After the late season heroics I would think Yura would also be a shoo in to be on the protected list. I would think the biggest challenge would be whether to put Andy Williams on the list or not. Fans love him and he works his tail off every time he gets in a game but he is getting older and doesn't seem to be a full 90 player anymore. I would think one guy who will be gone for sure is Kenny D, after the hype of getting an SPL player he sure seemed to be a disappointment. I saw him miss on a lot of balls that should have been goals, between he and Mathis I don't know how many goal opportunities were squandered. The drive back to Boise was always easier when the team scored goals that even I could have put away.
Yura, Espindola, Beckerman, Olave, Morales, Findley, Wingert, Johnson, Russell, Borchers, and Williams.
If Andy is left unprotected, I hope Seattle has the decency & class to not select him. Given that his wife has leukemia and they are just getting settled in with doctors here in SLC, getting on bone marrow donor lists, etc., it would be extremely bad for the Williams' to have to pick up and move to Seattle.
Soccer's just a game - someone's life is at stake here. I hope Seattle realizes this and takes a pass on Williams.
Don't forget about Beckerman, he is a shoo in too!!!
