Well the night was memorable. Maxie got whacked!!!

It was reminiscent of the whoop'n that Type Detmer got at Hawaii just after he was awarded the Heisman.

Well atleast he didn't get both shoulders seperated.

Remember CUBERS, "there needs be an opposition in all things".

Some conferences can't fill their commitments this year. Maybe you can play somebody that has some credibility in your bowl game.

You will never know how good you are until you play the best. Maybe Utah will get that chance this year. Win or lose it will be a hoot.

Good Luck Cougars & Utes. We still love ya......

Once again the refs hand the game to Utah.
RE: Utes Join Ball St. | 10:09 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
And your point is...

Look, BYU 24 UTAH 48

Home field advantage DOES NOT account for that point spread. Do you know anything about football?

Now BYU can sit back in the charity line and receive $1+ Million for doing NOTHING...AGAIN!

BTW...Collie is still open - The UTES have taken the ball the other way. Get it, Mr. football man?

Just kidding! Congrats Utah!
re: It's official | 10:10 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
I'd just like to point out that "Harline", "Collie", and any other BYU receiver wasn't open! Over and over and over! But several Ute defenders were!!! HAHAHA!
Provo Brothers | 10:10 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Hall showed just what a class act he's NOT! I'm waiting to hear If Dickie Harmon says anything about Hall's un sportsman on Kruger. And Zoobs, TCU should be going to Vegas NOT YOU!
knuckles | 10:11 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
I am appalled to see how many Byugers are throwing Mini under the bus. Dude was pressing to get his team going. Most of the interceptions were just great plays by the defense (after dropping a few chances early). One was a tipped ball. BYU lost as a team. Congrats to both teams on great seasons, and good luck to both in the bowls. The more MWC teams win in the bowls, the better.
And....... GO UTES!!!

I'm looking forward to it as well!!

Interesting comments on this board..is it all really worth it? Most of your comments are about as interesting as being the target of "road rage". I have admit Halls performance was disappointing but really, he is a nice guy too like all BYU players.
Sad BYU fan | 10:13 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Utes came to play i will admit and they played really well. Max Hall... did not sadly, BYU just got out played and poor choices by max hall and the cougar offense and defense, good game on Austin Collie and Utah good game around they played to the whistle and ya, but im sorry ute fans im not going to root for you in the BCS game, congrats on getting there but im not going to root for you.... sorry
Utah Fans | 10:14 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Enjoy! The Utes earned their victory. Perfect on both sides of the ball. Hall stunk it up and the loss falls SQUARELY ON HIS SHOULDERS!
Ute For Life | 10:14 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Great game Utes! I am sure glad they won! I feel for Max Hall, he didn't have his typical game. I was getting nervous for awhile there until he unravelled. Just think, he fumbled and threw 4 interceptions, if Ute defenders could have caught other balls that hit them in the hands, he would have turned the ball over 9 times tonight. That is a rough game. I've never liked Collie, but he has earned my respect, he is a player. This is the best offensive performance by Utah that I've seen all year, BJ played out of his mind! Congrats Utes! Keep your head up Cougs.

Utes regain bragging rights, but | 10:18 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Utes have bragging rights for 12 months, there is nothing we can do about it. We've had it for the past 24 months. It's hard to give it up but we have too. I hate the Ute fans like the rest of you do, but oh well, we have to give 'em up. Max didn't bring it tonight. But remember, we don't have to cheer for the Utes in their meaningless BCS game and we don't have to worry about them catching us in the National Championship category either. We just have to give up the bragging rights for 12 months. So, I officially hand them over. Again, I hate Ute fans, you all make me sick,.... I'd rather be dead than red. I'll be back for the bragging rights in 12 months.

I agree. Yeah you lost the game. And I know this season is disappointing in comparison to your goals. But there are a hundred other teams out there that would love to end the season at 10-2. Good luck in Vegas!

Go Utes!
re: Texas BYU Fan | 10:23 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
I hope Utah gets the Tide! I expect Florida to beat the Tide, so Alabama will go to the Sugar Bowl. Utah just needs to go to that instead of the Fiesta Bowl. I want the MWC to show the SEC, and Utah can beat the Tide! Alabama's ranked wins are against Georgia and LSU, and I believe LSU will drop from the rankings this week. Alabama almost lost to LSU, Mississippi, and Kentucky! Utah should be able to beat them! ACC or Big East champions will be a walk in the park. Pac 10 champion will be Oregon State when they beat Oregon next week, and Utah already beat them. Can you imagine the argument against the BCS if Utah plays and beats Alabama? Especially if we beat them bad? We will have beaten the Pac 10 champ, TCU, BYU, and then the 2nd place team in the SEC? If Utah plays in the Fiesta Bowl, it will be against Texas, Oklahoma or Texas Tech. I would love it if we win that match-up, but it won't be easy!

