Great Salt Lake Channel | 7:58 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Is there a water channel anywhere out of the Great Salt Lake that would handle a cruise ship? If so maybe "buddy" Arison could bring in a ship and let the big "important Booze" cruise on out of here. I'm sick of hearing about Booze and his important friends and ways. Goodbye.
Miles | 7:59 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
A bruised knee and he can't play? So much for all the talk about the Quad. It seems until ALL the pain is gone from the knee, Booz won't play. What a baby.

I wish I could ave this kind of time off when I get a hangnail, however most of the rest of us WORK for a living. Come on Carlos, show us you are not just Boozer the Looser.

Millsap | 8:35 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Who do we sign, Boozer of Millsap? There is no question that you sign Millsap, and let Boozer walk. Boozer has done a fine job for us. He has been a good scorer, a great rebounder, and an overall good guy. I will be sorry to see him leave.

However, Millsap gives you almost the same offensive and rebounding numbers and a better effort defensively, Millsap is younger and more durable, and is a great guy off the court. Finally, although Millsap is almost an identical player, his perception is not as high, and will cost less to resign than Boozer.

Nothing against Booze, but there is no contest.

SIGN MILLSAP;;;;;; OH, AND ALSO MEMO!

Boozer will be playing for the Heat next year against the Jazz though.
MPetrie | 10:09 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
While I want Boozer to recover, I wonder what happened to the days of Stockton and Malone where they would play through the pain. Stockton at one point would play a full game with a broken bone in his foot yet we have guy sitting out because of a jammed finger. I jam my fingers all the time at church ball and even dislocated my jaw once but kept on playing despite the pain. And I do that for free, for crying out loud.

But oh well...

If Boozer truly intended to stay a Jazzman, he would say, "I'm not leaving. I'm committed to this team and bringing a Championship to Utah."

The fact that he just won't talk about it is disturbing.

I guess the days of loyalty are gone and now it's about, "How much can you pay me?"
Forget Boozer | 10:09 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Forget about when Boozer is coming back, Millsap is holding his own. AK is the key. AK has been the player that really makes the difference when he is playing this season. The Jazz need AK back ASAP!

Get ready to hear this reoccurring theme over and over during this month. As bad as it pains me to see D-Will hobbling around on the court at least he man-ed up and took over the game down the wire.

Boozer isn't playing tonight | 10:36 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
because he doesn't want to show the Heat firshand how soft he is defensively. It might hurt the offer they give him. I really do like Boozer I just wish he could man up on some of this stuff. I'm guessing he can't go yet cuz it might hurt his stats which would hurt his "max money" opportunities
it has to be millsap | 10:45 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
The Jazz would sign boozer, but Money wise it does not make sense. Boozer is the better player, but the Jazz won't be able to pay him what another team will

D-will - 14.5 million (first year of contract)
AK - 16.5 million (second to last year of contract)
Memo - 9 million
Harpring and Korver - 11.5 million
CJ, Brewer, Fess, Koufos, 2 Backup Point guards - 13 million.

That puts the Jazz at 64 million, and the luxury cap threshold will be at 72 million. They have 8 million dollars,

Boozer will make 14 million next year, (look at what Brand, and Gilbert made this year)

Now the if Jazz eats Harpring's 6.5 million dollar expiring contract this off season, and keep Boozer next year, it will kill them in 2010, AK and Williams will make 3 million more a year, Memo needs to be resigned, and Brewer will make much more and the Jazz 2 first round draft picks, Even if you don't resign Korver, 2010 with boozer looks like this
AK - 17 - million
Williams - 16 million
Memo - 10 million
Boozer 15 million - 4 players - 58 million -doesn't work
it has to be millsap | 10:48 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
One more thought, If the Jazz gets rid of AK at the end of 2010, they could keep boozer.

Most NBA players in the league today are fine with collecting paychecks regardless of whether or not they actually earn them. It's just how the NBA is currently.
JCH | 11:38 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
It's impossible not to think of Stockton & Malone whenever this bum is out for 6, 7, 8 games with a ... strained quadriceps muscle? Is that a joke? Worthless.

Still waiting for him to fill his first lane on a fast break.
lar | 11:39 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
MPetre,,,
Did you actually use the word loyalty in a sentence with Carlos Boozer?!?! Um, remember how loyal he was to the Cavs?
Keep him. While Miami needs some offense to bang in the post (no disrespect to Haslem), I question the toughness of a four that can't play through a bruise. Karl must be ashamed.
Don't be an stupid people | 11:43 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Have any of you Boozer haters seen the replay of the injury? His knee went sideways maybe 5"!! By no means am I a Boozer fan but let's be honest; that was a very real knee injury. Don't let past media propaganda cloud what is clearly visible on tape.

