1A/5A connection | 8:12 a.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Bear Lake Realty says congratulations to Allie Eastman from Rich And Heather Hannemann from Lone Peak. Heather is Stephanie Floyds (Rich High) first Cousin. Stephanie was MVP 1A a few years ago. Allie has Stephanies personna. Quiet until the game starts and then watch out! It is always nice to see a setter who creates the game get acknowledged. Way to go Heather!

not anything bad about any of these ladies ...good job.. but how does Piute have 2 firt teamer and a 2nd teamer but couldnt beat Monticello who had only one 2nd teamer....3rd at state and only one...it would seem they were better than Piute that ussually means better players.

Way to represent, Ms. Clyde. now lets play some b-ball
unbelievable reply | 9:21 a.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Look at the stats , and quit complaining! This blog should be for building people up. There are many girls that work hard, and deserve congratulations, not "unbelievable" comments. She did deserve it!! Breathe!!
4A got it right | 9:36 a.m. Dec. 2, 2008
couldn't believe the SL tribs 4A MVP, anyone that followed SC volleyball saw what the Des News saw, right call on that one...
Lauster | 10:06 a.m. Dec. 2, 2008
The best 2A volleyball player, in my opinion, is Grand's Shelby Dalton. Just a sophomore. Probably not a secret to local colleges, though.
Anonymous | 10:14 a.m. Dec. 2, 2008
the best 2A volleyball player was hurt and watching from the bench all year, except for a couple plays at state....good thing for the rest of us too or San Juan would have won it agian.
unbelievably reply "reply" | 10:52 a.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Amen to stats - Wins and Losses are the stats that count. Richfield had the best athletes and oh by the way beat S.Sevier 80% of the time in 2008......

And no one in S.Sevier deserved it...
MVP | 11:20 a.m. Dec. 2, 2008
You cry babies out there need to revisit what MVP stands for. Its not about how may games you have won, or who took state. Its the MVP. Karl Malone got twice without a ring. What a bunch of whiners or wildcats.
MVP right on | 11:39 a.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Ditto to MVP... 2A Wildcat Whiners should look at the individual stats! if they dare! And yes, Heather Meyer perhaps would have received it IF she HAD been playing this season, AND had gotten her team to the championship game, but she wasn't playing. I still feel badly for her and her team. I hate to see any athlete hurt. But, it's hard to give an MVP to someone who didn't play this season don't ya think? South Sevier didn't cry when a Richfield girl got the MVP in the Trib, oh but I've heard there was some whining going on about "who" from Richfield should have gotten it. I guess they just like to whine?
Cassy Moon--RE San Juan Fan | 12:44 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
If you truly are from San Juan, add your name. Then I will know who I should embarrassed by.

Aubrey, Congratulations! The aforementioned comment is totally ludicrous.

I saw the injury happen. Nothing fake there. Besides, why would Aubrey fake an injury when her team was ahead? Faking is usually used to save face in a loss.

I think we should all just be thankful that our 2A girls get any recognition from any of the papers. Our small towns are not their main income base. They really could just ignore us. Congratulations to all of the girls listed in the articles.
Wendy Bliss | 12:47 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Congrats Brooke and Lindsay and the rest of the wildcats for being on the state championship team!!!!! The fact we don't have an "all-star" is what makes us so good. Our teamwork will get us the championship in basketball too. Good job Aubrey on MVP you really are an amazing athlete with a lot of heart.
AGGIE | 12:47 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Congrats to Joselyn and Sami! I'm excited to play with you both at Utah State next year!
"Wildcat Whiners" ????? | 12:58 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Go read the comment board after the Wildcats won the state championship.

I think MUCH of Sevier County is whiners, excuse makers, and WAY TOO INTO sports.

Wake up people, once these girls graduate, I hope you have spent as much time teaching them how to read and write and make it in life. The coping skills of the adult "parents" on these boards scare me to think how their kids will react when THEIR daughter doesn't win a State Champinship, the MVP, or even make it as All-State!

Wow | 1:29 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
How does Region III MVP drop all the way down to Honorable Mention? No discredit to any of the other girls but I'm really not sure how you go about picking these awards.
PG Fan | 1:58 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Congrats Brooke on MS. Volleyball. The best volleyball player in Utah High School this year and good luck at the U of U next year. You will do great at the next level and I can't wait to watch!!
re: PG Fan | 2:07 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Thanks mom & dad!

AUbrey!! Congratulations babe! You are amazing! Ignore all the rude comments, it's just jealousy! Take them in stride and let it all roll off your back. It's ridiculous that people can be so rude. I, and all your teammates, family and friends are so happy for you! YOU deserved it! Nice stats by the way :) I LOVE YOU! Basketball time!!
#12 | 2:29 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Allie!! Congratulations! You played so well, it's so fun watching you. You and Aubrey had the exact same number of kills! weird! haha.. That's so ironic. But anyways. Congratulations on the award and on the state title! LOVE, your metro teammate :)
#12 | 2:32 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Congratulations Kayla!! 97% serving is unbelievable! Way to go girl! You got two more years, I can't wait to watch ya! I love ya cuz!!
Brookes Mom and Dad | 2:41 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Actually, this is Brooke's Mom and Dad, and we are very proud of her both on and off the court. If we have something to say, we will say it, so "re: PG Fan" please don't try to downplay nice comments from friends and family. These awards are about recognizing all the girls for their hard work and accomplishments.

