Little brothers - listen bud, you gotta beat BCS teams. BYU has done more harm that good when we were in the old WAC. Until recently, BYU would choke on every ex-conference game they played. Losing bowls year after year. So yes, you pounded the conference 8, 9, 10+ plus wins then choked. So if your champion does this year after year, what happens - you get called Mid-major. Recently, Bronco's been fixing that, so I for one am happy. But the Lavell years didn't help this conference.
Look at your Basketball team - watch them again run through the conference then choke in the first round. You BYU fans know your weakest and that's what gets you fired up over other MWC teams that can win outside the conference.

As I have shared with the talk radio boys all year the biggest weakness BYU has is its QB position. Now that sounds so obvious but last week so many fans were saying something different. Hall did the same things he has done for the past two years whenever BYU plays a fast aggressive defense and he gets rushed and hurried. He locks onto receivers and a good defense knows where the ball is going. He also does not read past his first progression usually. Utah and TCU knew who his target would be given any offensive set. They could also positon their players to force the receiver to choose a particular route when he had an option an drop another player into the pattern. Hall threw 5 picks, he threw 3 more but Utah dropped them. He also had 6 blocked passes. Utah knew this scheme as well as BYU did. The worst part of it was that BYU's coaches didn't adjust the pass game except it was clear they decided they couldn't pass and started running play after play. That works unless you are down by 3 scores. Poor Defense, Weak QB and no adjustments. Sounds familiar.

thanks for the BCS money Utah.... good game - I love how you guys bring it every year...I wish Bronco could instill a little passion into his players. It's the last reg season game of the year... stop playing prevent D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Attention every one. Today is 11/23 and the zoo is now closed. Come back on Dec 20 for another BYU matchup with a middle of the pack PAC-10 team in Vegas. Be prepared for a close battle as the cougars try to repeat their miracle of last year with a one point victory. Witness the sold out stadium as the cougar fans cheer for a last minute saving play that will surely show their mid-major talents. But thats not all. Come back on August 2009 - and as we say every year - wait until next year.
NevadaUTE | 1:34 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
BYU fans keep telling us about "class"?!! BYU had THREE nasty personal fouls, the Utes had NONE. Where is the "class" there?!! And all this baloney about higher morals, etc. My wife worked in the ER at the Provo hospital and saw drunk, stoned BYU football players on more the one occasion. BYU football staff was always there to cover it up. If you really think BYU has more "class" than Utah you've been drinking the punch way too long and need to get out of Happy Valley and see the real world.

I am so impressed with the congratulatory posts from many Kewg fans. I was also impressed that with all the BYU gear walking around the stadium I saw no one getting heckled on either side. The folks in our section (south end zone) didn't have any problems and everyone was gracious on both sides the whole time. There was some cheap shots on the train afterwards but the Y fans brought that on themelves then laughed with us when they caught crap. As for getting beat or even stomped in our next game, I think the pressure is off and we win already, score notwithstanding. As for Kewger fan hating on their own players and coaches, you are crazy. Maybe you forgot about the Crowton era already. Your team is really good, they just have the fatal no-speed flaw against teams that emphasize that. John Beck was a chump who put it together his senoir year and I think Hall is better now than Beck ever has been. Interesting to see next year considering the losses to graduation on both sides. Thanks to very classy Y fans and thanks to Scoobie for finally figuring it out through the fog.

Well, I can't be the only person in Utah to not blog here! Kudos to all those Cougar fans that congratulated the Utes on their win in this blog. True class!! Kudos to all those Ute fans who were gracious in the win.

To all you negative bloggers, you embarrass yourselves on either the blue or red side.

Yes, I was disappointed that Max Hall was the "Player of the Game" for Utah. I can't describe how badly he forced things and didn't control his emotions. I hope he learns from this experience so he will be better next year.

Cougar offensive weopons for the most part come back next year (Utah loses many). . . and we should have Utah and TCU at home next year . . . hopefully, the stars align . . .

I hope the BCS does not disrespect the Utes by giving them a worthless team to play. There is absolutely no reason they shouldn't play against any team ranked higher than them.

Go Utes, you carry the banner for the Cougars as well so beat this dumb BCS monopoly and hope for Obama to sweep in and bring a play-off!

Wow! I havem't seen anything this twisted since reading Super Dell's blog.

A BYU fan complaining about lack of originality?

p.s. Go Utes!

