It's a done deal by 2012.
They like us because our football team is well endowed.
If (& I hope not) the MWC expands then it should be San Jose... even if its just a small piece of the San Fran/Oakland/San Jose TV Markets.
I'd invite NV-Reno or even Hawaii back before Fresno or Boise.
>>Who really listens to this moron anyway?<<
Certainly not Lou Holtz. Or me. Thank Goodness for the Mute button.
M May likes Dave Wannstedt... if that isn't proof he's clueless then...
I am a Utah grad but we need to face it that the Mountain West is not what we think it is. Utah barely beat Oregon State at home. BYU beat a winless Washington an a questionable call. Boise State thumped Oregon in Eugene. Look at all the common opponents and the story is set.
My personal opinion is that it would be bad for Boise State, Utah, TCU, and BYU if BSU joined the conference. It would be a gauntlet of a conference schedule, and as it is that a team needs to be perfect to bust the BCS, it is much less likely with BSU in the conference. So let us beat up on our teams while you beat up on your teams, because the worse thing that can happen is that we end up beating up on each other, and then NOBODY gets to go to a BCS bowl, and NOBODY gets any money.
I would like to see more BCS teams take home & home series versus BSU. (Kudos to U of O and OSU for doing it.) Unfortunately, our athletic director has to schedule based on the economics for the program and to sastify the fans.
BSU has been a 1A program for only 10 years... and in that time we have established dominance in our conference. (Albeit a mostly week conference with the occasional challengers.)
Summed up... we are still growing... we are still getting better... and pretty soon we will be in the MWC proving ourselves.
Bring on TCU in San Diego!
The next two years will be interesting. I think within the next two years, you will see some good things come out of Boise State.
Go eat some POTATOES and be glad you have electricity and running water!
You are worse that Cougar fans
MWC would have fewer 12-0 teams but if you think the MWC is dominating the Pac-10 now, just think what adding BSU would do.
Could we trade BSU for Wyoming? Cowboys need to go somewhere they can compete - they would be a good team in the WAC.
Quality wins? Michigan? ooooh..., what was your score against New Mexico? Do you seriously count the BYU win? Oh yeah, I forgot, BSU played Idaho State...but Utah played the big old tough Weber State. I will give you the quality of a win over a good TCU team. By the way...what was the score of the Oregon/Oregon State game this last weekend? Utah barely beat OSU in SLC but the weak inferior Broncos struggled with Oregon in Oregon. Enough said.
At least BYU played some quality opponents in the 90's. Here's some of the teams they played OOC in the 90's (when they were in the WAC)
Florida State
Miami
Washington State
Oregon
Penn State
UCLA
Notre Dame
Arizona State
Washington
Alabama
Wow. BSU has a long ways to go. Maybe if they played some quality opponents every year, they would get some respect. Must be nice to have a joke of a schedule every year. At least BYU played good OOC teams. I'm tired of hearing the mighty donkey fans make every excuse in the book about their schedule. Michigan may have been down this year, but winning at the Big House is a big deal. BSU has no guts to schedule that kind of game. BSU's AD has an incentive in his contract if he schedules two BCS opponents every year. Well, he won't get it this year or the next, or the next...If BSU plays in their home bowl, they will continue to be a joke and no one will take them seriously.
Also anyone that is bad mouthing BSU should listen to ESPN.
Now, that is something worth "using the google for"
>>In case you guys don't remember, Mark May played for U of Pittsburg.<<
So did real good players who had substanial pro careers; Marino & Tony Dorsett.
In regards to the people saying that Boise State dosnt have any Blue Chip recurits from out of state, Do a little research we have a few Blue Chippers. Does Ian Jhonson, Jermey Childs, or Kellen Moore ring a bell. All 3 recruited by the big boys!!
Further, Boise State has been the most consistent team of the last 10 years. And that is with four coaching changes. It doesn't matter which conference you are in when dealing with change. All the MWC schools complain that Boise got them on their down year. Well... maybe you should all man up and just admit that Boise State is better... or you can wait until they join the conference and beat you all year in and year out.
The BCS is a crock!
BSU breezed through the WAC in 2004 too but was completely overmatched against Louisville. Then they needed to pull out every trick in the book to beat Oklahoma in one of their worst years. Seriously that QB was no Sam Bradford. I'm not saying Boise State isn't a good team but it's hard to tell just how good when they play all these WAC teams. A lot of 4-loss teams could easily go undefeated with the same schedule.
These teams are already getting a lot of national respect and would be in a BCS bowl if Utah wasn't already ranked higher. Unless something crazy happens, Boise State - TCU is the best possible match-up available for both teams. Give these teams a chance to play a competitive team from another conference and see who is really better.
Boise should be allowed a BCS game- they did beat Oregon at their house.
They are undefeated and like BYU says, you can't pick your schedule- you play who you play.
They beat a solid Oklahoma team in one of the best games ever!
Boise would draw solid viewership so we could watch the magic again.
It is still very difficult to go through the season undefeated. 2 dropped passes in the Utah- TCU game and everything goes Boise's way.
Although, TCU lost to Utah I believe we are the best MWC team.
Those missed field goals were the killer.
They beat us the last time in Fort Worth in a nail biter.
May the best team win. This should be one of the better bowl games this year.
and for the rest of you, come the 23rd, boise state will ONCE AGAIN prove that they deserve more recognition.
what kind of mascot is a horned frog anyway??