That said, the Jazz do need to get the most out of Boozer whether that be on the floor or in a trade. Millsap has shown his abilities for 3 years now and that guy is going to make some team an incredibly valuable, durable asset; hopefully that will be the Jazz.

Fact: Some players just have the knack of avoiding serious injury (Millsap, Ron Boone when he played) and playing through pain while others tend toward the opposite of that (AK, Boozer). It's the same in all sports. Boozer is a great player when he is on the floor; that cannot be disputed. But if one guy can play in 20% more games while scoring and rebounding 10% less it's still a better trade-off.

News Flash! | 11:49 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Stockton and Malone don't work here any more....
I think | 12:16 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Boozer is impressive offensively, especially his ability to use both hands but he is soooooo poor defensively that the team can not afford 14-15 mil on a player with such a liability.

When Booz and Okur shoot inside they both fade to avoid contact--that is why Booz does not get to the line near the amount he should. Millsap has enough brains obviously to initiate contact and jump into a shot blocker to get his shot off even though he is undersized. Boozer gets blocked way to much because he fades to avoid contact.

Between Millies better defense and the double doubles he has posted in his starts this year, Boozer has to go. The offense is better when it is spread around anyways rather than through the same guy so much.

Koufus has shown he can provide some nice fill-in minutes. AK is on the road back also. AK is such a SUPERIOR passer to Booz. Booz is a blackhole on offense. Obviously AK is not as good inside as Booz but he has been fabulous at the FT line when he gets fouled.

All those TO's--we really missed AK's passing last night and we barely survived!!
BoOoO | 12:43 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
All of you people need to stop complaining about the players being "babies." Have anyone of you even had a serious injury? Obviously not. The "pain" isn't always the issue, especially with a knee injury(as I currently have one). Its just not possible to play at a high level. Yeah, you can play and hobble around(like I tried to do yesterday) but its better off for your team that you don't. I am not saying this to defend anyone(Boozer) as I'm sure there are some players that are milking it. But it's just ridiculous that some of you idiots are saying "Play through the PAAIN!!" Please go get a bad injury to your legs an try to play...
Boozer | 12:50 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
I would lay off of Boozer until you see who you can get to replace him.

Millsap is a fine back up. He is not a starter and especially not against the top teams. Koufos is 2 or 3 years away and plays center better than PF at the moment. Koufos may become a great player or only an average one.

AK is needed. I personally think he is a little over paid but who can blame him for taking the money. AK is not our best option at PF.

The Jazz need to step up this year and add a decent C/PF who can play well behind Boozer/Okur. That gives us the depth to play head to head with LA, Boston etc.

The Jazz can sort out the money in July. We do not know who is going to stay or a what salary. Win this year and then rebuild.

Keeping Boozer is a good option if we have the right back up to replace AK/Memo. Letting Boozer go is a good option is we have the right back up to replace Boozer or Okur.

Go get the right option now. It is good to have options.

I remember when it was Malone and Stockton...nobody badmouthed John but it was a regular Malone hate-fest every year until he got the team back to the playoffs. Now it is a Boozer hate-fest every year. Let me tell you people of Utah something...you are spoiled fans!...2 years out of 25 of sub par play from a team and you have nothing but negative remarks about the players, coaches, broadcasters, owner...I even hear the occasional complaint about the dancers! Here in the San Joaqin valley in California we have High School basketball...wanna trade? You need to start enjoying the great thing you have going and stop trying to tear it down...I lived there when there were no professional sports and I remember the excitement when we thought the Jazz might actually bring their ragtag bunch of misfits to town so we could have professional level basketball to enjoy. It was not happy in New Orleans the day they left and it took a long time to get it back. Ask someone from Seattle how it feels to lose the team. It could happen to anyone!
BooBirds | 1:17 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Every other team in the country knows Boozer can play offense but is weak on defense. What make you think they will give him a max contract if his defense is as bad as you claim it is?

Trading Boozer for a PF who scores 20 points, gets 10 bounds AND plays defense may be a nifty feat. Give me a list of names of people who have those stats. How many of them are willing to come to UT?

If Boozer is really as bad you claim UT may not have to pay him a lot more than they currently are paying for him?
BooBird2 | 1:28 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Last year only Howard,Jamison, Jefferson and Boozer had 20+ points and 10+ rebounds. So far this year only Howard, Bosh, Jefferson and Duncan have 20+ points and 10+ rebounds.

Is there any chance that UT could get any of the above in 2009, cheaper than Boozer? For that matter is there any chance UT could get any of the above?

Stop trying to get rid of Boozer unless you can come up with a viable replacement.
Why?? | 1:48 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Why do we get an update every game that Boozer won't be playing tonight? He announced yesterday during the game he will be out at least another week to 10 days.

