Great game

I paid premium prices to get the SNES version three or four years ago - and I was not disappointed. The game is not in the least outdated, in my opinion. It's as involving and fun as it ever was, a perfect combination of story and gameplay. Even the graphics hold up quite well. And the soundtrack is one of the greatest ever made for a video game - hearing it now immediately brings up some fantastic memories and makes me want to go back and play it once more.

It's my all-time favorite game.

Square-enix must have a square-brain for not extending this series. It has the best battle system of ANY RPG (no random encounters, no corny battle screen, dual and triple techs, time bars) and makes the turn-based damage exchanges standard in most RPG's look like a bunch of kids playing in a swimming pool. Why they would not make a sequel that honored its gameplay and battle system is beyond me. Playing their other RPG's feels a lot like playing with a DVD Special Features menu.
