To All Knowing: I guess bad intelligence had nothing to do with it...right?
BH | 1:38 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
As pointed out above, Obama better watch his back side. Sure makes me doubt how intelligent Obama really is.

The Clinton's are very ambitious and will stop at nothing to further their careers. Let's see just how long it will take for the tail to wag the dog.
Southerner | 1:43 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Hey All Knowing,

Bush is saying that he regrets the bad intelligence which spurned the decision to war. Authorization was based upon bad intelligence. Are you disputing that?

It is so good to see all of the conservatives of Utah are still alive and well with there sour grapes. I was afraid that they might at some point realize that they were not the only ones to vote in this great country and that the majority voted for, dare I say it, the better candidate. Then these comments would have become ever so boring.

I am an Independent LDS voter.

It's sort of ironic that an article with the names, Obama, Clinton and Gates share the same front page with an article about our youth and the excessive amount of cheating and lying they do while feeling it's ok. When the people that our nation hold up as examples to the rest the world of the citizens of this country and they are no more than lying, cheating, theives, tell me, how else can we expect them to act?

The DOW is down 679 and dropping fast. Isn't this the new economy from Obama? I can't wait to see if it ever ends..... GoBama GoBama Go 'Bama Go 'Bama...

Sorry, couldn't control myself... I am just so excited for 'Bama...

Nikita Khrushchev was right. Americans are so gullible. The majority voted for a Socialist, who in turn appointed other socialist. Soon you will wake up and put on your grey PJ's and do it willingly. In the firm belief that we don't need fashion and grey looks great and is easy to clean. Yep...soooooo gullible

Congress did give Bush the authority, in Oct. 2002 to use force "if necessary" to bring Saddam into compliance. In Nov, 2002, Saddam let weapons inspectors back into Iraq. The UN Weapons Inspectors reported, in March 2003, that Saddam was allowing random searches, at a moment's notice any site they requested. They also reported they were finding no WMD's. Bush didn't care, he told the weapons inspectors to leave--US troops invaded.
Has anyone read Hillary Clinton's statement accompanying her vote in Oct. 2002? She was clearly against what Bush did.

Bait and switch,

"Obama pulled off the classic bait and switch. He baited voters with a promise of change and give us a corrupt, unqualified Washington insider!"

How many times must you people be told Obama did not mean that his administration would be made up of all fresh faces whose lack of experience would undermine our national security and economy but that policies, goals and priorities of his administration would be a change.

Who do you propose as the Secretary of State? The Wal-Mart employee who makes $7.00 an hour and has no experience other than how to stock shelves and operate a cash register? The ignorance of your comments are clearly demonstrated since for your kind of change to exist would mean that Obama would have to randomly pick people from a phone book and say "I have never met this person, know nothing about them yet I think I will flip a coin to decide if they will be my new Secretary of State."

The heads of Departments must be experienced, but they do not set policy. That is Obama and he is the agent of change that directs their experience to advance that change.
eyes open | 4:19 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
The "change" Obama brings to the table is an economic policy which isn't based on "trickle-down," and a foreign policy which isn't based on "might makes right," but seeks to use war as a last resort after every other option has been exhausted. And even more dramatic, appointing those who are experienced and knowledgable as opposed to belonging to the favored political think tank, as the Bush Administration did when they hired new college grads to oversee re-building in Iraq. Obama will be a refreshing change, but not a magician.
Voice of Reason | 4:44 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Speaking as someone who didn't so much vote for McCain as against Obama, I must say that his foreign policy team is not nearly as disastrous as I feared. Don't get me wrong, Hillary isn't exaclty my idea of the perfect First Diplomat, but she's much better than the uber-liberal Obama could have picked. He seems to be showing a noticeably moderate bent in his cabinet choices so far, which is a good thing.

I now see signs of "Yes We Did!" This just shows you how emotional these Liberals are. "Yes We Did" what? Nothing so far (not even in office yet) and yet you claim you have "done". That's shows the caliber behind the Kool-Aid drinkers.

