It doesn't require great intelligence or strength of spirit to criticise, find fault and ridicule the sacred beliefs of others. All it takes is a degree of knowledge (usually very small) and a heart tuned to rationalising justification.

BUT - it does require intelligence and strength of spirit to find that sweet link with diety that touches hearts and confirms truth.

God allows us to follow the course we choose.

To The Seeker,

It doesn't require ANY intelligence to make absurd statements and issue moronic platitudes.

It doesn't take intelligence to criticize?

Tell that to Plato, Aristotle, and the rest of the great minds upon which our Western tradition is built!

It takes intelligence and strength of spirit to be all mushy and irrational about god and religion? Tell that to the victims of 9-11 who died because some fanatic religious whacko agreed with you and thought the sweetest link with deity that touched their heart impelled them to hijack an airliner and smash it into the Towers!

You could use more critical thinking skills and less sunday sermons.

To Gordon,

I am game! What exactly is your challenge? I have read the book. What are you proposing so that the direction of my life is changed????

John Adams was also poorly educated and was additionally orphaned. Why is J.Smith's limited education in the classroom supposedly so impressive when that was the norm?

"Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah
Jesus annointed that prophet and seer
Blessed to open the last dispensation
Kings shall extoll him and nations revere
Hail to the prophet, ascended to Heaven
Traitors and tyrants, now FIGHT HIM IN VAIN
Mingling with gods he can plan for his brethren Death cannot conquer the hero again!"

The content of the book is weak and kept out everything controversial. I am afraid a wagon wheel on the caravan has fallen off. The caraven is stalled my friends.
People are slowly facing | 9:41 p.m. Dec. 6, 2008
that there is not "one truth". They are also facing that although some people can be more spiritual than others that none have the "corner" on "God". The people that really feel that J.S. did the things he did are probably never going to feel any different. This is because so many of them have built so much of their lives on this assumption. Especially people that have gone on missions and done numerous "callings" in the church. If it makes their lives better then they are not going to change. But there are getting to more and more of us in the world that do not acknowledge this type of religion. I believe that within about ten years we will see that secular thinking will be more the norm.

This is more of a question than a comment. If Joseph Smith is who he says he is, then why is it now told that the plates that He transcribed were found in New York and studied by historians of the Smithsonian. Their findings were that the picture in the Book of Abraham was not a complete picture and that Joseph Smith filled in the rest with him holding the knife. He read the symbols wrong and it actually talks about mummication. What are your views on that?
