Gary Gary Gary! | 1:05 a.m. Dec. 5, 2008
Take the time off to recruit and go house hunting in Logan. Do you really want to suffer the humiliation of watching Alabama run rough shod over your defense? Or how about Texas punting only once and putting up 52 points on the board.

If you happen to draw Florida, they will score 62 by half time.

I love the U and hope that they win but let's be realistic.
Florida | 5:10 a.m. Dec. 5, 2008
There is a good chance they could get Florida if they lose, and what committee could pass up the chance matchup UF and Utah. Utah will then know what's it's like to have the score run up on them. It's Meyer style.

As for Gary, you got your team where they are. You owe them 100% of your efforts. You can recruit later, you'll have years to do it. To say you are only wanting to think about USU just to get fans excited is not right. You are not keeping friends at your old school

Let Coach Andersen continue to coach - to the end of the bowl game. He is key part of the defense. He has the ability to make his players perform. He was part of the success of this team. He is trusted and well respected by his players. No time to be petty. Only Professionals on this staff. Plenty of time in the off-season to prepare Utah St. or for us to find a new Defensive Coordinator.

Your best chance to have some of these players tranfer to Logan High is to get them while their down. After the beat down about to come to them at the hands of Oscar Myer and the Gators you will have a chance to recruit right in the locker room after the game.

Re: Gary Gary Gary! | 10:21 a.m. Dec. 5, 2008
Perhaps you are confused. It's UTAH that will be playing in the Sugar Bowl or Fiesta Bowl, not Utah State. Yes, Utah State would get trounched by any team in a BCS Bowl.

Utah will compete just fine against Alabama, Florida or Texas. Disagree? Then you must be a jealous kewgs fan hoping for Utah to get destroyed because your team isn't good enough to get to a BCS game. You don't "love the U".

Good luck Coach Andersen! I hope you have time to prepare for the Utes bowl game and join your team in Phoenix or New Orleans, if not, good luck with the Aggies!

GO UTES!!
No time to lose | 10:34 a.m. Dec. 5, 2008
Coach A is an Aggie now.

I'm sure he feels some responsibility to help the Utah players he's coached in their upcoming bowl, but his allegiance lies with Utah State now and he has a responsibility to give 100% of his effort to getting the Aggie football program off to a good start next season.

That starts with recruiting.

Coach A has a ton of work to do to finalize this year's recruiting class. He needs to evaluate every returning player and decide where the Aggies have holes to fill and if he has the right players coming into the program to fill those holes. Then he needs to evaluation every recruit and decide which to continue recruiting as well as which to drop. Finally, he needs to decide whether the Aggies need to find additional recruits, maybe even some of the players he's been recruiting for Utah.

Coach A also needs to assemble a coaching staff, which could involve taking a couple of Utah's assistant coaches with him.

I don't see how Coach A can accomplish all that and still have time to properly prepare the Utes for their bowl game.

I guess a lot of you feel pretty empty right now heading to a bowl game that nobody cares about. So to fill the void you try and talk smack on a Utah article...

What happened to all that talk about your savior/coach being up for every big time job around the country?? I guess once people found out that he couldn't beat teams with winning records they didn't want him.

Keep your smack talk for the 5th ranked PAC 10 team that you are about to play in the Quest for 3rd bowl.

On another note....

Good luck coach Anderson - it would be great if they can make it work so that you can be on the sidelines for our bowl game - if not good luck at Utah State - hopefully you can turn that program around.

GO UTES!!!

I'm confident that Kyle Whittingham can coach a defense if he needs to. And the Utes will defeat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, after their hearts are broken by Florida this weekend.

IF you think that Utah would get destroyed by a BCS elite team.....it makes we wonder what would happen if BYU played one of those teams- (it would be like when they played Notre Dame and everyone in the press box was laughing at BYU's defense-

Utah has a good "D" that will help them stay close for a while and maybe magic can happen!
Little Brother Syndrome | 11:35 a.m. Dec. 5, 2008
Even on an article about losing one of their top coaches to Utah State, Utah fans are compelled to talk smack about BYU. Classic little brother syndrome. Everything in the world revolves around comparing themselves to their big brother.

