AK Cougar | 7:26 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Great game for the Cougars. The defense came and showed they can stop a decent offense. Max Hall spread the ball around and Collie was the #3 receiver on the day. Good offense.

Good luck to the Utes at SDSU. Please win to make next weeks game more enjoyable.

Every week the Ute fans blow off their mouths about a BYU loss and every week they have been wrong except TCU. They were going to lose to UNLV, New Mexico, CSU, Air Force, blah, blah, blah. Well Utes, BYU is 10-1 and 6-1 in conference play and coming your way. Let the fun begin on November 22. I don't know who will win, that's why they play the game and all your blow will have nothing to do with it.

Anbody notice LSU is behind 20-3 to TROY??? now that would be a whopper....goes to show anything can happen. As they say the ball isn't round!!!
finally, they did it!!!! | 7:55 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008

finally, BYU won a game against a team with winning record. Nice job!!!
re: nice defense | 7:57 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
We'll bring the same defense next week, and I am predicting here and now, the Utes won't do as well as the flyboys did, because the Utes aren't that disciplined or consistent on offense.

And the Utes have a great run defense. I predict we don't run very well on them.

So I think it comes down to: 1) can the Ute pass rush disrupt Max enough to derail the pass? TCU did. Utah won't. And 2), can the BYU defense stop Utah shy of field goal range for King Louie, because I think HE will end up being the difference in the game.
Congrats BYU! | 8:47 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
I was nervous you were going to lose to AFA at the half. This should help BYU move up in the rankings since they won, and NC lost. If BC holds on to their lead, they will beat Florida State, and that just might knock out all of the ACC out of the rankings! Oregon State beat California, and looks like they should win out to win the PAC 10. That should make the MWC look better. I expect Utah to beat BYU, but I think BYU should stay in the rankings. This will be great for the MWC to have three teams finish in the top 25!

After seeing both teams play several times, I am afraisd for the Utes, even at home.
Next week's a thriller | 9:09 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Given the outcome of today's games, Utah is almost over, next week's game is going to be a great one. I'm giving the edge to BYU.

You know who the real looser is next week? ESPN!

Utah vs BYU smack | 9:15 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Hey Utes, need I remind you that you've had only TWO outright conference championships since 1964??? 1964, let's see here. Most of the fathers of the players on the Utes roster weren't even born then, we were still 5 years out from the moon landing, the president was Lyndon Johnson, Muhammed Ali was still Cassius Clay, Bonanza was the top TV show, My Fair Lady was the top movie and the Beatles made their first tv appearance on Ed Sullivan!!! HAHA TWO OUTRIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPS SINCE THEN! Good for you Utah, even if you do beat BYU (which you won't) you'll still be the "red" headed step child when it comes to comparing yourselves to BYU in football.
Anonymous | 9:18 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Or is the real looser the MW Conference? I'm sure ESPN will be alright. They were alright before the MWC and I'm sure they'll still be alright
BYU FAN | 9:25 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Utah how in the heck can you say that BYU has played easy teams when your BCS run was against PITT i mean come on. Anyone could've beat Pitt by the way you will know what a one loss season feels like when a real offense plays you guys I mean trick plays. Come on they're fun and all but that just show's that you ain't got anything by the way have you seen justin sorensons leg ya that beats Queen Louie and Max hall is a much better QB than little baby johnson. But once again it will be a close one and BYU WILL WIN AGAIN BY BY BY BCS TO UTAH.
congratulation! | 9:27 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
BYU finally won a game against a team with winning record --it will be the only one though.
Maybe | 9:28 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
If BYU can get healthy, they have a better than 50 % chance of beating the U. Even if they are not healthy they have a 40 % chance.

Further, BYU could beat the U and AF could beat TCU. Now that really would be nice. Just a thought.

BYU will not go up much in the polls but thier computer ratings will go up.

