You know, a member of my ward last year admitted to getting down on his knees IN
FRONT OF the television and saying a prayer before the last play. This is a 68
year old Cougar fan. Not a 6 year old child.
But the question I would ask him now, is: Where is your God now? Is he on the Utes side, or what? How do you explain this loss? cuz I know you cougar fans have been praying like crazy for this one too.

Max Hall is still a very good qb. I seem to remember a guy named Detmer having
some 4 int games. No rational BYU fan truly believed BYU had this game (see my
Utah 37 BYU 31 pick). The fact is this year Utah was a more complete team on
both sides of the ball. As a BYU fan I will man up, take the high rode, and
admit that Utah is better this year. I think we belong in the Vegas or
Poinsettia bowl and will like our results much better than getting clobbered in
the BCS. BYU is still a good team, Utah is very good. As a rational BYU fan it
is my true belief that if Utah happens upon Florida or another team of that
caliber which will be great, they will los by 2-3 touchdowns. That is why as a
BYU fan I am glad we are not going this year because we would lose by more.
Some perspective of the Crowton years will remind us that potentially three
straight 11-2 season is not bad. That being said, I hope for the sake of the
MWC, Utah wins so auto births come our way soon.

The Utah 48-BYU 24 score was not because Utah was the better team, but ONLY
because BYU literally GAVE them the ball - namely Hall throwing them the
football four times for easy scores!

Preseason, BYU was pumped with many hypes:
1) Quest for Perfection: turns out to be a big joke!
2) Max Hall for Heisman: bigger joke --or should I say big choke in big games TCU and Utah
Utah on the other hand, quietly went on its way and:
1) Ends the season with PERFECT record
2) BJ: quietly ends his career with most wins in Utah history and steps up BIG TIME in big games --Oregon State, TCU and BYU

Max Hall is no John Beck. That point is crystal clear after tonight. Mark Lyons
pointed out how Max just loses his head when faced with adversity while Beck
would reload and come back. Hall was a joke tonight. Also, Bronco has to cut all
the cute business talk about "qwest for excellence" and "fully
invested" balone and go recruit some defensive players for 09. It is time
for Bronco to to either prove he can recruit or step aside and allow someone
else to do the job. BYU's defense was a joke all season long and it ended
with another repeat of the TCU game.

As a realistic BYU fan I have to say Utah is the best this year, BYU was out
played out classed and out coached, Perhaps next year we shouldn't
concentrate on perfection let's concentrate on not being the 3rd best team
in the Mtn West. All I can say to Bronco is get an offence coach that can use
your talent, and do something with your defence. Max Hall showed that he really
needs to improve and quit reading about being an all-American because he really
isn't that good.Just saying it as it is.

Wow. I haven't seen a BYU quarterback choke that badly EVER. Collie, the
O-Line, and Unga looked great!
Congrats to Utah. Your defense came up big. Your offense capitalized on Max's lack of execution. I've never seen one player affect a game so badly.

There is no doubt that Utah is the better team. Congratulations on winning the
MWC and a BCS bid. The Cougars can go back to work and get off their high
horses. They took a real thumping and now are third in the MWC. I think
Wittingham is a better coach than Bronco Mendenhall any day. This is a real
clear statement to the sports fans in Utah.

Utah DID NOT run up the score!! A field goal puts the lead at 20, if BYU scores
three miracle touchdowns, Utah loses. There was no advantage for Utah to kick,
either they are up 24 or BYU has a long field.

I want to thank the classy fans who realize this is just a football game and
actually has no value on how people should feel about their lives. As a BYU fan
I am fine and not afraid to congratulate a better team. Ute fans, please
realize that the trash talking BYU fans are indeed in the minority, and lumping
cougar nation into this group is not right. I would suspect that the same Ute
fans who are now giving the "in your face" or "kitten"
comments are the same ones who have talked trash the last couple of years and
also dissapeared from the board when BYU won. Bottom line, this is a great
rivialy and both programs are headed in the right direction. I refuse to hang
my head at potentially three straght 11-2 seasons. I am proud of my cougars and
will keep cheering them on...win or lose! Hear hear to a great MWC this year
with Utah at 12-0, and BYU and TCU at 10-2. Congrats to the Utah Ute nation and
good luck against what will surely be a great opponent. See you and a motivated
Max Hall next year in Provo.

We lost this year and that is all there is to it. Hall made himself and his team
look bad, but they played their best I am sure but it just wasn't good
enough. NO EXCUSES! Don't even try, you are just feeding the fire from the
Utah fans here that don't know what a good winner is.. and they didn't
even play in the game. Enough of the hate. Some of you have to get up tomorrow
and see you fellow church members and whether you were red or blue today, be a
good sport and take the other guy's (and gal's) hand and say good
game. The best team won.

Yes. Better than BYU - yes, but not by much, even accounting for today's
score. Max Hall was Utah's best friend today. He had the worst game of his
career (bad time to have it) - way too many unforced errors.
Is Utah a great team? In the MWC but not nationally. They are a very good home team and were fortunate that the the three best teams on their schedule were played at home. If any of those three (OSU, TCU or BYU) played on the road - Utah loses.
Utes are BCS bound - If they are pitted against a top 10 team, they are gonna get worked!

BYU worsened.
I know they had a few injuries, but the coaching this season wasn't great for BYU (I actually like Bronco, just not a great year for him).
I think putting the pressure of the "quest for perfection" label at the beginning of the year was a big mistake.
Also Unga and Vakapuna are studs and could have been used better by the coaches.
Max Hall has telegraphed his passes all year. Against fast teams it has killed him. Utah dropped 3 more picks.
Good luck to both teams in their bowl games. It has been a great year for football in this state (Don't forget Weber).

suspect for the past 6 weeks.
