Mediate........steal a churches property and redistribute the property to non-church members then "mediate" to allow non church members access to church services.

OK..........mediate this..... take the Fischer money away from Wisan and send the non-FLDS away and leave the FLDS in peace.

This looks like a godly mess to say the least. These people are way off in never never land.

Too many thieves amongst the FLDS people. If they are not stealing each others wives, or government goods, then they are stealing property from each other.

They are too religious for me...lol!

At times, the FLDS' prodigious sense of entitlement is truly breathtaking.

I wonder if Colgrove built that home she's living in. What's her claim to the home? Just how many ex-FLDS members did Wisan persuade to immigrate to the holy land to butt out the incumbents? How much is Fischer paying Colgrove to be a nuisance to the FLDS?

First settle the real issues of whether there indeed were any "allegations of mismanagment" in the first place. Then you can talk about "mediation" with the newcomers.

Yep, it's the typical fundie "love they neighbor" mentality. Too bad Utah didn't clean this mess up long ago...
re: Joey | 2:52 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
As an ex-FLDS member, Stephanie Colgrove is far from a 'newcomer' to the area. And, from the sounds of it, all she is doing is quietly occupying a house she legally obtained the right to live in and making improvements on the property. That isn't what I would call a nuisance!

If the FLDS want to be welcomed in any community they choose to establish themselves in, they need to be a lot more welcoming of these so-called newcomers in the twin towns. Tolerance isn't a one-way street.

And the issue about 'allegations of mismanagement' was settled a long time ago. Like it or lump it, everyone needs to move on!

Looks like Wisan is running his own private diversity program.

Take homes from the owners and replace the residents with their "enemies". After a few dozen ex-flds wisan will start with passing out homes to members of other minority groups.

We will have the Wisan rainbow neighborhood in a few years when Wisan recruits a few gays to diversify the town.

ShortCreek.......a truly diverse culture may even get the national award for the first truly diverse town in the US.

Flora was seen picking out her condo site just last week and the place will have its own broadcast studio so that Oprah can get live feed without the travel expenses.

Texas is cleaning them up for us, and now for some reason they decided they want back to persecution - land?

Amazed I am, lemme tell ya! lol

Abandon your house, your neighbors, good luck.

Losers weepers finders keepers.

Verrryy strange.

Now the flds is doing what they accused Texas of doing. They screamed constitutional rights violation, etc, but, because they are now doing it, it's right? I DON'T THINK SO!

If the former occupants of a "rented" house left, and the current owners (the administrator of the UEP) found a new tenant, what gives the past occupant any rights at all to the house?

From what I've gleaned, the past occupants left for greener pastures, leaving the keys to the UEP, then when they found the pastures were brown, decided to come back.

To them I say...

Build a new house.
Joey | 5:08 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Sacrament, John Nielsen Jeffs built the home. I think he has a right to his own home. And if Wisan, Fischer and the "revised" UEP play by their own rules, he'd get his home back if he returns. His being FLDS should not be held against him.
re: Joey | 7:29 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
You can't abandon your house and expect it to be 'held' for you indefinitely.

Besides, Warren Jeffs has kicked people out of their own homes, homes they built themselves or improved, and were currently living in, plenty of times. The only thing is, he also takes your wife and kids while he's at it.
J | 7:39 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
I want whats mine and thats the wives, plus the house. You cannot expect me to raise the kids from two previous marriages arranged by Warren. The man who took my last wife for one of his wives needs to fork out some money too. But the house is mine!
huh? | 8:26 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
oh please!
The FLDS are just too late | 1:03 p.m. Dec. 5, 2008
I don't understand why the FLDS don't get it - that they are taking this action later than they should have. They were begged to come to the bargaining table to settle the issues about this land, property, and homes. But the FLDS thought that if they ignored the pleas, they would not have their land in jeopardy. But now that the loss of the homes is upon them, now they ask that the process be held up so that they can sit down and negotiate settlement. Why (Joey et al) is it that now, is the appropriate time to speak up? Why not a year ago?

debater needs to:

1 - find his CAP-lock key
2 - figure out his parodies aren't actually funny

and Joey - "the holy land"??? you're in the wrong country, dude. it's just desolete dried-out farmland. It's not even where J Smith supposedly used seer stones to magically talk to angels. It's just an old farm, dude. What's so holy about that? Oh - wait - it's owned by a group running a pyramid scam - is that the holy part?

and zxcvbnm - it would be a good thing to diversify in Short Creek. Give them a taste of reality (no pun intended).

And we're not going to send Oprah - we're going to send Rosie O'donnell. And since the FLDS doesn't like dogs, we'll let Michael Vick and his crew relocate there when he gets out of prison. Now THAT would be funny...
Happy Camper | 4:17 p.m. Dec. 5, 2008
If Warren is a real prophet I am sure he had a revelation and saw all this coming. It is a sad joke when humans declare themselves a spokesperson for God. It is all about ego for people like this.
appostate | 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5, 2008
i am a individual that is renting a home from the U.E.P trust and i would like to point out that no one has come to knock on my door and told me to go-yet anyway. But the so called Flds really had no choice to put ugly walls up around there home when the media are poking there cameras in the window. but if your are the godly people act like it and the cops need to support everyoine and not just your people or quit! i have to a mit I have been teated very badly by the flds and hate it. I don't want my kids growing up here even though my family is still here. grow up people!you left the homes!!

Thank you Ben for stating the facts and not letting your personal opinion get in the way (unlike some other reporter we know). again thank you.
deci | 9:13 a.m. Dec. 9, 2008
appostate, then pack up and leave! Why are you there in the first place? The UEP was intented for members in good standing, there is plenty of homes available outside of the UEP
re appostate and deci | 2:35 p.m. Dec. 9, 2008
appostate - you are obviously FLDS, or ex-FLDS, or you definately need to sue your school teachers. That comment is so full of english flaws, I am just speechless. Wow - I mean you should be thoroughly embarrassed...

and deci - Why are you there? The FLDS (and UEP) is one big pyramid scam (and taliban wanna-be). You take people's money and then kick them out. People that rent houses have a contractual right to occupy them. If you don't like it, don't rent them houses. If it's out of your control, then move. There's plenty of good homes in Afghanistan....
