Huh? | 8:36 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
No nomination for Austin Collie? The guy is leading the nation in receiving yards, not just the conference.
No Huh about it.... | 9:38 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
.....the Zoo had to pick one player to nominate, obviously they felt Hall was a better choice given his completion percentage to Ute players.

I'm Ute fan, but Collie is a no brainer for Offensive POY. Take him away and you take away BYU's whole offense. NOthing against Hall, Unga, and Pitta, but without Collie BYU is not the same team. He is the top receiver in the country, and probably the best kick returner too. Without the field position he gives the Cougs they would not be scoring the way they do. Collie is also the leader of the team. I don't really like him, but the kid is the best player in the conference. This is a no-brainer.

The Utes impress. I hope they sweep the awards, and they should, they are 12-0. That is incredible, and they are going to yet another BCS game, they are the only team in the MWC to go, and they are doing it twice.

I know that BYU thinks they are the backbone of the MWC, but times have changed, this is not the WAC, and the Utes continue to set the bar for the MWC, and the rest of the Non-BCS.

I think Collie is a very good player, but for BYU, the OLine is where is all begins and ends. When Hall gets pressured, they lose. When Hall has time, they win. An injury on the line would have hurt them more than an injury to Hall, Collie, Pitta, or Unga.

so let me get this straight, you are saying that Rey fienga or travis bright would be more sorely missed than if Max hall was out?? ha ha that is an irresponsible comment. i'm a ute fan and find it funny how it took two messages until we started talking BYU and the tool claims to be a ute. but he writes Collie is the best receiver in the country ha ha.. That is a classic cougar comment, I swear 2 years ago i was at a BYU game and heard 4 male college students, saying FUI Vakapuna was the best RB in the country NO JOKE....... Collie is good but would he compare to a macklin, or dez bryant, or Crabtree i think NOOOOOT. Not a BYU hater but COME ON

Collie deserves Offensive POY consideration having eclipsed all other BYU receivers as a junior. BYUs Hall had NFL like numbers up until 22 December. A Wyomings D. Moore had a great year rushing for the Cowboys.

I'd like to support B. Johnson, but I'm not sure if he is even Utah Offensive POY when compared to King Louie's kicking. The debate is whether Johnson statistics were held back by Ludwigs offensive scheme and play calling or Johnsons own talent, QB sense and confidence.

I side with Johnson, and believe his numbers were negatively affected by Ludwigs timid offensive scheme, that up until BYU seem to rely too much on Sakodas kicking and Utahs defense for field position and momentum.

I know their are those who believe Ludwig like the other Ute coaches should receive their props for Utahs 12-0 regular season. But I contend Utahs 12-0 record was in spite of Ludwigs offensive schemes not because of it. Coach Andersons defense coaching won most of the games for Utah this year. Too bad for Johnson though, he will not be highly regarded by the NFL either, thanks to Ludwig.

I'm a cougar, so I hate Utah, and usually make posts falsely claiming that I'm a Utah fan, then follow that up by showing greater admiration of Utah's rival. That said, I have to admit that Utah really IS the premier team in our conference, and that we've always been the conference pretender. It's true, we're the ugly little sisters to the REAL UNIVERSITY in Utah...THE University of Utah. I wish we were as awesome as they, but I have pretty much resigned ourselves to being unworthy to even carry their water. I hate my life because I went to BYU.

Some may accuse me of being a Ute troll, but I'm really just trying to be honest with my fellow man.

Whether a BYU fan or Utah Troll our comments were disingenuous, idiotic and of no interest or benefit. Not a great combination to any discussion.

k im a huge ute fan and ive had season tickets to football and basketball, yes i still go to basketball i know. but i have to give byu alot of credit they had a great season, hall is a great QB, they have a great wide reciever in collie, even tho i hate the guy he's still an all american, but i have to give utah even more credit for staying unbeaten and showing up when they needed to, like i always say, good teams find ways to win. i was very impressed with johnson this year he did awesome, and that all came with the o-line and recievers. so basically id rather have johnson over hall and freddy brown and david reed over collie any day. so i give them the Players of the year award, go cougs i hope you kick some butt in either vegas or san diego, and GO UTES! if your in arizona ill be there with ya