Right! BYU spin. If BYU had gone undefeated, you would be singing a very different tune. As it is, you establish yourself only as a loyal supporter. Spin, spin, spin.

Ute fans, the one constant... | 10:28 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
The players come and go, the wins and losses are traded back and forth, but the only thing that remains is the foul stench that rises from the occupied seats at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Financial Win for BYU | 10:29 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Although Cougar fans are understandably disappointed with the loss, they can take console themselves with the payout that the Utes have earned them by qualifying for the BCS! No other MWC team besides Utah could have made the BCS, and Utah could not bust the BCS again without a win. Go Utes!
Jarid in Cedar | 10:29 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Hats of to Brian Johnson. He has improved his decision making greatly since giving 2 touchdowns to Air Force. Each game from there forward he has managed the game well, minimized mistakes, and stepped up when his team needed it most. Starting with SDSU the OC finally started calling the game to his strength(ball control passing) and not trying to throw 40 yd bombs when the situation is 3rd and 8. Only one deep pass was thrown tonight and it was a touchdown in the 2nd quarter. Johnson was the star and I think he would have willed Utah to a win even if Hall had not imploded.
Super Y fan | 10:30 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Well, Utah won today BUT our stadium is still bigger and THAT'S what's important. Even though we got worked tonight, I can go to bed knowing that our stadium is still bigger. Way to go stadium!

Most, if not all, things in life are like the Janet Jackson song; What have you done for me lately?

BYU's NC then resembled the Van Halen album. Great back in the day. Now, its nostalgia like the Bowling for Soup song.

Congrats to the Utes! | 10:33 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
May you go to the BCS game and get blown out and I look forward to next year when the Cougars returns the favor and blows out utah.

See you in 364 days!

Jarid in Cedar | 10:35 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Great year for MWC football. Utah and BYU are overrated by about 5 spots each(SO WHAT...PennState is overrated by about the same as well). TCU is about right. I look forward to a BCS game(I will be going). That said avoiding the SEC or B-12 would help toward a feel-good ending of this year. This team is not the 2004 team and is undefeated because of having "huge stones", not from being dominating like that 2004 team dominated.

Congratulations Utes | 10:37 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Congratulations on playing the better game. Your team deserved to win tonight. Now about your fans...I believe I have attended my last Utah/BYU game in RES. The rude, crude comments of your fans do not go along with the play of your excellent team.

I have seen the rivalry of several other high profile colleges and the lack of civility of the Ute fans toward their guests from BYU was at an all time low.

Let's see if you treat your BCS opponents fans with the same level of respect.

All this aside good luck to the Ute team. We will cheer for you to represent the Mountain Conference.

Congratulations to the 2008 MWC champion Utes! Take the BCS by storm.

Go Utes!
RE: Utah Fan, the one constant | 10:39 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Your hate defines you. Do you understand were your hate comes from? Not from Utah Fans. It a direct reflection of who you are.

Try taking the "road less travelled." "It has made all the difference."

Great game Utah. Good luck in the BCS.
Collie is a Stud! | 10:41 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Hats off to the Utes. Job well done.

Hats off to Collie as well. It was obvious tonight that he was the best player on the field.

Hope he sees the $$$$ for him in the NFL and leaves early. Utah had their eye on him all night and he still got 104 yards.
Utes are still... | 10:43 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
...the second most popular Utah team to the nation.

The Utes will never rise to the national level of BYU until it wins a National Title. Sad but true. You didn't play one top 25 team on the road this year so it won't happen this season.

You are not even perfect yet. You still have one game to go. However, you are the best team in the MWC, congrats, yeah! But on a National level, you are best known as that "one team out west" who Urban Meyer coached before he went to the big time. That's what you are known for. BYU is known to the nation as "National Champions." and "Heisman Trophy winners."
NevadaUTE | 10:42 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
BYU had THREE egregious personal fouls! The Utes had ZERO. So much for "higher morals".
Anonymous | 10:43 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Just watched the response of the players. As usual the players on both team displayed a lot of class. I was very impressed with Max Hall and Austin Collie and Jan Jorgensen's comments after the game. I love my Utes but both teams have great players. As for the fans. Both sides get embarassed by the actions of a few.
Cougars Fan | 10:43 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Well Utah can thank Max Hall for the 6 gifts he gave them. But what I cannot understand is why in the world we were throwing the ball so much when we had all the momentium down only 24 to 27. Unga and Fui were running the ball at will on the utes defense, we had a great chance to chew up some clock go down and score and take the lead. Instead, Hall throws deep into double coverage to Collie and it gets intercepted. From that point on the utes had all the momentium and Hall just kept pressing, throwing the ball into coverage. We should of just kept the ball on the ground, Fui and Unga took good care of the ball when they got it, but Hall was just plain careless with the ball tonight. Hall better get out of his bad habit of staring down recievers thats his biggest problem he has to overcome or he will continue to struggle against tougher defenses
BYU fan | 10:45 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
The utes won...BYU fans know it. It just gets old to hear the uneducated insults from Ute fans. The reason that I hate the U is because they have the most obnoxious fans in the world. I guess they get it from the trailor park and the K-Mart checkout line. Not only was the game a sell out, but Ute fans also set the world record for most mullets in the same building at the same time. Congrats!
The perfect remedy! | 10:45 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Today's win is the perfect remedy for the past two years. This win truly heals the past. To know what the kewgs could have muffed up our BCS dreams TWICE! Unreal! They couldn't do it the first time and fell as flat on their face the second time.

