Question: Why is it that the Republicans are prone to invade the minds of others and then make the most profound announcements without the slightest chance that their predictions will be true?

Answer: Because the Republicans do not have any real issues with which to attack the Democrats they must make up their own scenario and attack that.

There. I just emulated a Republican strategy.

Nearly a decade ago, Bill Clinton made his wife a promise. He told her that she had supported him for 25 years and it was his turn to support her- the next 25 years were hers and he would support her in whatever she wanted to do. Despite the media's exaggerations about him, the truth is that he has made good on that promise during the last 8 years, including during her campaign, and he deserves credit for that.
It is human to make mistakes and human to want to fix them. He wants to make it up to her. Let him and leave him alone.
Quite a few men in this world have been supported by their wives, only to leave them for younger wives and then bicker about child support and alimony on the way out the door. If we were looking for the worst husband in the world, Bill Clinton wouldn't quality.

Question: Can the media set aside their obsession with the Clintons?

Don't you have anything else to write about? You have a spanking new president with an exciting wife and children and yet it is the media who consistently run back to covering the Clintons. Worse still the media have a weird psychology, a Munchausen syndrome, where they manufacture fake crises/scandals about the Clintons so that they can then write about them, usually in judgmental tones. Is there no other news is America? Are the media so desperate? As far as I know Bill Clinton, up to months ago was carrying out the business of his foundation, bringing relief to thousands around the world. I imagine he will continue to do this. I understand it is easier and safer to continue to abuse and use the Clintons as news fodder, but it comes at a price of trivializing journalism. This relentless and almost sadistic focus on the Clintons says more about the sorry state of American journalism than anything else. The media needs a 12-step Clinton recovery program, you're not really serving the American public in this time of economic calamity with this obsessive and compulsive need for the Clintons.

I wholeheartedly agree with the comments of exocet. The constant Clinton trashing is as abhorrent as it is unjust. What would the media do without Clinton to project their fantasies upon, one wonders! Is Marjorie Cortez serious when she suggests that playing a back seat role represents Bill Clinton's biggest challenge. How ridiculous! A bigger challenge than balancing the budget? A bigger challenge than the middle east? A bigger challenge than surviving the vicious and never ending attacks from the right wing? Get real and focus on the important issues facing America and the world. Finally, it is ironic, is it not, that Cortez gives Clinton the very thing she is complaining about, attention! Bill Clinton does not need to seek attention, it comes to him!
