This article is frustrating and comes off completely one sided. I think that the author has not done a complete job of researching both sides of the story. Maddening.

One-sided? Regardless to what the other side of the story is, stabbing someone in the neck with a kitchen knife multiple times is not justifiable behavior in any situation, unless the victim pulled the knife and took a couple swings at his roommate first.

Why do they think the stabbing was about money? Are there no witnesses or information from the victim or the family? How old were these people? I live in highland need more info. Lorna

The victim happens to be one of my good friends. I visited him in the hospital and he said the attack was unprovoked. Apparently the attacker had lots of issues going on outside of the situation and just snapped.

Tis the season

the way the economic picture is at present , events like this will just escalate..then idiotology steps in also!

Cedar Hills

I don't know about those Cedar Hills people.

I used to give Karl rides to and from work.He was a polite individual as anyone could imagine.I have no idea what would have made him snap but I do know that he did not get along well with his roommates. This incident is not one sided.I would like to hear his side of the story but regardless of what happened it would not justify attempting to kill another person.I certainly hope that both individuals are ok.

It's too bad that the kid that did this feels that he needs to lie to the police about the fact that nothing provoked this situation at all. It was a brutal attack for no reason at all. Regardless he will pay for the things that he has done and for the hurt he has caused the victim and his family. My prayers are with you!!!

A close friend

What a sad situation. I love all you boys! I am sure Karl feels horrible. Sometimes Our emotions get the best of us and we react in a way most unlike ourselves.
I feel sad for Karl. I feel sad for our friend in the hospital as well. I also feel immense gratitude that our friend is still living after such a life threatening experience. I am so happy he will live to tell a life changing story.. How great it'll feel to both boys and What an impact it will be in many lives for them to forgive each other someday.

$100 says Karl was taking anti-depressants.

childhood friend

I knew KC, grew up with him, and this is very disturbing. When I last talked to Karl he was pretty unstable, but that was over a year ago, anyways I hope he is okay, and I am glad to hear his roommate will live. I

emotions get the best of us and we do stuff most unlike ourselves? Yes, I frequently get angry and go around slicing people's carotid arteries open. I'm sorry but no matter the situation there is NO excuse for that. And two sides? Yes, they were probably in a fight but that justifies attempted murder? A butter knife in the arm is aggravated assault. If he was just angry he would have probably just slashed his arm, but going for the neck, slicing AND stabbing, anyone with half a brain knows that is how you KILL someone with a knife. This is outrageous.

childhood friend

I have known K.C. since childhood as well. While i am surprised at what has happened, i cant say that i did not think he was capable of harming others. The sad thing is that he is a very bright and nice person that has taken a turn for the worst. I am very concerned for him and thankful that his roommate is going to make it. This may give K.C. a chance to get his life back on track. I hope and pray that all hope is not lost yet.