Perhaps you missed it Utah, to much greese in your hair and this slipped over your head as always, or the liberal's got you all in another tail-spin over another subjest here, but, it still raises the question of her lingering debt from the presidential campaign, will it be a full pardon from hin to for her and this debt?. What is Mrs. Clinton going to do about the $8 million owed by her '08 presidential campaign?. After conceding the Democratic nomination to Obama earlier this year, the former First Lady was in the red to the tune of almost $22 million, the largest presidential campaign debt in history. She has already eaten the $13 million of her own money that she lent to jump-start the campaign. According to the October SEC reports, the Clinton campaign has just over $1.1 million on hand. Can she legally be retiring the debt as a federal employee?. What middle class tax payer's will pick up this debt?. Will it be the "Joe the Plumber's or Joe-Six-Pack" that don't spread their wealth's unless forced to like this act?. You tell me right now ok?.

Blind allegiance to a conservative, fringe ideology, driven by an insatiable desire for lucor and power, has driven our Country into the depths of despair! Yes, all will feel the pain and suffer because of the Bush/Cheney Presidency. Some will effectively deal with this reality, while others will remain in a self-imposed state of denial, that corrupts their ability to effectively support positive input and needed change.

President elect Obama has assembled a rather impressive group of experienced professionals, Republican and Democrat, to advise him in his pursuit of effective solutions and policies necessary to save us from the imcompetence/ corruption of a failed Presidency. The answer is somewhere in the middle of the political spectrum - let's go there, as we abandon political extremism! Country first!!!

MY Word of the week - for Obama & Billary here: Pococurante when used as an adjective, this week's word means indifferent, apathetic, nonchalant. It can also be used as a noun to refer to a careless or indifferent person.

What questions does everyone think the Democratic controlled Senate will ask Hillary during her confirmation hearings? Will she get the grilling Ted Kennedy and other dems in the Senate gave President Bush's nominees? NOT! Will anyone ask about cattlegate, whitewater and her work at the Rose law firm? Folks, America is seeing hypocrisy at its finest shamelessly displayed! The democratic party is a safe house for corruption and hypocrisy! Hillary is the proof!
Bro Chuck's Rock n Roll | 5:25 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
The Messiah Obamacon Returns, Blesses Nation with Huge Deficit and Collectivism along with Hillary Clinton. I actually ought to name myself an unofficial Obama advisor, because all last week I was asking, "Where is Obama?". Do you understand the total of these bailouts is now approaching $7 trillion? The Federal Reserve has pledged $7.4 trillion to ease frozen credit, $7.4 trillion, plus all these bailouts, all these stimulus packages. I guess Obama and the Democrats think that we're idiots here. They're repackaging his massive socialist agenda, his massive New Deal as a "jobs stimulus program" that will supposedly jump-start the economy. The Democrats, Chuck Schumer, they want to have a stimulus package on Obama's desk in January, the day he's inaugurated, of another $700 billion. He is promising you here a collectivist, socialist agenda. This is right out of FDR and the TVA and all these make-work projects, building roads, crumbling roads, bridges and so forth and this is not just a one-step thing, this is the plan for the future.
Omar | 5:29 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
During corruption hearings, Hillary kept saying, "she couldn't remember". She then sold her "memoirs for $2 Million. They must have been empty, just like her head! What a farce! Imagine sending her to "negotiate" with Iran, N. Korea or the Russians! They will see her exactly for what she is, an empty suit, a fake and a farce that they can manipulate and control.

AmericanVoice | 1:34 p.m. >>>To All Knowing: I guess bad intelligence had nothing to do with it...right?<<<

Even the best intelligence can sometimes be bad. And Congresspeople who uttered "aye" when the vote was taken (which included Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, John Kerry, John Edwards, and other Democrats) had just as much access to the intelligence (and staff to ferret the truth out) as Bush.

It was so interesting to read papers that gave Obama and his new cabinet credit for the jump in the Dow that we experienced last week. But, when he names Hillary and the Dow drops 500 points we decide it is because we are in a recession. You people are truly Amazing. The news media has made up thier minds that anything good that happens in the next 4 years will be because we elected Obame anything bad is trickle down from Bush. I am AMAZED that we fall for it day after day and this clown still hasn't taken the oath on the koran yet!!