If BYU beats the U, I suspect that they will get a very decent bowl bid. Maybe Utah will be in Vegas or the Pointsetta bowl?
Real Quest | 9:31 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
63-14, the true quest for perfection is alive and well. 12-0, Wow! what a record, it will feel so sweet. You know that sick feeling you had in your gut against TCU, it will feel worse next week. Good luck in the Poinsettia Bowl- first TCU, then Obama, now this, what a year!

guarantee a victory like he did at last year's pep rally on the Marriott Library plaza before the BYU game? I suspect he will, and I hope that BYU takes it to him. From a fellow BYU grad who also went to the U of U, I think he's the most overrated coach in America. Just watched how he beat up on SDSU to make up for the Utes' lackluster performances in the last two games. May he suffer the same treatment that he has dished out to others!
CougarOnTheProwl | 9:50 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Lets see, Ute fans are now 1 for 11 in predicting byu to lose. Every week we hear Ute fans running their mouths about how we have no chance and are going to lose. Well Ute fans how is the crow tasting tonight?

Nice win Cougars this one will be a confidence builder going into next saturday's game. It will be another dog fight until the end no doubt. We will just have to see what gives, BYU has the better offense and Utah has the better defense. But anything can happen in a big rival game like this, often times it comes down to the final play.

GO Cougars!
BleedCougarBlue | 10:02 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
If the Cougs play smart and with intensity, we can beat the Yewts. If we don't, they'll take it to us. Our defense is hurting a little so Hall and Company will have to provide us points when we need them.

I predict....

BYU 31 - Utah 24

The nice thing is that if the Cougars win, then we share the MWC title and, if Utah is overlooked by the BCS (doubtful, I admit with only one loss and being ranked as high as they are now) then Utah would have to play in the Vegas Bowl (big whoop!) and BYU could gain more exposure playing in the Poinsetta Bowl or somthing similar. Playing PAC-10 also-rans in Vegas gets us nowhere.
LOL | 10:04 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008

Oh yeah one more thing, you lost, BWAHAHAHAHAHA. Cougars lost Cougars lost. HAHAHAHAHA. This is the biggest joke of a team ever. You finally beat a team with a winning record. Wow. HAHAHAHA Congrats. Speaking of predictions you're 0-11 against the Utes! AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Utah.........BYU
OOC opponents: clearly advantage to Utah
Oregon St. > UCLA
Michigan...> Washington
USU........> USU (winning margin)
Weber St...> NIA
MWC opponents: sorry to say BYU has advantage here at the end of season:
--obviously the 7 common opponents have the same strength for both teams
--however, Utah is stronger opponent, so that gives BYU a huge advantage in SOS than Utah

Overall, Utah's SOS is still stronger than BYU's SOS.

To Dumb BYU Posters | 10:29 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
I am laughing at how many of you are basing the outcome of next weeks game on the fact that BYU beat Airforce by two touchdowns and Utah beat them by one. Wow! I guess the game is over- Should Utah even show up? Comparative scores are almost worthless- Why don't we talk about the TCU,CSU,and UNLV games? I won't becuase comparative scores don't mean that much. There are too many other variables and intangibles that go into play.

It should be a great game- Utah has speed and an incredible D and their offence is clicking. Please stop comparing today with a game Utah played almost three months ago. BYU fans should be a little brighter than that-

Who is going to be open on Saturday?
Nostracougus | 10:35 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
This season is playing out exactly as I have called it.

The Utes are on the verge of going to the BCS -- maybe even a Sugar Bowl date with Urban -- and talking all kinds of trash. Think about it, Cougar fans -- it could not set up any nicer than beating the Utes next week and seeing them drop from the Sugar Bowl to the Poinsettia.

To Mark in Peoria: Hahahahahahahahahahaha -- do you really think the Vegas Bowl would pass on an 11-1 (and higher ranked via the win over Utah) BYU??? Are you kidding? Keep dreaming. We all know Vegas is not going to take TCU and its traveling fanbase of 500?

Nothing will be funner than seeing Utah fall from the BCS to a third-tier bowl game. Hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahaha.