Can't wait for the full-scale barrage of invectives coming back from Utah fans, when their real focus should be on how losing Coach Andersen, and possibly two other assistant coaches, could affect their bowl game preparation.
re: little brother syndrome | 11:47 a.m. Dec. 5, 2008
Please explain how ute fans are the ones with little brother syndrome when two of the four first comments are obvious coog fans ripping on Utah on a Utah article. Should we even bring up the fact of you yourself posting here? This just in; pot calls kettle black.
re: little brother syndrome | 12:05 p.m. Dec. 5, 2008
just curious, shouldnt the big brother always beat the little brother. So since Utah leads the head to head matchups does that mean BYU is in fact the "Little Brother" or is it a god thing.
I think everyone is forgetting who the real defensive mind on the team is, Coach Kyle Whittingham. He will have the team more than ready and they will be coached very well. Utah will matchup very well with alabama and will be able to put points on the board and stop the running attack. Everything will be just fine

You're right... they would get killed!!! I'm a BYU fan and not afraid to admit that fact! And to be honest I'd bet 95% of Cougar fans would also admit that! Get off yourselves Utes fans, we're not blind idiotic fans. We realize BYU doesn't belong with the elite teams. Top 20 maybe, but definitely not top 10. I watched every away game and went to every home game, I know this. And to stick with the brother theme, the Cougars are the little brother this year....we LOST! Plain and simple. Utes were better, but here's to next year being the bigger brother! Go Cougars!

Blue fans, remember 2004 the whole coaching staff was not at the U when they were preparing for the BCS game then, actually I remember the seniors and captains running the practice, and we destroyed Pitt. No one gave the Utes a chance then and no one gives the Utes a chance now. No worries Utah will destroy who ever they play.
Who's next? | 12:35 p.m. Dec. 5, 2008
the question is what other coaches if any are going to also leave and when? who will they be replaced by? If this can all be reslolved in the next week or so I do not see it having a negative effect.
As good as Aderson was for the U, Kyle is the Jedi Master and will have the D totally prepared.
Y are we here? | 12:39 p.m. Dec. 5, 2008
The tdS isn't the U's "little brother". They're the U's "whiney little brother".

The fact is Gary Anderson "Took The Job" at Utah State, this means he is now the HEAD COACH of the AGGIES, and has responsibilities at Utah State! If he wanted to coach the Utes, they should not have made the announcement until after the Bowl Game, but they didn't, so he is THE AGGIE COACH! Clean out your office and move to Logan my friend, contact other assistants and contact the local high school players you had soft verbals from at the "U", and get them to come to Utah State! It is a pretty simple thing! That is what he has to do! Whittingham is a defensive coach, so he can handle it. Either DO BOTH, or do USU, it's that simple, you could use your coaching for the bowl game as a recruiting tool, invite some of the kids you want to recruit to practice to watch you and your methods! They will see the love your kids have for you and want to play at USU! Congratulations USU, I wish your program well!
Andersen shouldn't coach | 2:12 p.m. Dec. 5, 2008
I think Coach Andersen did a phenemonal job this year and realize that he was a huge part of the Utes success. However, now that he is the USU coach he needs to focus his time with the Aggies. I don't want a half-hearted coach, coaching the Utes in the bowl game when his mind is somewhere else.
If the job was on the other side of the country I don't see it being that big of a deal, but since he took a job where he'll be recruiting some of the same kids, he definitely needs to go.

Good luck Couch Anderson. There is so much hyperbole on these posts. "No worries Utah will destroy who ever they play." I don't think they're going to destroy anyone short maybe of an ACC team. They don't have to destroy anyone either. All I ask is that they prepare well, and give it their best.

Go Utes!

What a moron. Typical poor sport. The type that will always remain a loser, even win his team is winning.
