Best Chance

Utah's best chance continuing their bowl winning streak would be playing Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.

The Utes would have a very tough time hanging with Texas in the Fiesta Bowl, and have almost no chance of beating an angry Florida team in the Sugar Bowl. A matchup with Florida has blowout written all over it.

Utah would do well against Va Tech, Boston College or Cincinnati in the Orange Bowl, but the Sugar Bowl won't pass up Utah for one of those teams.

Utah's best chance to win would be playin Cinnci or a ACC team. Bama, Florida, Texas, OU, TT, USC would all smoke Utah. Utah doesnt have to offense to put up major points to keep up with any of those teams. USC is likely headed to play against PSU in the Rose but SC would dismantle any offense that Utah has. I hope Utah playes Boston College, that would be the best matchup for them. Good luck!

Utaaaaaaaah

Even being ranked 6th and un-beaten, no one cares about them....as shown by the whole 2 posts they received.

bring it!

To: best chance

You're lame buddy. Good thing my utes aren't scared or gutless like you! We are UTAH...that's the problem with you people, U start believeing the hype...the sec and the big 12 teams are good, but they're not great! They better bring their "A" game against the Utes or they will get smacked in the mouth!..so with that being said,"grow a pair" best chance!

Prayin we get an sec or big 12 team!

Utes 2-0 in bcs bowl games!!!!

Bowl Streaks

I for one would love to see Boston College and Utah as they both have 8/7 bowl wins respectively. BC is a better team than their ranking indicates, Utah's ranking is better than they deserve. (I hate to say) Utah would likely cover the spread if they play anybody ahead of them as Whit/Anderson always prepares their team for bowls.

GO UTES!

Sorry Utah if you don't play in the Orange Bowl,You will get dismantled in any other bowl, BC will over take u for longest bowl streak

Ute Fan

Yes, you are right. We should be thrilled with an article telling us the team resumes practice today. If we really support our team, we will write effusive posts about this practice schedule. We've run over the bowl scenarios 100 times already. Not all of us have pathetic enough lives (besides me, obviously) to post on insignificant material.

utah_man18

Let's rewind to the first of the season when Fresno and byu were the obvious BCS busters; now jump to Utah down eight against Oregon State and fans booing Brian Johnson; oh, and don't forget the predictions that TCU would destroy the Utes or that byu would win in a shootout. The fact is, this Utah team has heart and it has embarrassed doubters all year. The only team I don't want a piece of is Florida, but that shouldn't matter because they're the best team in the nation. Go ahead and doubt us; call our offense weak; say our defense is overrated. Just promise me you'll post on the story covering the Utes' 13-0 season and tell me how your humble pie is tasting.

Go UTES!!!

re: bring it!

Utah already has the BCS game locked up. We have nothing left to prove. All those naysayers who believe our only chance comes against the softest BCS teams are tdS fans anyway. They're still sour that we've earned our 2nd BCS bowl before they've even sniffed their 1st; and during THEIR "Quest for Perfection" no less. The tdS is well aware of all the sports analysts naming their hated nemesis the premier non-BCS team in the country. Some have even realized they're not even the 2nd or 3rd best non-BCS team, and it's KILLING them. All their arrogance is coming back to bite them, and their only defense is denial.

It's great to be Ute!

UteNation

It just feels great knowing that our team will be playing in a BCS bowl game; I agree that it will be a challenge, whoever we face, but I believe that Coach Whittingham and his staff will have the team well prepared and I expect them to play well and even win.

GO UTES!!!!!

The reward of beating a top notch team - whether that chance is slim or not - heavily outweighs the risk. That 2004 team was downright great, but its accomplishment was diminished by being stuck with the Big Least champ. On the other hand, look at what the win over Oklahoma has done for Boise State in the national eyes. I'd rather have our Utes lose in a tough, competitive game against a Big 12 or SEC, than beat up on an outmatched Big Least or ACC champ.

Better not be Florida

Don't count on Urban to call off the dogs if the Gators play the Utes in the Sugar Bowl. Utah fans are delusional if they think they could hang with any of the BCS teams ranked ahead of them.

Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, USC and Alabama would all crush Utah.

The Utes might have a chance against Ohio State, Penn State, and Texas Tech.

Boise State would be no problem. TCU will handle the Broncos in the Poinsettia Bowl if the WAC doesn't force BSU to stay at home on the smurf turf.

Utah handle Boise State? Wow.. I remember the last time Boise played the Utes. 36-3 in Rice Eccles! Boise...State...Boise.. State! BSU beat a good Oregon team in their home stadium. Utah has not played great away from home against teams with a winning record. You cant tell me they would clean up Boise St.

Big 12 or SEC

I have to laugh that the team who beat New Mexico by 3 points and Michigan by two points is calling out the Big 12 and SEC. Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, or Alabama would blow out the Utes. Better hope for Cincinnati.

Does anyone realize that the Utes could have been playing for the National Championship if it were not fore a bone-headed move by the athletic department?

Yes, the Utes.

The Utes had Texas on their schedule for THIS year a few years ago. It was 3-game seies. With an upset of the Longhorns and Texas in the National title hunt, the Utes would be right there.

Instead, we cancelled on them because "we had to make room" for TCU. Which was bogus. It didn't make sense because we then scheduled Weber State a few weeks later.

We could have even bumped USU for a couple of years like we did to go to Notre Dame. Then last year, we added Michigan to the schedule for the 12th game.

Canceling to "make room" for TCU was a big excuse. I don't know if it was Chris Hill or Urban Meyer who nixed the game, but they are surely regretting that decision now.

What a shame! Oh...what could have been?

Great season though...GO UTES!

to Best Chance...

"Utah's best chance continuing their bowl winning streak would be playing Alabama in the Sugar Bowl." Have you watched Alabama this year? Alabama probably has more than 50% of its team who will be playing or starting in the NFL next season. I hope Utah can somehow not do like Hawaii in their infamous BCS bowl and get humiliated but honestly speaking here, TCU is the best team in the MWC in 08 and Ute fans know it. The only hope Utah has is that their opponent will be disappointed in having to play Utah and totally overlook and underprepare.

ACC is Utes only chance

Playing against the pathetic ACC would be Utah's ONLY chance for a bowl victory. Ute fans better hope for Cincinnati( another disapointing team like Pittsburgh)or even a totally overrated Ohio State team of the big 12. Penn State would kick Utah. The other teams ahead of Utah in the polls would destroy Utah. I think Utah is going to get a very beatable team like Cinci this year because no one from the big 12 or South East conf wants to be disapointed with having to play against the Utes.

Anonymous

I have to disagree that the Utes wouldnt match up well with Penn State. Please, PSU lost to Iowa who is 5-3 in their conference and has non conf wins over teams like Maine and Florida International to help inflate their win/loss record! I'd love to see Utah play Penn St!

Dave

It's hilarious that most of these posts are coming from Koog fans who are still feeling the pain of getting crushed by the Utes two weeks ago.

Enjoy Las Vegas once again and leave the BCS talk to the big boys.

The Utes are lucky they cancelled their game with Texas this season and substituted Weber State instead, or, forget any national championship hopes, their BCS hopes would have ended in September.

Utah 2004 might have had a chance of being competitive in a national championship game.

Utah 2008 wouldn't have a prayer.

Even with 6 turnovers killing 6 of their 13 possessions, BYU was still able to put up 24 points and over 400 yards total offense on Utah's "dominating" defense. BYU only punted twice during the game.

Oklahoma and Florida would hang 60+ on the Utes. USC, Texas and Alabama would hold the Utes to a touchdown or less.
