Pray for more snow this year! Make these energy technolgies worth it!
A great start. If you are into this sort of thing, let your voice be heard at pcmr.com. The resort does not currently have a consumer recycling program, so tons of water bottles, beer cans etc get tossed in the trash daily.
And THINK SNOW!
Woweee! Wind energy credits! Now there's an investment in nothing! Too bad "global warming" is a joke. The joke is on those who purchase such "credits." I'll take solid science any day that debunks this nonsense over computer-generated theory that promotes what will truly prove to be global destruction. Al Gore and his toupe can go fly a kite!
"Al Gore and his toupe can go fly a kite!"
And he'll probably find a way to give himself energy credits for doing it!
The Ski Area Citizens' Coalition research director, Hunter "Sykes, who teaches skiing in Durango, Colo., said resorts should be held accountable for development that could level trees, harm wildlife habitat or disturb water quality."
PLEEEEEEASE... Show me a ski resort that hasn't done all three of these when they were first developed!
According to the "research", what he really meant to say was that, "resorts should be held accountable for RECENT development that could level trees, harm wildlife habitat or disturb water quality."
So, if your "impacts" were completed before Al Gore "showed us the light" they are forgiven.
I don't have a problem with going green to a certain extent. But some of it is actually causing problems because people are getting into the hype of it instead of investigating whether certain switches will have good or bad impacts, or outright ignoring warnings of such problems. It sounds like the ski resorts are using good judgement in what they choose to get involved in though... but I agree, that smooth talking snake Al Gore needs to go away. There were others FAR more deserving of the award than him. And thank goodness the american public wasn't stupid enough to give him the presidency.
Skiing can never be green. Slopes are clear cut for runs and facilities, people put stress on species, power and utilities must be provided, hotels and condos are built and more people mean more roads.
Travel to Switzerland and compare it with Utah. The Swiss have something Utahans lack: pride.
This is just silly! All symbolism with no substance at all! Al Gore and his carbon offset credits are completely rediculous! Folks, go take a Botany class. Plants take CO2 out of the air and through photosynthesis covert it to sucrose and release pure O2 into the atmosphere! The higher the CO2 in the atmosphere, the faster the photosynthesis rate. This is all about creating a bogus cash cow for the environmental "industry". Have you sent your "save the planet" contributions in yet? These people are laughing all the way to the bank! There is a fool born every minute and most of them are members of the Sierra club et al!