WOW!

The kewgs luck or "magic" ran out today. Their wins in '06 and '07 were truly fluks and they proved it tonight.

Thanks Utah. Well done. BCS - here we COME!
Utah and the BcS | 10:48 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
I'm a Cougar fan, but I'll be rooting for the Utes in the bowl -- and it is a shame if they don't get to play for the national championship.

I wrote Jim Rome 2 weeks ago and said, "There are those clamoring for a Big Twelve - SEC showdown in the title game, and if both leagues produce undefeated teams, maybe so. If they don't, then Utah deserves a shot if it gets past BYU. Here's why:

To be undefeated Utah will have defeated 2 top 25 teams and one that should be top 25: TCU, BYU and Oregon State (They beat USC and lost to Stanford in their opener, Penn State in their second game, and Utah - all three losses on the road).

Most of the teams with one loss suffered that loss at the hands of a supposedly vastly inferior team, or at least to a non-contender: Penn State lost to Iowa, USC to Oregon State (who Utah beat), Florida to Mississippi. Who is to say that in a legitimate world with a legitimate system, Utah wouldn't beat a supposedly vastly superior team.
Utah and BCS cont. | 10:49 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
say, if two teams are left undefeated, and one of them is Utah, Utah should get the shot.

Oh, and if Florida beats Alabama and is the SEC title winner and Urban Meyer doesn't agree, then he isn't just a carpet-bagger, he's a hypocrite. His undefeated Utah team produced the number one draft pick, and he took players from that team to help build his championship team at Florida, so surely he can't say "we are better and have better talent." If you were better, Urban, you wouldn't lose to a team in the middle of your league.

When the NCAA wises up and has a playoff, then one, two, three or four loss conference champions will ALL get their shot. Until then, Utah has a legitimate claim.

A BYU fan in Salt Lake
Just a thought | 10:50 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Utah won yes, but next year doesn't look so promising. They lose like EVERYONE!
Uncle Rico | 10:50 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
1984- right Cougs? Ah, the good ol'days of 1984. Gimme a break. You guys got smoked today. I'll take our 2 BCS games that have actually happened in the last 20 years. By the way- how about that Utah basketball team back in 1940's...NCAA champs!
BCS-National Championship | 10:53 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Part of the reason the BCS was put into place was to prevent a team like the 84 Cougars from winning the National Championship. BYU deserves the credit, they won the title within the rules of the day, but the bottom line is they barely beat a 3rd place 6-5 Michigan team to earn that honor. They were not the best team in the country, in fact that team is not the best in BYU history. If there would have been one undefeated team from a power conference, BYU does not get the title. When BYU fans use this fact to try and prove BYU is superior in football it just doesn't work. Please, BYU fans, come to terms with reality. You have a great program, nothing to be ashamed of, Utah's busting of the BCS is every bit as impressive as the National Title considering the system that is in place and the mentality of the national media. Utah and BYU have both represented the State of Utah very well this year. Hopefully they can both win bowl games. Success at each school helps the state on a national level.
BYU vs. Utah | 10:54 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
I just wanted to say thank you to both of these MWC Schools...I had the Utes -6 and the over tonight at 53 1/2!!!! CHA-CHING....
Utah and BcS cont. 2 | 10:54 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
I'd also like to add this:

Any fan who says "we" when talking about the game is a "we-enie." Unless you were on the field, you are a wannabe, not a "we."

Rushing the field -- act like you've been there before. That is juvenile.

I said it in August, and I'll say it again -- BYU (and I'm a grad) talks WAY TOO much, especially before the season begins. This was supposed to be "BYU's best offensive line ever." How can a team that has had an Outland Trophy offensive lineman and put MANY into the NFL say that? Arrogance, pride, youth, stupidity -- not what is the coaching staff's excuse for letting them say that? The Utes took those boys to school.

I'll be SO GLAD when there are no more Reynolds boys -- over-rated.
All week long! | 10:55 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008
This week has been exausting listing to all those Kewger fan's HOT AIR! "We're all this... and we're all that..."

Well, kewgers, we call ALL agree that you're just NOT BCS bound.

Oh, and that you're NOT perfect. We can ALL agree that you're far from it.

Let's all agree, too, that Utah IS BCS bound AND Perfect.

and that's no HOT AIR.
