Wes Richins should be MR Football he has already signed with florida as both D tackle and O tackle.

#3 from Cottonwood.
Alex Trebek | 1:06 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Mr. Football: Xavier Su'a Filo, Timpview

5A MVP: Ammon Olson, Alta

4A MVP: Levi Te'o, Timpview

3A MVP: Morales Kid (don't know his first name), Juan Diego

Don't know about 2A and 1A.
ha ha | 1:14 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
do I smell a threepeat for Alta?
BigD | 1:31 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Who is wes richens? He doesn't appear anywhere on recruiting sites.
Manning? | 1:33 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Not even the best QB in Utah. Breck Lewis is.
HSFAN | 1:34 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
He won't get it....but he deserves it?

Alta's Parker Webster is my Mr. Football!
Mr. Football | 1:38 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Mr. Football should be Justin Ence of PV. No other player could man up like he did and have the impact that he had on "both" offense and defense.
Manning | 2:04 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Manning is the best QB in the state and should win the award. He probably wont because the Grizz lost in the quarter finals. Levi Te'o from T-View is who I say wins it.
I'm Just a Girl but... | 2:07 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
I think it is going to be Ammon olson for sure... he was an amazing player to watch...

but next year i see it being harvey langi... that kid is the real deal
wj kid | 2:14 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
maybe ammon olson? he did kinda lead alta to the 5A state championship
Anonymous | 2:18 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
I think Bret Engemann will win it.
It should be | 2:22 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Webster.
NB | 2:25 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
NBMHS?
Anonymous | 2:27 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
I agree with trebek!
Mr. Football... | 2:32 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
...should be Justin Ence. Not for who's recruiting him...or how many D1 prospects helped him look better...or how much exposure he has by the press, because none of those things are headline elements for him. He should be Mr. Football because, pound for pound, hit for hit, run for run, he was the best all around football player in the state. Period.
Utah Man | 2:35 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
The Utes will be excited to have him, he can join the others.
Colt Tyler | 2:38 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
ISI SOFELE! Watch him play one game, oh and take a gander at his stats.
Olson | 2:45 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
I think that it will be olson with Su'filo right behind him. Next year it will be either Harvey Langi, or Alex Kuresa from MC. Teddy Owens, From PG will be in the mix, as well as Bronson Kafusi from Timpview.
Bid Siddle | 2:45 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
I Vote for Big Pepsi also. U can't go Wong with that pick. He always pt his shldr to da whl.
Engamann? | 2:51 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Whoa I totally forgot about him... the only BYU QB to throw more interceptions that TD's!
It should be | 2:52 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Derek Eliason from Hurricane.
KG | 2:53 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
No votes for Gordie Dotson? leading rusher in the state?
Not Utah | 3:07 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
It's going to be a Timpview kid, and no Timpview kid is going to go to Utah.
What about | 3:26 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Remington Peck - Region 3 and Bingham MVP. I can't think of a more deserving kid.
Provo Coach | 3:27 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
He might not make the best Division I player, nor was he the fastest player out there, nor was he the one that threw for the most yards but I can't think of a player that met for his team than Justin Ence of Pine View. With him they made the 4-A semi-finals, without him I hate to figure. He regularly pass and run for 200 yards (in each category) and start at free safety. He was a true two-way weapon who carried his team on his back. Yes, there are athletes that I'm sure will have larger careers than him likely (Sofele, Peck, X, Van Leuwen, Bills and even Miles from our program etc.), but I thought for a high school player he was the real deal and met the most to his team's success...
Ute Fan | 3:34 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
If you were to look at the productivity of a player, Manning had it all even in just 12 games, 54 TD's. 4000 total offense. Lewis had great passing yards as well as Olsen. Olsen had the championship even though the athleticism is was little rough. It will be intersting to see how Mr. FB is decided.
Coach E | 3:41 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
The Sua Filo kid from Timpview is by far the best player in the state (Period). he may not get it because he's a lineman, but he should.
Leaders | 3:45 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Look at the stats:

Hart number 1 QB
Webster number 1 WR
Sofele number 1 RB

Just because your team is the best in the state doesn't mean a player from that team has to be Mr. Football. Its a team game.

My choice would be Sofele. What a work horse. He made Romero look a lot better than he was.

Don't forget about | 3:53 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Remington Peck! Bingham High and Region 3 MVP. He is very deserving.
Not Utah?? | 3:55 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Tell the Krugers that!!
Big Jake | 3:59 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
What about Lofthouse from MC. close to 100 solo tackles & lots of hardnosed yardage on offense even though he shared rushing duties with another All State quality rusher in Alex Knowles. I think he even threw a few TDs off of laterals from Kuresa.
Kruger's from Timpanogos | 4:00 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
But we will take a Timpview kid all the same!
Anonymous | 4:01 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Mr Rayburn, it's 4:00 pm, where is the story?
RE Leaders | 4:01 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Hart didn't have the stats of Manning or Olsen. Remember rushing yards and TD's as well. I like Sofele

The most unbiased, truly objective comment detectable in this entire blog, but, doesn't matter now. I'm sure Bills is a great player and will do well in the future. Congrats to him.
Cottonwood guy | 6:34 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Bills??

Are you kidding me probably the 4th best player on that team.

It went SuaFilo, Rumsey, Van Luewen, that MAYBE Bills, maybe. (or Teo, or Badger, or ...)

We game planned to ran AT him, he will be another slow tweener safety/backer at BYU. Not big enough to be a LB, not fast enough to be a DB.

Good job BYU! Way to offer EARLY
Alex Trebek | 6:37 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
If anyone saw the 4A state title game you would know it HAS to be Xavier Su'a Filo. The kid took over that game and won it by willing his team to victory. Factor in that the kid is a Offensive lineman who was used to play defensive line in the playoffs. The kid dominated both sides of the ball. He made the Martinez kid look like a 2nd class citizen (not saying that he is, X just made him look that way). He even had a blocked punt to set up a Timpview score! Manning, Ence, Sofele, et al may have the glossier stats, but believe me, this Xavier kid is a once in a generation player and will be named Mr. Football. It will only be the 2nd time a lineman has been named Mr. Football. (Ray Feinga was the first and I think it's working out pretty good for him as he prepares for the NFL draft this spring.)

To Cottonwood Guy:

Sour grapes, my friend. Your game plan obviously didn't work.