What's with the Alex Smith bashs BYU??

Care to compare his age with the age of your players.
Care to compare his bank account.

He'd be considered a younger QB if he entered BYU right now.

Stop with the 1984 stuff already!! Shheeezzee next you'll be taking about your dentures.
please!! | 1:55 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
i do not want to hear any of the whining from the byu fans. Really what do you expect if you go into the middle of the muss with all of your byu clothing in a big rivalry game. You have to be stupid to not know that you are sitting in a very hostile environment.
Dance Fever | 1:57 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
BYU tried to do the Haka then got stomped.

re: BYU FAN | 5:50 a.m. Nov. 23, 2008

>>Why did they let Blaine Fowler call a BYU game?

Listening to BF whine after the Utes hit 47 was priceless. At least, Todd C would've taken it like a man.

>>Bronco needs to hire a defensive coach.<<

I thought Mendenhall was a defensive guru. Oh wait; BYU is no longer running that goofy 3-3-5. Funny because it relies on a quality secondary which BYU hasn't had and probably never will.
Cougars | 2:00 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
enjoy the las vegas bowl again! even if the utes play a dud team in the bcs, who cares we are still there, we still get the check and the notoriety. your program is second class even for the mtw, your just another 10 and 2 team. the cougars are insignificant.

being 7 and 5 or 8 and 4 or whatever we have finnished the past couple years makes being undefeated again, going to the bcs again, that much better.

BYU keeps going 10 and 2 and keeps going to the vegas bowl.
max hall really wishes he was a ute. thats why he kept throwing us the ball. he is my one of my favorite utes!

They were on a crusade like the current outgoing president was on 9/16/01.

Flames6 "...I was also impressed that with all the BYU gear walking around the stadium I saw no one getting heckled on either side..."

i was in the north west corner of the stadium...lots of classless utah fans all around...i mean really classless...not all, but a significant number for it to be a trend...lots of foul language and middle fingers used for sheer shock effect...i ride the train once every 2 years to go to the rivalry game, and for the most part, RES looks like they emptied out west valley and gave everybody a read hat and sweatshirt...
Home near the U of U | 2:34 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
Ute fans are the rudest people on the face of this planet. These people have the nerve to park in my driveway believe it or not? I had one of the cars towed off last evening so that I could get in and out of my driveway. I'm wondering what kind of brain damage is going on here??? Anyway, I could care less who won the stupid game. JUST FIND somewhere different to park rather then my driveway. The parking at the U of U is outrages!
Breaking News! | 2:40 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
Utah just offered Max Hall a scholarship. The only catch is that he has to continue playing for BYU and ensure that he's the starter at BYU in next year's Holy War.

You are an ignorant fool no doubt! Also, I'm a fan of none! I don't chum with idiots!
LOL!!!! | 3:26 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
I agree that Ute fans have absolutely no class whatsoever. They are juvenile delinquents and need to grow up. I caught one last year spray painting lamp posts with anti BYU stuff. What a weirdo that guy was.
Graceful in Defeat | 3:35 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
Way to go Utah! The Utes played a great game and they exposed Hall's (and BYU coaching) weaknesses. As for the Utes ... may you represent the MWC and the non-BCS conferences and teams well. I hope you get a good opponent (not a Pitt) and stomp on 'em.

Though I am a BYU fan, I give credit where it's due. Utah deserves it and I can only wish them the very best. Great game!

Why thank you for that nice insight. I guess that means Brian Johnson is a chump who put it together his senior year, too. Yes, thanks for bringing that up.

Bottom line: neither team was man enough to play BSU this year. Go Broncos. Would like to see the non-BCS teams play in a BCS bowl.

BYU would have won if the game could have been watched on a TV station somewhere outside the Rocky Mountains.

Class-less | 3:55 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
Congrats to the Ute Football team! You did well!! Please don't do a Hawaii and embarrass yourselves--or your big Brothers from the South. Congrats, too, on becoming the biggest financial booster this year to BYU Athletics.

I, too, was in the North end-zone and was amazed at the classless fans. 99% of the comments were trashing Mormons and had religious hate and overtones. Unbelievable. The taunting had nothing to do with Football or BYU and everything to do with "Elders, fasting/prayer, Bishops, Temple Recommends, etc." Plenty of fbombz and fingers. Unreal.