They will probably announce it again on Friday like it is new news or something.
mitchell | 1:56 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Boozer's stats are a product of the Sloan-PG/PF system. That's also why Millsap, who is pretty good but not a superstar is jacking up superstar numbers as a starter. The system rewards the power forward with good stats. So it's hard to say how good Boozer would be (or his stats) on another team, in another system.
Andre Kirilenko is an example of a player that does the little things that make a difference and would be good anywhere. As a plus I still remember watching him spit out his broken tooth last year and keep on playing like nothing happened.
The reason | 2:07 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
..they will pay is because the offensive performance puts butts in the seats. The NBA is about nothing but money--like any other business.

Contracts are driven off of offensive performance--not defensive. Some team will pay too much for Boozer. Let there be no doubt he is impressive offenively. That said, there are plenty of owners out there who give guys bad contracts--the league is full of them.

Fortunately the Jazz have not had too many--they have had some for sure but not as much as some other teams. Anyone seen the Knicks roster lately? Living proof that plenty of players WILL get paid for doing absolutely nothing that helps a team win a championsip but they sure can get some stats.

I know it is a delicate balance but if you are in a bidding war on a free agent then chances are you will be overpaying. You best economical bets are of course drafting well and then resigning your quality players while they are restricted. Boozer will not be in either category. He will be gone. If they resign him we will know they are not serious about winning it all. He can't--he can't stop a garden slug.

Boy, do I miss the old, old days with Zelmo Beaty, Red Robbins and the old Utah Stars......
JImmy Z | 2:34 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
All i can say about Boozer is that he is a loozer,
keep Millsap and lets ship this guy while we can
still get something out of him. There is no way
he will playing for the Utah Jazz next year anyway,
and frankly I dont care if he does. He is pampered
million dollar panzy
Tell me one reason... | 2:49 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
why anyone believes Boozer will be able to do anything different than what he showed us last year in the playoffs against Odom, Gasol, and now additionaly Bynum?

Boozer is too short to be effective at his position when you get it down to the top 4-5 teams in the NBA. Sure he can play regular season but that will not get you a championship. Unless Boozer plans to grow a few inches, he was rendered as useless when it mattered most.

Bye bye Booz.
Some | 3:34 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
good points, but name me one player that UT could actually get who would be better than Boozer, every night over the course of 3 years.

Also please cite thier stats for the last year or so.

I hear that Odom of LA may want to move? What is his value?
Show | 3:50 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
me a player that UT can actually get to replace Boozer with who will do well against Odom, Bynum, Garnett etc.

I think many of the "I hate Boozer" posters are really LA or Denver fans.
STEVE-O | 4:29 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Why can't the Jazz make it with Milsap as a starting PF? Somebody tell me that. He has avergaed a double double in his starts this year. I would say he could average just as many points as Boozer with the same amount of shots. Milsap doesn't get the "star" treatment like Boozer and goes unnoticed most of the time. His defense is better and he NEVER sits out.
If Boozer didn't milk injuries in the past fans wouldn't give him a hard time with this injury. He has NO tollerance for pain at all. I have no doubt his knee hurts... but Deron's ankle hurts, Milsaps face hurts from the stitches and bloody lip he got in the same game, but he's out there the next game. Memo's back hurts, AK's finger hurts, Harpring's Body hurts. Everybody is hurting.... but Boozer is a little baby!
Zebb | 4:45 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Maybe Boozer will cut his own throat by wimping out and not playing. This gives the Jazz a chance to see what Milsap can do with extended minutes. Hopefully, the Jazz will let him walk next summer as well all know Boozer is sitting out to avoid further injury in this contract year.
RE: MPetrie | 5:00 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
I remember Stockton and Malone teams losing a lot games in playoffs and NOT winning a championship,

all because of those injuries.

Playing through pain proves nothing, and only hurts your team in the long run.

anyone with common sense can see that.

and anyyone who watched the jazz in '09s knows that is true,

and how painful it was to watch stockton and malone not be able to get the job done because they were hurt.
I agree with Jimmy Z. | 6:17 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Put Boozer on the Miami plane and send him home with the Heat. Trade or buy out his prima dona contract and pass the future savings onto Millsap and Memo. Boozer just wants to get paid. He does not care about Utah being a championship contender. He is not the same caliber player as a Karl Malone. He won't play defense and his ten foot jumper and one step finger roles are getting boring to watch. Millsap has shown that any average power forward can get big numbers with Jerry's system on offense. We need a forward that will share time with Millsap and play defense.
Lots of wisdom | 6:49 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
here on the board tonight. Boozer never impressed me who watches basketball for the fun of it. One does not need to be a die hard fan to realize Boozer is only very average on most nights. If it comes "easy" it seems to me he will buy into it. Otherwise, forget it if it means getting into someones way. He is soft. Buy him a one way ticket out of here. I am with the rest of you.
