I would just like to thank the DN for their continued support of Utah High School Athletics. Thanks for your continued coverage week in and week out. Your 2008 HS Football coverage has been head and shoulders above the Salt Lake Tribune. It is nice that we have an outlet that devotes a high level of coverage to 2A athletics. My Son was a first team selection this year and he appreciated the acknowledgement he and his other teammates received tonight. Athletes, parents and fans really appreciate the dedication.

The Des news does a great job in selecting their all-state teams. Someone needs to tell me how Karl Williams from Layton got selected 1st team all-state running back by the SLC trib???????

i noticed that one of your players made all state in the salt lake trib. but not the des news. and he missed more than half the season. how does that work. he must of had some pretty good stats.that doesnt make make sence to me. 12-1 record you must of had some other players that deserved it more than him. injured or not thats part of football. i smell something fishy here. someone let me know

cause i was at the awards banquit. my son made the 3a ist team. all i know is he didnt make des news ist team. so i dont know why he was even there.mabe its a 2a thing

The trib & dnews hold a combined banquet for their all-state teams. It was Monday night. The players/coaches were notified of the selections and attended, it just hasn't hit print yet. And again, the players are selected via coaches voting, so get off the "DNews does a great job" "the Trib doesn't" or vice versa kick. Some coaches obviously vote differently on their ballots to make sure as many deserving kids get recognized as possible. There's always going to be somebody who disagrees, because "our little Johnny" is always better than the guy who got recognized.

on your comment on the kid that made 1st team slt trib but not1st team des news. was the jones kid. witch he is a great player. and did miss alot of games do to being sick. and then getting hurt.and yes there were alot of kids that deserved to make it. that played every game.and it is a good point. how does coaches vote for a kid they dont see play? i dont know the awnser to that.and i dont think we played 13 games. i think it was more like 10-1. lost in the finals. but we had a good year and the kids played there hearts out.
