Huntsman is a new breed of "republican" governor that actually gets it. He appears to be moderate on most issues, and governs as a positive conservative. He's not an angry curmudgeon whose world view is shaped by a knee jerk reaction against the dreaded liberals. And even better, his family is so wealthy that he has no reason to compromise his principles for money. If the reactionary republicans can ever replace pr disasters like Darth Cheney, Grover Nordquist, and Ted Stevens, with the likes of Huntsman, they would dominate the political scene for decades to come.

Enter Waxman

With Henry Waxman having run rough-shod over John Dingell for CHairman of the Energy Committee in Congress, don't hold our breath about our nation doing anything about energy independent, and especially, anything to do with developing our own domestic oil resources, clean coal, or nuclear. remember the drilling moratorium off-shore that was lifted a coupld of months ago. Let's time and see how many days it takes for it to go back into place in January. Enjoy the $2 a gallon gas, folks, because with this crowd in control now, we're all along for the ideological ride of our lives. Better stock-up on regular made-in the USA lightblubs because before long, we'll be "forced" to buy $12 a piece environmentally correct twisty versions made in Communist China and that take 5 minutes to "warm-up" and create hazardous waste problem if broken. But that won't matter....Let's hope I'm wrong.

Gov. Huntsman is no more of a conservative than John McCain. That is why Huntsman supported McCain over Romney. We already see that Huntsman is being prepared by the media for higher office in 2012, Senator or higher. It has been the conservative Utah legislature that has been maintaining a positive budget position for Utah, not Huntsman, but it looks like he is getting credit for it.

He is not likely to run against Rep Matheson because they are birds of a feather, with no real differences. Even their last names have strong recognition, with "Huntsman" a better draw among the Mormons. Most Utah voters don't go much deeper than name recognition, and younger ones don't remember Gov. Matheson. Even so I think Gov. Huntsman is aiming for higher office than the U.S. House of Representatives

Good for Hunstman & Arnold realizing; 1) there is a 10th amendment & 2) that DC is a joke and taking the intiative in fixing a problem will only get worse.

From the campaign oratory we would have to expect no drilling and high gasoline prices rom Mr. Obama. A strong dollar could counter that. The big problem I see is how to stop importing from countries like Saudi Arabia that condone and foster militant Islam. I say put in solar, wind, geothermal, natural gas, microhydro, maybe we will need coal and nuclear, but I put them last.

re: Global Warming, reality vs Gore (he really did help us get the internet).

The earth gets cooler and warmer. IF you figure that WE are causing most of it, you have to take into account things most people don't.

0. The solar wind is at a 50 years low, which could cause global cooling.

1. The rain forests are critical. Burning and clearing rain forests are a bigger deal re: greenhouse gases than cars. Remember the Harrison Ford ad with the tape on his chest being ripped off?

2. You have to take into account that Methane Gas, (not burned) released in to the air is much worse than burning it. Methane gas is worse than CO2 re: "greenhouse" gases.

3. You have to take into account that methane released into the atmosphere often comes from several non-man sources:

Wetlands, cows belching, termites, permafrost, etc.

Most of us are willing to agree with cleaner air, water and land, that said, I am not worried about the CO2.

I am worried about the cow belching and termites.