We love you Brooke!
St. George | 3:03 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Congratulations to all the girl's honored here, but I am puzzled by the 4A All-State team. How does the state champion and runner up only have one girl honored on each of the three teams?
PG Blue | 3:04 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Congratulations Brooke!
Freedom of Speech | 3:11 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Without responsibility is

DANGEROUS.
re: lauster | 3:59 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
im with ya there! shelby dalton is probably the best in 2A and maybe the state!
D-News Wrong | 4:08 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
D-news missed a few correct choices. You focused on 1 team and 1 girl and that does not give all qualified athletes a fair chance. Congratulations to the girls that were recognized, condulences to the girls who deserved but did not get recognized because the D-News does not go south of Orem, and makes all there judgements from the state tournament.
Kim Parsons | 4:31 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Congratulations to all of you hardworking young ladies on the All State Teams, and of course the MVPS. You are amazing athletes! A special congrats to Aubrey and my niece Kayla! We are so proud of you and happy for you both! We love you! Aubrey, I can't wait to watch you and Heather play together at Snow! Good things ahead for both of you! and Kayla, we still get 2 more years to watch you at South Sevier! Fun fun fun! I am sad to see this group of talented Senior girls from BOTH South Sevier AND Richfield graduate as it has been so much fun watching you compete and cheering you on. However, there are some great young players that will keep the fun going. :-) I would also like to especially congratulate Allie from Rich, Jaquel from Richfield, and Nicole from Park City on your achievements! We know you from basketball, but you are also awesome volleyball players! We will be watching for you and cheering for you in basketball too!
To St. George | 5:39 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
I agree completely, how the top two teams in 4A only have one girl on the all-state team is beyond me... Bet they think those of us in St. George don't buy papers.
re: St. George | 7:07 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
5A state champ Lone Peak has the MVP and 3 girls on the first team, shouldn't the champ of 4A (who won the title game in 3 sets for a 3-peat) have just as many of their players on the top list?
Re: To St. George from Rich Coun | 7:13 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Ya, they pick All State from newspaper subscriptions. Some of you people really should listen to yourselves. By the way, I do not think they make money from your subscriptions, they make money from their advertisers. Deseret News does an awesome job of covering high school sports. I do not always agree with them also but they certainly make a huge attempt to cover and recognize all the hard work.

Congratulations Katie Weichmann of St. Joseph!!!
All-State first team! You go girl!!! :)
southern utah folks | 9:07 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
lets get real. all state is about the best players selected by the coaches, 4A has 3 people on it, 2 from SCHS and 1 from Dixie, whats the problem? I see other southern utah schools that also walked over competition at state with only 2 from their team, why aren't they complaining? Face it, outside the two from SCHS and 1 from Dixie, the rest weren't 1st team material. That doesn't mean they were bad, it just means they weren't as good individually as others. I watched everyone of the 4A first teamers play, I would have agreed, although perhaps Orem's big OH could be argued for. Nobody else from SCHS or Dixie were as good, thats it. The kids that made it from SCHS and Dixie were their teams this year, the others were solid role players.
If you understood | 10:05 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
All state is selected by the coaches not the paper it self. Blame them for picking the best players not the paper, and it is very disrespectful to say someone doesn't deserve it. Grow up.
JWHITE FAN | 12:05 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
YEAH JOSS!!!!!!!!!!!haha I freaking love you girl! Way to do work.
#11 | 8:21 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008

You had an awesome year and basketball is started and going great for us lets keep working hard and have some fun!!! ;) love ya!
Kensi | 9:56 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Congratulations Aubs!! You deserved it babe. And congrats to Kaili for 1st team in trib and Jadie and Kayla for Des News! You girls are awesome! I think our team had a lot of talent all the way throughout...also i want to congratulate all the girls who made 1st and 2nd team no matter where they're from. it takes a lot of work to make it there and they wouldn't be there if they didn't deserve it. It is a huge compliment to them and i just wanted to say congrats to everyone!! :)
re: kensi | 11:58 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008

Comgratulations to Shelby Dalton, a Sophmore at Grand Co High School. She is an awesome all around player! Way to go!
Anonymous | 1:54 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Congrats to Deysha Twitchell and SHyenne Cornforth. They made honorable mention and didnt even make it to state. I am sure they would have made the first team at state.
Grand Player | 2:10 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Congrats to Shelby! She is a way amazing athlete, she has excel in all three sports she plays (volleybally, basketball and softball) I have watched her play and she is a heck of an athlete. Can wait to watch her dominate in both basketball and softball!! Good Luck Shelby! Your a BEAST :-)
True Fan | 2:54 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Congratulations to all the girls who made All-State and especially to the MVP's. Way to go Ciarra Parker, just a freshman, WOW! Keep it up and lets see how good you can be.
Coach-All state selections | 3:46 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
All coaches need to turn in ballots. Amy-DNEWS do a great job filtering through it all. There are many possibilities and we might not always see eye-to-eye, but that doesn't mean the girl who got the nod isn't deserving of some respect and credit. To discredit the girl is shameful.

There are several players worthy of Miss Volleyball as well as any MVP in any of the classifications. For people to go on and say that the person that got it is the best is ludicrous when other players are deserving.

We pay to much attention to recognition and not enough into why we do this. You can't take it with you, but what you can take our the friendships you forged, the memories you create, and the lessons learned. It's what you do with what you have in the time given that counts.

Take it from someone who has coached a few good players and won a few games. Celebrate the moments and stop worryiing about who is better than who. That is why we play the game-Being a State Champion is the highest honor I would wager anyone who made/didn't make all-state would trade it for a championship
From SCHS | 12:05 a.m. Dec. 4, 2008
I see your point St. George, but our girls have rings, who cares?
To Unbelievable | 7:37 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Or you need to wake up. If Richfield has class then why are you whining that #11 Aubrey Lindgren got it?