Want to see the economy turn around and start the largest economic boom the world has ever seen? Cut taxes and limit the federal budget! But sadly, Obama will do exactly the opposite. Folks, if you think the economy has suffered since the election, just wait, until Obama announces the next enormous spending package and tax increase! Brace yourself folks, we are about to get a lesson in socialism and you ain't going to enjoy it!

Obama can't be any worse than what we have had for the past 8 years..A series a massive blunders that has brought this country to it's knees.. Don't blame a guy who hasn't even been in office for the mess we are now in.. I'm a life long Republican that is not afraid of the truth, and the truth is Obama didn't win the election the Republicans and their idiotic policies over the past 8 years lost the election.

Pray for change God's way; let Him chose. There is still two weeks before the electoral college votes.

Senator Obama campaigned on what sounded like a diplomacy platform. President elect Obama is saying he plans to make our military strongest on the planet, rebuild alliances, regain American leadership in all dimensions, with UN strong action including military force if needed to stop mass killings like those in Darfur.

While the UN is on the verge of collapse, he plans to give power to the UN (Book of Daniel). If our ways please God, we need no alliances. God destroyed nations that alligned with other nations for security. We wanted change from US posturing and interfering around the world. He campaigned against Senator McCains concepts for war and he is doing the same thing. He plans to send greater numbers of our youth to Afghanistan, get involved with stronger connection with NATO and UN peacekeeping forces. These are not the changes that will give peace. God promises peace to those who use His word for wisdom in how to fight the war, not in threatening sanctions as we are doing against Iran. THIS IS NOT CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN.

"Has anyone read Hillary Clinton's statement accompanying her vote in Oct. 2002?"

Ya, she passed the buck back to Bush with her statement. She basically abdicated her responsibility as a senator to declare or not declare war with no strings or conditions. Typical liberal trick. Pass the buck.

"She was clearly against what Bush did."

She voted "aye." There is no provision to add comment or condition to an "aye" vote on authorizing war.

Obama is a strong, thoughtful, savvy and intelligent leader. He knows he isn't going to succeed with a cabinet of yes men. So, he reached across party lines, and to competitors. He recognises the value of continuity. He's creating a cabinet of intelligent, challenging advisors.
The Slow Dripline | 8:07 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Obama isn't dumb enough to go socialist overnight. The media will buy into his centrist act and present him closer to Ronald Reagan than any past president but by 2016 everyone will be asking "How did we turn into a bigger socialist state than Europe?"

Keeping Gates is a mistake and Clinton will not be a good Sec of State. The AZ govenor is the biggest mistake. She hasn't done anything to enforce the borders unless the AZ legislature forced her into a corner.
re: All Knowing | 8:20 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Excerpts from Hillary's statement accompanying her vote Iraq Resolution, Oct. 2002.
"My vote is not, however, a vote for any new doctrine of pre-emption, or for uni-lateralism, or for the arrogance of American power or purpose -- all of which carry grave dangers for our nation, for the rule of international law and for the peace and security of people throughout the world.

So it is with conviction that I support this resolution as being in the best interests of our nation. A vote for it is not a vote to rush to war; it is a vote that puts awesome responsibility in the hands of our President and we say to him - use these powers wisely and as a last resort. And it is a vote that says clearly to Saddam Hussein - this is your last chance - disarm or be disarmed."

Southerner | 8:46 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
The Slow Dripline | 8:07 pm:

I agree. All this socialist hysteria is just hysteria. The American system has the ability to flush out any extremism with all the checks and balances. Obama will move to the center and not to the left which ironically will disappoint many Sean Hannophiles who are ready to say: "I told you so."

Obama will move closer to the center because he knows that if he doesn't, the Dems will lose in 2010 not to mention him losing in 2012.

