Once again, Harmon shows his ignorance. Usually the point of firing and hiring a new coach is to get better. After watching BYU's defense all year, which you've done Dick seeing as how you've been in Bronco's hip pocket all year, how could Jaime Hill be appealing to anyone? Just because someone is from the area, doesn't make them a candidate, you have to actually be qualified Dick.
You messed it again, USU is not in the MWC, even though they probably should be.
Come on! Dick didn't say USU was in the MWC. You should know that he doesn't write the headings for his columns. Give him a break! He knows who's in the MWC.
Shut up, already. If it bugs you that much, then read something else. What a moron.
down goes mendenhall
Time to match headline to content Dick! (maybe the bigger question is why Dick's obviously not required to submit his material to an editor before it goes to print)...
Harmon didn't say that USU was in the MWC. Just included Guy's name in with several MWC coaches out of a job.
And, your wrong again about USU should be in the MWC. The Aggies fell off the face of the football earth decades ago, never to be heard from again. They SHOULD be in the Big Sky where they could win a few games against natural rivals Idaho State & Weber State.
the headlines made up by someone else, not the columnist
Mr. Harmon does a great job on his articles. thank you. sometimes i don't agree with all he says either but unlike you and me he actually interviews the coaches and players. obviously we are reading the articles so it must mean he is doing a good job of writing. if you readers don't like Mr. Harmon's style then don't read his articles so we don't have to listen to your issueless arguments.
Keola10
whats with all the daggers directed at dick?
Jaimi Hill would be an excellent canidate for someone elses team.
BYU's defense was not deep and showed it the last several weeks of the season it was a matter of talent not coaching. recruiting is the answer for BYU's defense.
If SDSU hires green as they should then hill would be a natural choice for a coordinator job with his local ties. that would leave a job opening for Rocky long to lead the BYU defense. I know its a pipe dream but it was great while it lasted.
who cares who fills the wyoming job. Wyoming has been the milstone that BYU's President Beatman hung around the MWC neck since its inseption. UNLV has not been much better. UNLV provides a basketball presence and has played will at time this year(how could they loose to SDSU?) why when they had the chance did the MWC not invite fresno or boise or both?
Rocky long at New Mexico alway had a competitive team. codos to him. hope he is comming byu's way as defensive coordinator.
Re: Keola10
Read the article again, maybe it will make sense to you. Jaime Hill is a San Deigo native (helps in recruiting So Cal kids) and he has D-Coordinator at BYU on his resume, when will some of YOU realize that BYU is nationally recognized for the better part of 30 years as a top 25 team. I Understand that their defense struggled this year but he was still apart of the team the past 3 years when the defense was respectable.
Why Jamie Hill? I don't get that. Why is Anae not on this list? His offense has always put up big numbers. Do people think he just wouldn't leave?
Chip Kelly is the OC at Oregon, not Oregon State. Quality reporting.
The reason these four teams are about 6-40 this year is because they are lousy football schools, lousy programs, and they are out of the way, off the map places that nobody wants to go to, to coach, to play, to live. San Diego is a great place to live, but a lousy football school, with poor attendance.
Logan has no draw for coaches or players, they get what nobody else wants. Laramie has no draw either for coaches or players. A really good, proven coach is never going to take a job at any of these places.
Wow, don't be so harsh. It's an interesting article. Although, Chip Kelly is the offensive coordinator for the University of Oregon, not Oregon State.
Thanks Dick, I enjoyed the article. Keep us posted on the happenings, it's gonna be interesting. Nothing against Kent Baer at USU, but I would like to see a more offensive minded guy there, and one that could commit and use it for a stepping stone.
Good Article Dick keep them coming. There are some readers to the Desert news that will never be happy with anything Dick ever writes. I wonder which team they cheer for? NOT!!!
Hey people, kill the hate. Keola. I have know idea who you are but it is real easy to tell you have a big chip on your shoulder. To Keola and all the others, grow up, lose the hate.
This was a very informative story. Mr Harmon does an excellent job. That is why his name is on the story while we have to hide behind and alias.
They should bring in Rocky Long for Defense at BYU, they could really use someone that talented.
