BASKETBALL PRE-SEASON IS HERE!!!

I cant wait to see what this season has to offer us... As some of you must know i am a bingham fan and i love 5A sports but i really enjoy 1A basketball... I am a TABIONA FAN all the way!!! GOOD LUCK TIGERS!!!

Way to go Escalante. I hope they take it again this year. And way to go region 15 definately the strongest in boys and girls basketball.

dont know if i can agree with these rankings. a lot of those teams lost all their huge players from last year. like wasatch. lost their 3 big outside players. and peterson from logan was the only ball handler. they are good but not at close without peterson. Judge of course is a given. And we play hurricane every year at team camp and i dont think they are very good.

Really??? Already with the region 15 is better than the rest. Please don't start that again this year. Let the kids play, the coaches coach, and the readers read intelligent insightful comments. Not a bunch of has beens trying to prove they are the best by mouthing the most. Good luck to all the teams. When it is all said and done the best teams will be standing regardless of region or location.

I think Logan will do really well this year. They return a lot of guys that played last year, a team that made it to the semi-finals. Peterson was pretty good, but he was very frustrating at times. I think Logan will do even better this year than last.

dont you start slamming region 15 again already please the comment was merely stating they will do well. The coaches ranked region 15 as 4 of the 5 top finishers. How is that a bunch of has beens stating anything. I am not even from region 15. Sounds like you have a problem not anyone else.

I would have to agree with the previous comment about the 3A rankings-Wasatch will be lucky to have a winning season, let alone finish in the top five in 3A

Region 15 has room to talk because every year they are the top region. Until another region can compete with them then you have no room to talk.

BR will be the team to beat this year in 3A. They are loaded with talent and will be very good. Mo Park will lead the Bears to a state title!

I think Escalante has it made this year. The competition level is way down and Escalante is way up. Great bigs, great mid game, and probably the best three shooters in the state... They will be very tough to beat all year.

Where's Juab at? They have some good athletes and a new coach. I think they deserve some consideration for the 2A top 5.

The rams play Escalante today, I think that will prove a lot even though it's very very early. Let's see how the rams play with losing their 3 biggest kids. They will be a different team but they still should do fine. Nick Wood is a solid 3 year starter, look out for Robbie Tripp, he just may be the best pure baller in 2A. Skyler Harris and Cody Bradley are also experienced talents. Go Rams!

Reply to 2A at 11:13 a.m.- From what I've heard about Juab-the new coach isn't making a great impression on the locals. I think they do have some good athletes, but not sure if the best choice was made when it came to hiring their new coach. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see them a top five now, or at the end of the season.

The person who mentioned earlier that Orem is underrated was spot on. They have a lot of talent. Big man in the middle in Harward, shooters, athletes, new coach. You better not sleep on Orem my friends.

Escalante is going to be a great team this year but they definitely won't take it easily. Rich and Duchesne should be very tough, and in Region 15 Wayne, Panguitch, Valley, and even Piute should all give Escalante all they can handle. Wayne is small but very talented and quick, Panguitch is big and have tradition on their side, Valley has a great coach and good athletes, as well as Piute. Should be a great region and I am excited to see who comes out on top this year! Region tourney will be awesome!!! hopefully there well be some more last second shots!
p.s. Escalante does have some great shooters but i was wondering who you were referring to when you said escalante had the three best shooters in the state? Hughes and who else?

Also, don't count out Cedar High. They bring back their leading scorer and McDonalds All-American nominee in Joel Einfeldt and returning starter and lights out shooter in Kai Eldredge. Looking at Region 9 3A, you have to believe they are the team to beat with Hurricane a very close second. As they say, they are region champs until dethroned, therefore the championship will go through them.

Judge will be without their Big guy Walker. Logan will be fully loaded. Two 'all-staters' in Manning and McDade with McIntosh and Skabelund returning starters as well. Size,Strength speed and intensity huge factor for Logan. Bear River will be players as well. Weylund, Brunson and Isaac ?? good talent. BR and Logan will be key to watch towards the 3A titles.

The teams picked are a good choice, but I think Skyline belongs in the pack somewhere. They are a well coached and disciplined team and have one of the best point guards in the state.

You are right about Wasatch having some good young kids-but will the new coach be smart enough to play them over the older kids-guess we'll find out tomorrow morning when they play Salem Hills.

The 1A rankings really surprised me. The top 2 are probably right. Piute and Panguitch? Duchesne, Tabiona and Dugway should be strong this year!

Someone ranked Altamont in the top five? Thats a laugher. They are probably the worst team in the state! 0-8 in region play last year and this year won't be any better.

BR and Logan will headline the region. BR has Waylon, Park, and Bronson, with 5 other seniors. Logan will be strong with their seniors as well, Manning and Mcday. Watch for the Bears to win region and bring home the title the way they did in 1999-2000 season.

1A should be thanking the heavens Wayne had their defects. A 6'7" talent like McKay Blackburn with the perimeter play they already have would leave the rest of 1A in its wake.

Coach Briggs is the best H.S. in the state. This team could be a special one. Look for Jordan Werick to lead the team in scoring once again this year. It will be up to Rey Gallegos to step upo his game this year to put the Jags over the top. Cuts that were made this year were tough but were right on the money. One Player in particular had to go. He was cancer on the team. And he won't be there to bad mouth the team and the coaches anymore because he has left the state. look for the Jags to roll this year. Good Luck WJ!

You are obviously not a Bingham fan. That is fine. You ripped them during football and now are starting in with Basketball. They return some good talent from last year's 2nd place team. Next year they will be loaded, but to say they are terrible is reprehensible.

Altamont is quite possibly the best team in the state. They are loaded with talent and could compete with any team in the state. Lone Peak has nothing on that quality program.

I see Peak, PG, Alta, Bingham, Davis, Skyline and Jordan as the real contenders. WJ, you might think 2 players make a team, but it takes a TEAM to win it all.

If that was not a joke, you need to put down the pipe. Have you seen Haws play? He could beat your team 1 on 5.

Although in Basketball there is a remote possibility of a Major upset, but still like dumb and dumber 1 in a million shot. In football it is physically impossible.

piute is far from top 5, they are not top 10, escalante, rich, wayne, pang., valley, and duchesne will decide this year's champ. Region 15 is the clear favortie again but Rich is STRONG

Escalante will beat parowan by atleast 20 today, they did last year and parowan had a better team last year than they do now. Escalante has not gotten any weaker, it's going to be ugly!
