One of the few apostles I've met. God be with his family. What a humble, friendly, kind servant of the Lord.
God bless this wonderful, righteous, humble man who so magnified his calling and his life. I will really miss him at April conference. I'm sure President Hinckley has already said to him again, "Joseph, you've grown into it!"
ELDER WIRTHLINS, SON'S TALK WAS ONE OF THE BEST TALKS THAT I HAVE EVER HEARD. IT HAD TRUE MEANING, AND CAME DIRECTLY FROM HIS HEART. VERY GOOD AND WISE COUNSEL.
VERY NICE SERVICE.
Gracias Elder Wirthlin por ensearnos a sobrellevar la adversidad con una nueva actitud, gracias por su servicio abnegado y fiel.
I watched the service at our chapel and it was an eloquent and beautiful tribute to a truly great man.
The service was a wonderful and spiritual occasion, and yes, Joseph Jr.'s talk was beautiful, as were the others.
My compliments to Coach Whittingham for placing "JBW" on the backs of the players' helmets. Although I'm a die-hard Cougar fan, I must say: "Go Utes!"
Thanks for the great example you are to us all Elder Wirthlin. We Love you and will miss your powerful presents.
I was uplifted by the funeral for Elder Worthlin and the tribute to him by his son, as well as the apostles and President Monson shows the love they and all of us had for this dear, humble servant of the Lord.
I too comment Coach Wittingham on his decision to pay tribute to the team's honorary chaplin and Say, "Go, Utes!"
Dear Joe: Your father, our leader; my heartfelt condolences to you and your family. We will all miss him. East High 1962 classmate, Shauna Gygi Forsyth
There was no mention in the article about times or channels of a rebroadcast of the services for those of us who missed it. Can anyone tell me when it might be rebroadcast?
What an awesome tribute, Coach Kyle. You have melted this Cougar-blue heart into tears of red.
What a great man! He has been an inspiration to me.
I would personally like to express my admiration and appreciation and extend the condolences of the Salt Lake Chamber to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to the Wirthlin family for the passing of Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin. His rich contribution to our community will not soon be forgotten and he will be missed.
Elder Wirthlin was born and raised in Salt Lake City. He graduated from the University of Utah where he excelled in the classroom and on the football field. He was a prominent businessman in Salt Lake City and served as president of a trade association here in Utah.
We are blessed with an incredible spirit of community and caring in Utaha spirit exemplified by the life of Elder Wirthlin.
I shall miss Elder Wirthlin's wonderful talks. I shall miss him.
"Sunday will come".
He was truly a man of God. His sense of humor and humility and charity exemplify the very best of what Christianity is about. Our family's prayers go out to the family of Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin. Amen to a life well-lived.
I'm another true blue Cougar who will root for the U while they wear JBW on their helmets.
We're all Utah fans today, and when Utah plays next. Win one for speedy.
It is so sad that such a great man has died. May his family find peace and comfort at this time. And yes, THANK YOU to Coach Wittingham for honoring this great man. Hopefully everyone will see that not all Utah fans are drunk and obnoxious. He was a great example to us all!
I found it on LDS.org. Very inspiring service.
I too commend Coach Whittingham for this tribute. And I'll miss Elder Wirthlin.
But I'm true blue and I'll never pull for the Utes or the Irish.
We love you Elder Wirthlin. I will miss your talks at conference, your humility, testimony and humor. One of the best was the last...Come what may, and love it.
