Cost of the buses should be offset by the users to insure a better cost estimate for the operating costs of the system. It should fund itself as part of the tourist dollars for which it is used, not through taxes.

No need

With a downturn in the economy, less vistors will be traveling to the park. We can just shelve the shuttle program until the need returns-kind of like the Great Salt Lake pumps....

Personaly I feel Congress should shut down Zion National Park, and The State of Utah also shut down these 16 propane-powered shuttle buses, these are nothing more than "pork project's" anyway, and with the economy the way it is, and about to go into a depression soon enough, it's not a bad idea. The tourist dollars made off of this won't be there, when people and Families stop spending on more equity toys, and garbage like this, that really takes monies away from The Family. They need to keep their money, and spend it on themself. Take up a new hobbie. This one just got old. That's my view. What's yours?.

Shuttle Convert

I have used the shuttle many times since it began running thorugh Zion. I was skeptical at first but I really think it's the best thing for this park. People have forgotten how crowded with cars Zion NP used to be, how hard it was to find a place to park, how much exhaust was in the air from people waiting for a place to park. I am no tree-hugging environmentalist but I say KEEP THE SHUTTLE even if users have to pay a quarter or so it's well worth it for the visitor and the park itself!
