No BJ: Louks or Manis look like solid replacements.
No Casteel: Elijah Wesson, Aiona Key, David Reed - take your pick
No Freddie: see No Casteel
No Mack: Asiata's probably a bit better than Mack anyway
No McCain: but we return 3 other DB starters - plus, it was Smith that shut down Collie
No King Louie - Vroman is solid
You didn't mention the O-line, but i'll remind you that we return 4 of the 5 starters.
No Coaches! - huh? who are we losing?
No Chance? Don't you know that hallucinogens like whatever it is you are using are against the Honor Code? I LOVE our chances next year. GO UTES!!
2-0
max hall just threw another interception
and if you guys want to talk about the officials handing the utes a game... dont forget week 1 when you should have lost to Washington but got that awesome celbration call against you...
Karma is a bitch aint it
MWC Championships
1999 BYU, Utah, and Colorado State (5-2)
2000 Colorado St (6-1)
2001 BYU (7-0)
2002 Colorado St (6-1)
2003 Utah (6-1)
2004 Utah (7-0)
2005 TCU (8-0)
2006 BYU (8-0)
2007 BYU (8-0)
2008 Utah (8-0)
BYU has lost 2 MWC games; has won 2 outright MWC championships; and has finished the regular season ranked in the Top 25 3 times in the last 3 years.
Utah has lost 6 MWC games; has won 1 outright MWC championship; and has finished the regular season ranked in the Top 25 1 time in the last 3 years.
>>>...said the tdS fan who was first to comment on a Ute article. You're here since nationally, one of our programs is RECOGNIZED and HEADING TO PHOENIX or NEW ORLEANS, while the OTHER program is irrelevant and nobody really cares where they're going.<<<
I'm sorry who's an elephant? Truthfully, I could care less where tds goes but have a suggestion.
>>Seriously, just enjoy tripping into the BCS,<<
If any team got lucky regarding the BCS its Ohio State last yr. Losing to Illinois in Nov and still making it into the title game.
FWIW; closest thing to easy money - playing OU in the Fiesta or Buckeyes in the title game.
yeah, in the last 3 years you have finished in the top 25 come years end...
and you have what to show from it?
NOTHING (unless you want to call the Vegas bowl something)
Hey, jealousy is a sin, but a really good one to have right
We didnt trip into the BCS... unless you call your own school a little rock in the way...
I suggest all BYU/UTAH/BSU fans who want fairness for the mid-major programs take a deep breath and learn a little something from the 1967, 1968 and 1969 Super Bowl games.
Remember the upstart AFL, the then mid-major of professional football? In 1967 the Packers beat the Chiefs in SBI.
Lombardi stated after SBI that NOT ONE of the AFL teams could EVER compete with any of the then BCS, oops, the NFL teams.
He proved it again in 1968 in SBII when the Packers beat Oakland. But, and there will always be a "but" in sports, the next year in SBIII Joe Namath and the Jets beat the Colts. The leagues merged.
To gain respect the mid-majors will have to beat the Oklahomas of the world. That's what it is going to take.
Thanks Utah and Boise State.
While Utah has won 3 or even 4 (depending on how you look at the Michigan) games that were "big"...
BYU has finished in the top 25 in the last 3 years... and has the LV bowl to show it
Utah has finished in the top 25 once in the last 3 years... BUT HAS THE FIESTA BOWL and another BCS bowl coming...
But those arent stats we should look at right
BYU has 3 double-digit win seasons, 2 undefeated conference championships, and 3 Top 25 finishes in the last three seasons.
That's what BYU has to show for it!
Utah has only had 4 double-digit win seasons in their entire history.
BYU has had 14 double-digit win seasons, including 3 in the last three years.
Consistency and high expectations are what BYU has to show for three very good seasons.
BYU didn't quite reach it's goal of going undefeated and playing in a BCS bowl this year, but going 10-2, with it's only two losses to Top 25 teams on the road is still very good.
Utah deserves credit for beating 3 Top 25 teams, but all three games were at home, and all three involved a little bit of luck. Say what you will, but it was just as much Oregon State's, TCU's, and BYU's mistakes, as Utah's execution, that paved the way for Utah's wins.
For example, the three big wins the Ute fans are bragging about -- Oregon State, TCU, BYU -- share these similarities:
1. All three games were at RES;
2. In all three games, the Utes were outgained in total offense -- by significant margins in two of them;
3. In all three games, the Utes relied on key fourth-quarter mistakes or turnovers by their opponents to win.
Now, that doesn't automatically mean the Utes didn't deserve to win those games. But it does show the Utes haven't been as dominant as their deluded fans think they are.
If I were a Ute fan or player or coach I would be very nervous about leaving the friendly confines of RES to play a top-ranked SEC or Big 12 team. The more I look at the details of the Ute's season the more I believe there is an upleasant smackdown awaiting them in Tempe or New Orleans.
Yes that same 1995 BYU Cougar is what brought about the current entry rules for all conferences to have a chance to play in the big BCS bowl games.
So mr. shameful, where is your thanks and gratitude for even having the chance to get those big buck$ in the first place. it was not your team that paved the way and made it possible. I gladly accept your apology!!!
2. Clearly YOU didn't read the first post

Oh, and grow up.
Look guys, you take what the system gives you. Was BYU the best team in the country in 1984? Heck no. But they were undefeated and accordingly rewarded with the national championship.
To hahaha 5:54 pm, The Utes will never be national champions under the current system and neither will BYU. The point is, Utah has had two undefeated seasons and has achieved everything the current system will allow it to have.
So, back to my question...was BYU undefeated in 1995? If not, I don't think you should be bragging about it and no, the Utes do not have a debt of gratitude to BYU for anything. But the Utes will give your greedy outstretched hand the $1.4 Million anyway and not expect a polite "Thank You, big brother" in return.
Here's a question for BYU fans...when is BYU going to do SOMETHING / ANYTHING for someone else?
"1995 Cougar team ranked 5th in the nation, the one that played Kansas State in the Cotton Bowl"
The team was actually 1996 14-1.
That BYU team did get jobbed, but the evolution of the inclusion of a non BCS team had as much if not more to do with the undefeated Marshall and undefeated Tulane teams of the late 1990's and the snubbing of BYU in 2001. The lawsuit threats and congressional push started during that span about 1999-2001 as I recall(no time to research for sure).
The beginnings of the Bowl alliance can be ultimately traced to the year that Colorado and Georgia Tech split the title in 1989. They started it to try to get AP #1 and #2 to play against each other on a more consistent basis(as much to keep the top teams from dodging each other at bowl time as anything) This started when Miami#1, kept trying to dodge Penn State #2(Penn State beat them in the Fiesta Bowl). That monster was undone when Penn State was undefeated and #2(stuck in Rose Bowl) and Nebraska won the BCS in 1994. After that the Rose bowl was included.
Go Utes.

Forgot about Notre Dame in 2005, feel free to check over the list but I think it is correct. I will be waiting for my $millions. Record is 1-21 vs top 25 teams in the last 10 years for the Y. Sources ESPN, byucougersdotcom and webdotksldotcom.
Rosenvall was a decent runner at a high school level, but never really had an arm. The U could find a better QB, even among in-state recruits. Loved Rosenvall, he just couldn't throw at a high enough level.
I respectfully have to disagree with you there. He was a decent runner but he never had to run much. The animal Shak did all the running (and ran over everyone). He did have a good arm but didn't use it much. When he did though, he did it good. Parker Walbeck can tell you all about it. I hope the U takes him. On another note is there any chance of Shak getting to play next season?
