This man is a true angel. He is forever touching lives. May God keep him young and strong for a very long time as he makes a difference in many kids lives.
We need more people like this in the world. We need more people to go out of their way to help their fellow person. The bus driver in this story is amazing, we need more like him!!!
Thank you so much for a beautiful story about a school bus driver who really cares for his students. I know there are many bus drivers who care just as much for their charges, but we never hear about it. This story really does show that the driver is not just trying to run a route and get home. Thanks to all the school bus drivers who put up with much and care for the safety of our students.
I`m glad to see this article. There is another bus driver in Manti that drives special ed kids. His Name is Lynn Nuffer. What a couple of great guys..
What a wonderful story. THANKS!!!
How blessed he is to daily interact with Celestial Beings. We all should be so blessed!!!
Thanks for a great story about a wonderful man making a positive difference in the lives of these special children.
Charles Wilkinson calls these students "angels."
I think it is Charles who is the angel.
A great man and example for all of us to emulate.
Having had a special needs child in my family, all I have to say is thank you Charles, from the bottom of my heart. It's truely the little things that can make or break a family with special needs, knowing the man who takes your child to school everyday cares enough to know their favorite toy is one of many small comforts that turn a bad day to a good one.
What a neat story, these truely are "Charlie's Angels" What a great person he is!
What an amazing man! My daughter has special needs and rides a bus to school each day in Alpine District. Her bus drivers have also been terrific! Marshall, Mary, and Joyce have become special people to my daughter as well as the terrific aides who support the children on the bus. Kindness goes such a LONG way!
Inasmuch as this man has done it unto one of the least of these his brethren, he has done it unto the Lord. In the day of reckoning, this kindness will be on his life record, and every one of these students will vouch for him.
My special needs son and his brother ride the bus together in Davenport, Iowa. I can only wish for a driver HALF as wonderful as Mr. Wilkinson. The boys afternoon driver constantly harps about my son putting his feet on the seat and apparently that just makes him uncontrollable. Then 2 weeks ago, he didn't change the route info so the sub driver brought them home instead of the sitter and they were home alone for at least an hour before we found them!! God bless Mr. Wilkinson, and I pray this story changes the minds and hearts of some of the other drivers out there!!
I have a cousin with CP and another with Autism. It's refreshing to read what you wrote as I read so much of man's hatred towards man, so much of negative news, so much of the darker side of humanity. Of course, "if only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being" (Gulag Archipelago). Sadly most of what is read is the negative side because most of what is published (and therefore promoted) is the negative side. What's refreshing about what you write is that you capture that good side. The positive. Capturing and then conveying it promotes it.
Kudos to you and Deseret News for publishing and promoting the good side of humanity.
Charles WIlkinson is an incredible humanitarian (and his passengers are incredible to say the least). I love this man with all of my heart. . .Love you Dad!!
Chuck Wilkinson does indeed transport "angels" to and from school, the parents and sisters and brothers of these kids are heros, the teachers and bus aides deserve accolades, Provo School District is a great school district and, yes, Chuck, my husband of 43 years has a magic heart.
I am so touched by this article, but I'm not surprised at all. Chucker the Trucker is my hero! We love you, Chuck!
