running again. There is now some hope and light shining through this forest of dispair. My only request is that Mitt not give up until the convention votes are counted in the fall of 2012. What we have going into the White House now is a disgrace and will be ignored by all decent people. It will be great to have a real conservative at the forefront of the GOP rather than a R.I.N.O. like John McCain.
Mitt, you can count on me and millions of others who see the potential of having a businessman in the Oval Office rather than a "Populist". I hope that you can prove again that Conservatism always works and Socialism NEVER does!
I really didn't like the tone of this article because the author was looking for fault as if there was a reward for it. Mitt, with God's help will overcome the naysayers and JUST DO IT!
So is this news or editorial opinion? Nice to see the media still on the job.
I can't believe you wrote a whole article about this. Sounds like you just don't like him. You mention no one else who is upset about it. I personally believe that he did a lot of good campaigning for others after he withdrew from the race. I don't have any problem with his organization spending this money. How else is he going to get this message out? If it benefits him then fine, after all he is campaigning for ideals in which he believes. Why don't you ask for a refund and let me know how much it is and I will replace it in kind.
Similiar to Obama, the most significant and useful support that a nationally recognized political figure can do to support another candidate in his party is to visibly stand with him. Making appearances by his side and campaigning in his state/district is a win win for Romney. He continues to keep his name recognition high as well as boosting another's recognition. I would hate for him to use all of this money to support others while he fades into yesterday's wallpaper.
I would love for Romney to be elected President in 2012 but I really can't take anymore election talk for awhile. Obama isn't even officially President and here we go again
Why do these writers believe that the best way to support Republicans is by giving them money. It seems that Mitt believes the best support he can give is to speak and be there in person supporting other Republicans. If he is spending his contributions doing this then why cry foul. He's not throwing million dollar parties or supporting government "bail outs" of the richest, most greedy, irresponsible people in America.
Can I get 10 minutes of silence from this political bull. When you boil this stuff down it's either build up your candidate or tear down the other guy and I am sick of reading about it. I would have been well informed to read "looks like Mitt is gearing up for 2012" but this isn't it. instead I get 110% slant from both sides. Give it a rest. Take a vacation. Write a novel. Just shut up about elections for a minute.