Re: southerner | 9:31 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Do you really belive Obama will move to the center? I don't think so as evidenced by his choice of Hillary, who is so far left she can't even see center from where she is! Actions speak louder than words, always have, always will! The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. Obamas past is very liberal; anti second amemdment, pro abortion, anti family, he never met a tax he doesn't love, doesn't think we need a strong military and doesn't realize we are at war with terrorists. How could anyone be farther left than that?
Redistribution | 9:44 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
The increase of taxes that are coming to already over taxed Americans is only part of the redistribution we should all fear. The other shoe that will drop will be no domestic energy production which means Americans will redistribute much more of our "wealth" to OPEC and we will never become energy independant! Redistribution will hurt, it will hurt alot! We should have listened to Joe the Plummer, he was right! Some of us have "buyers remorse already"
Southerner | 9:57 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Re: southerner | 9:31 p.m

He may not move as far center as you may want but from his current position even based upon past votes, he will likely move more to the center than to the left. Of course, this is based on an opinion based upon what presidents tend to do.

But let's talk specifics. You say that he is "anti second amemdment, pro abortion, anti family, he never met a tax he doesn't love." What do you think he is going to do? Ban guns entirely? Encourage people to have late term abortions? Tax us more? Tell me what you think he will do. I am interested to know then explain how he can do it without antagonizing the Independents who will revolt by swinging Republican in 2010 and then he won't be able to do anything at all like Clinton in 1994.

BG aka lewt aka Murray dad, your aka references are delusional. I am BG and no one else in this forum, although some posters have tried to belittle my message, by using my name. Lucor and lucre reference money, not too difficult, but an obvious beacon for criticism - a tangent of opportunity, for someone of your persuation. You missed the point, a closed mind - quite typical! Divert the reader, impugn the messenger and the message becomes blurry and dubious to the reader, even though the misgiving is miniscule and meaningless. Unfortunately, it's just more of the same old warped, fringe thought process and mindless binging, deployed by a limited ideologue! Sorry, the gig is up for right-wing fanatics. Join mainstream America and be one of us. Be a positive influence for good, as we move forward to fix the myriad of problems created by the Bush/Cheney Presidency. President elect Obama is trying to do this! Open your heart and mind to the realities that inflict pain upon our People and do something positive for our diminished Republic. Let's be part of the solution, not the problem! Remember, a negative mind that distorts the truth, destroys the heart!
Change? | 11:01 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Folks, I have personally enjoyed the debate on here and wish to add my comment for your perusal. I maintain neither Obama, McCain, Hillary or anyone can solve America's problems. America will not get better until Americans get better! Better at what you ask? Better at living correct principles and governing ourselves. I think it was Thomas Jefferson who warned that this new government would be inadequate for a people who do not show self restraint and self control. Someone else said that a nation that refuses govern themselves are destined to be governed by tyrannts. Cecil B. DeMille said, "we don't break the 10 commandments we only break ourselves against them". Bottom line in my way of thinking; unless we live God's laws, there will always be caos and political and economic upheavals aplenty no matter who is president! In order for America to get better, Americans need to be better people. I am trying to be a better man, a better husband, father and neighbor. I hope all of you will too. See you at the judgement bar where we will all give our accounting of our lives even if you don't think so!

If you want change....Use the 600 Billion bail out cahs to fund American medical students. Change laws that allow for mal practice law suits to provide proof of INTENTIONAL mistakes before awards are determined to lower medical costs. Make new federally funded medical school graduates work in community hospitals for reduced pay, free of malpractice liability for 5 years to pay back the public that paid for their education. Give all retirees free medical coverage. 600 Billion oughta cover all of that for a few years. That's one approach.($600,000,000,000.00)
Bogey | 4:51 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
And once again, BO has shown his disdain for the Constitution. Hillary can't be Sec State unless there is a law that changes the salary of the position to be less than or equal to that of a senator.

The second clause of Article 1, Section 6, of the Constitution reads, "No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been increased during such time; and no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office."

So, BO and crew are demonstrating once again that they feel our founding documents are to be ignored at any and all costs.

It truly is a sad day in the USSA.