I'm calling my shot -- Utes to the Poinsettia Bowl. (Unless, and this IS a longshot, BYU's win is impressive enough to vault the Cougars over Boise State and into the BCS. In that case, Vegas would take Utah over TCU.)
Offense Clicking???? | 10:47 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Putting up 49 offensive points and 14 defensive points against SDSU doesn't make anyone forget about Utah's two 13 point outings the 2 prior games. BYU scored 7 and 21 against TCU/UNM and trust me no one felt like BYU was "clicking" offensively. Next week will be determined by which team comes out more aggressive and has the least mistakes(mainly TO's and penalties). Both teams had huge penalties and turnovers last year and they greatly influenced the game. (When Collie "threw" Mccain 30 yards on his 75 yard touchdown catch that was called back by an offensive pass interference. When Utah had a holding call on a touchdown run and an interception in the red zone). Small plays like these will influence the game more speculation drawn from common opponents.
That said, BYU's corners will finally not play off 15 yards and they'll force BJ to go deep which he can not do regularly. The d line will get pressure and ludwig will borrow the "annexation of puerto rico" from the little giants to try to get his offense clicking.

BYU fan here... | 11:09 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
75% of the posts on this board are embarrassing on both sides. The fan who can look at this game rationally is rare. BYU fans should face the fact that Utah is favored and has a better chance to win than we do. Does that mean BYU will lose, not necessarily. Were I a Utah fan, I would not want to play an Oklahoma or Texas in a BCS game. I would want a repeat of 2004 where you played a beatable team like Pitt. I think it will be a good game with Utah winning by 3-7 points. BYU will finish 11-2 for the third straight year (which I would take over Utah's once every five year teams) and Utah will go to a BCS and get beat by 14-28 points by a great team, or win a good game against a devent ACC or Big East champ. At the end of the day, the BYU sucks stuff is just dumb. You have two teams, BYU who has won 21 of 22, and Utah who has won 19 of 20. I hope BYU wins, but this is at home for Utah. Be reasonable, these are two good teams.
BCS | 11:10 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
If BYU beats Utah and Boise loses, BYU could go to a BCS bowl. Only two teams from each conference can go and BYU would be the highest ranked non BCS team. Even if Boise wins out BYU might have an outside shot at the BSC as both the Big East and ACC conf winners may not be in the top 16.
Favored | 11:14 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Utah has squeaked by 3 decent teams, OR state, TCU (at home) and AF. BYU has beaten AF. Both teams have looked good at times and bad at times. BYU should have at least a 40 % chance of winning. Both are probably over rated but someone has to be ranked.

Prediction: He won't be any more open then than he was the last time he was on the wacky turf at that second-rate stadium.

You Ute honks crack me up with all your "you just beat your first team with a winning record" smack. Ya know, it doesn't matter how many teams with a winning record you play -- just so long as your opponent is playing a team with a winning record.

Well byu fans there's nothing between you and the U now. Had your team done its job it would have been two unbeaten teams next week. But alas, TCU got in the way. So did your defense, or lack thereof.

Next week you will see once and for all that you can't win with no defense. Max Hall will spend half the game running for his life. Your not so prolific defense will spend the other half running after a Utah offense that is so much faster than those plow boys wearing y football helmets. After next week, Bronco can rethink his Mr. Spock approach to coaching while he mulls over his game plan for the New Mexico Bowl. In the meantime, you byu fans can spend time, in your mother's basement, in front of that byu shrine you wont tell anyone about.
Nov 22 Now! | 12:08 a.m. Nov. 16, 2008
Can't wait! I want BYU to win, but won't be unhappy with either outcome in reality. I only hope that either team doesn't blow out the other. I don't think there is any chance BYU will blow out Utah, but I can't say the reverse isn't a possibility. BYU's offence is very, very good. We'll just have to see how they stack up against a truly exceptional Ute defense. I predict a high scoring game on both sides, but don't know how to pick a side. I'me happy for both teams this year, both are deserving. BYU had one bad offensive outing this year at TCU. Utah should have lost to TCU were it not for a bad kicker, but them's the breaks. Utah is on one great role, and BYU's quest is back on track right now. I love rooting for both! But, BYU will always be my favorite. I hope this week goes fast because I can't wait for the big game!