I've lived in Alabama and Washington State and have witnessed first hand intense rivalry with Auburn and Oregon/Wash. St, respectively. Those matchups have nothing to do with religion and are just about Football and tradition.

I, personally, think its about time to give this game a break--maybe a 10 year hiatus and let things cool down. BYU did this with Hawaii and Utah St. and I think it's time to re-think this once a year excuse every year to legalize Religious Persecution.
copius | 4:03 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
I have heard that lots of Mormons supported the U and gave money to field the football team. Since I am unhappy with the way things turned out, I would like to have a protest march around the stadium with Rocky and his friends so that we can change things to the way I think they should be. Apparently lots of U think this kind of protest should work. But it won't. I can't quite bring myself to say Utah should have won, but they sure enough did. I hope they represent the MWC better than the perfect Wyoming cowboys played in their bowl game after demolishing BYU in 1966. Go Utes. Until next season, anyway.
Enough | 4:18 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
Stop the wah wah. You need to look to the future.

Arizona 45 BYU 13.

Dang, now its MWC vs PAC-10 as 6-2.
re: ds7 | 4:22 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
I've been to plenty of games at les...and it's the same thing. If it's so offensive, don't come back to our stadium. Stay down in your part of the world with prayers before the game and primary songs during it. We won't miss you.Great game Utes!!! Brian Johnson was nearly perfect - what a great way to end his career at Utah. Hopefully we will get a shot at a good team in the BCS...GO UTES!!!
Re: Disappointment Awaits | 4:26 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
You have been spewing that drivel since before the TCU game and then the BYU game. Give it up already. None of what you said in your post bodes well for your BYU team. Besides, no one (BYU or UTAH) cares what you think. I'm embarrassed to have written this response.

BYU 24 UTAH 48 Deal with it.
BSU Who? | 4:33 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
My starting to think that BSU fans whine more. The Hilarious Bowl must not be enough.

Come on - lets hear about 2005 and your game with Utah one more time.

You guys don't even know when postings are put up just to get a rise out of you..and it works! I have suspected that many postings for both sides are posted by opposing people just to get people to write in.

Seriously, Congratulations on the win! You deserved it and definitely were the better team this year. This Cougar fan wishes you great success in your BCS bowl!

Re: Little Brothers | 4:52 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
Please read "It's 2008" 11:06am and "Anonymous" 11:52. A good read and you just might learn something.

Well said.
Hello Mr. BYU | 4:53 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
Well aaaahh... mr "Class-less", if you take some time and poke around the internet, you will find that BYU fan sites are far more common than Utah sites that have detail after detail about the "Holy War" and cross over into areas outside of the sport . If your going to praise the "HOLY WAR" for the years that you win, you gotta be ready for the years that you lose.

The BYU mythology on Utah just keeps growing and growing with every lost. When I was there, the big myth was us throwing wine on the BYU vistors , like it was in the UTAH play book - not sure what started that. I really thought Wyoming fans picked on you more.
Chump? | 5:11 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
What imbicile called Brian J a Chump? He graduated from HS at 17, recovered from a career ending injury, won 20 of his 21 starts and played his last conference game at the age of 21. A chump is a BYU QB who goes on a mission (ever wonder why LDS kids seldom serve their country?), red shirts, grey shirts, hard ships twice then starts as a 25 year old with two years of eligibility. (apologies to Jimmy Mac and Steve Young who did it right). That my "I don't want to go in harm's way" friend, is a chump. Semper Fi
The tread has gone LOCO | 5:24 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
To all the BYU fans claiming religious persecution. Do you really think 99% of the fans are anti LDS??

Are you students at either school? Do you have any idea of the mix your talking about at either school?
These statements really sound clueless and un-educated.

You can't stop people who are neither alumi or students from watching the game and buying tickets and if they hate something, yeah maybe they'll say bad things, but to assume its tied to Utah students/alumi or staff is a shame. Please think about what your saying. Those kind of words would "hurt" a lot of Ute players as well. Its common knowledge that many Ute players have finished missions.

It's hilarious listening to the whiners from zooby-land. I have been to many a Utah-BYU game and a few Big Ten games and a few Packer games... you haven't begun to see fan abuse (try a Brewers/Cubs game, or go watch the Packers play in Chicago and wear your green and gold). So, quit yer whining, eat your crow and get holier than thou again next year....
