Fire at abandoned motel in Salt Lake City

Downtown is dotted with abandoned buildings like this, and the city seems to allow landowners to just let these structures rot. I hope the owner of this abandoned hotel is billed for the cost of suppressing this fire. He or she was negligent in keeping this derelict property secure, and the result was a fire that could have killed someone. The DV8 fire earlier this year was a similar major fire in a structure that had sat idle for years. It could have easily killed a firefighter. Which vacant structure will be the one that finally results in a tragedy?
