Buttars, I HOPE, takes this as a GREAT compliment! MSNBC is athe least reputable of ALL the news services. They gave Obama a large amount of free cheerleading leading up to his win. They are THE MOST FAR-LEFT of any news organization. I didn't see the report but I'm sure it had to do with Buttars wanting to call Christmas what it is, - CHRISTMAS! See, the far-left don't like that! It implies a belief system in something besides secularism, and that makes them nuts!

I thought Foxnews was a little tilted until I saw MSNBC!

By the way, I thought Olbermann lost his job, and they put him in sports or something???

Can't people see the light that this "war on Christmas" is some made-up war so that some people can choose to feel persecuted? There's nothing wrong with happy holidays- it INCLUDES Christmas, and every other holiday during the season. Why do people choose to think that is somehow a bad thing?

It was all over the news - but you don't watch the news, do you? (Otherwise, you'd know more about MSNBC directly, rather than taking hate-radio's POV for it.)

Keith made an excellent point: If the government passes a law recommending that merchants say only "Merry Christmas", then someone else can recommend that Jewish and Buddhist temples say only "Merry Christmas".

The greatest lesson all the stay-at-home people or talk-show crowd can get from this article is how they need to turn their tvs off! Don't support these freaks or their sponsors. No more Ellen, Oprah, the View, Olbermann, MSNBC, CNN, FoxNews, political parties (yes- both the big ones-- face it) or any other network or program that consistently marginalizes LDS beliefs or people. Don't give them the time or the money to continue oppressing you. Almost no media outlet is on your side-- I guarantee it.

If the people watching The View had any sense at all, all 3 of them would be offended at Joy Behar's comment, not to mention the laughs from the others. Unfortunately, on the day this program aired, 2 of them were at the hairdresser and the other was getting her nails done, so nobody saw it.

I use the term Merry Christmas, but I don't get offended by people who don't or won't use it. Your the type of person WHY stores use a generic greeting. Because if someone with your ahhh tempermental disposition disagrees with the term 'Merry Christmas' they will sue the stores. This in the end is a non issue sure to consume "Senator" Buttars and others of his ilk.

The Keith Olbermann bit is just funny, but the Joy Behar comment is downright offensive. But she isn't alone. A recent Law and Order episode made reference to Mormons' "magic underwear" and even showed a shirt intended to be a replica of it. There isn't much we can do to combat this perniciousness. Letter-writing campaigns probably won't do much. We can all stop watching the shows, stop buying the products advertised on the shows, and make our feelings known to the network. Hopefully, we represent enough of a market share to convince them to change things. Probably wishful thinking.

Olberman's spot has never been anything but an Op-Ed piece and ,to my knowledge, has never marketed itself as anything but. I hope people like you realize that people such as Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh are of the same ilk as Olberman; just a different side of the coin: None are newspeople. They are not unbiased reporters. They each hawk thier wares to a specific market and nothing is wrong with that until people make the mistake that they are unbiased.

This far leftist has no problem with anyone wishing me a "Merry Christmas" even if I don't celebrate it. Well wishes should be taken as meant by the giver. But when a government official tries to mandate things such as this even you should have a problem with it. What if the mandate were to require store personnel to wish you Happy Kwanzaa? Might you might take offense at that?

One thing to remember: This was a government session not a religious meeting at which Buttars was speaking. Laws or mandates cannot be made to enforce a religion, or religous activity upon people. If so, what's next: being forced to attend church?

I hope people don't rely on MSNBC for their opinion of politicians. To me that is like using The View for my source of news. MSNBC is so far left that their news becomes no longer reliable. When one focuses entirely on one side, they don't take time to look at both sides to find the truth. It is no longer journalism, but propaganda.

I generally consider Olbermann to be a bit of a loudmouth but he sure did put Buttars right where he belongs on this one.

It is beyond me how this babbling idiot continues to get elected. Has the collective intelligence of our voting community really started scraping the bottom of the barrel? I know we have people capable of providing much better representation.

Oh - and someone should inform Buttars that we are NOT a Christian nation (and by this I am not saying Christianity is bad). This was a nation founded on the principle of religious freedom not for practicing one specific overall religious ideology which is quite different. Even though many early citizens were Christians this does not a Christian country make.

And since when is it Anti-Christmas to say Happy Holidays? This phrase is generally meant to include the whole season from Thanksgiving to New Years and for some to include persons of all faiths in their merry wishes. Which, in actuality, is the more Christian thing to do.

People need to quit being so touchy and offended. I'm not Jewish but I don't get offended by Menorah displays or any other religious holiday greeting.

A few years ago religious people (I am one too) were making a craze of not commercializing Christmas. Now, a guy is making it a point of government to pass a suggestion that we DO commercialize Christmas? Are there no Jews in West Jordan? Is Butters representing them too?

And we are supposed to believe only Rush Limbaugh's show contains negativity or divisiveness? So what's with this "WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD" award he gives out daily??? Sounds like those whining about conservative talk radio's negativity don't have much room to complain when their shock-jerk does the same thing in his programs.

Buttars is not telling businesses what to say. I can't even be in the same room when either one of them is on the tube. My wife will leave the room if I even accidentally get Matthews on the screen while surfing the channels. I went to ABC.com. There, at the bottom of the page in tiny letters was "Contact ABC." That sent me to another page where I had the opportunity to express my opinion. Which I did. I told them how I feel about Joy Behar making fun of "Mormom underwear" in relation to talking about how to hide an illegal gun. I asked for (and will not ever get) a formal apology. Meantime, I am boycotting ABC.

At least it made me feel better.

You are correct: This is about freedom of speech. But if Buttars is simply trying to get retailers to allow the word "Christmas" able to be uttered by thier employees isn't this the government promoting one religion over another? Isn't that exactly what the government is supposed to NOT do? Why is Buttars singling out one religous epitaph? If this were really about Buttars' honest defense of freedom of speech and religion then he should have included the holiday greetings for all religions that have such during this time of year.
