TCU is the Best in the MWC | 12:20 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Notice he said we are the team to beat, along with TCU not the U. We have a reputation, the U just got lucky against a better TCU team.
Anonymous | 1:19 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
I hope the Utes just mangle the Cougars next week. They are still such haughty little old men to the bitter end. It really makes me aggravated how puffed up they are. With the licking they took one would think they'd button it. But no--they're still spouting off. Go Utes and go TCU. Horsey boy's team is a pack of kitty litter.
gauchos | 1:29 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Come on now !! BYU got smoked by TCU while the UTES, despite not playing their best game, still rolled over the Frogs. You need to compare apples to apples and give UTAH their due, dude. Talk smack if your molasses-slow team happens to take off their cement shoes and they play the game that we Americans call football ! Oh by the way, don't hold your breath waiting for this to happen...the Greenland glacier called and thinks BYU is slow !!!

Im pretty sure he didn't say Utah was the team to beat because airforce already lost to them. Of course byu and tcu are the teams for them to beat since they are the only ones left to play. Also while Utah is surpasing the vegas bowl by playing at a BCS game (unlike tcu or the cougs) Airforce still has a shot at it. Your quite uneducated I must say.
Are you the same ... | 4:12 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
... Anonymous as posting 2 or are there just a bunch of anonymous Newt fans in here? After 22 Nov you Newts will be wearing bags on your heads when you go to the mall and to your Poinsettia Bowl re-match against Oregon State.
loving it | 4:34 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Zoobies are fun to read about and it will be even more fun watching our athletic Utes run circles around the clawless kittens. The only bright spot for BYU will be the food raid at the MTC cafeteria after the game where they will increase their line size (gee they sure are scary, but can't run), and take the fast track to diabetes. Delightful.
IT'S JUST A GAME! | 6:11 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Kill the hate! Get a life! It's just a game! You bitter Utes and Cougars kill me. Can't we all get along? They players do. The fans are horrible! Take your hate elsewhere.
East Coast Egghead | 6:38 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Unfortunately, my computer model calls this one for Air Force, with an 80% liklihood.
Nebraska Cougar | 6:48 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
What is it with Utah fans? One would think you have ADD or something as you don't seem to be able to stay on topic. This article is about BYU and Air Force. Take your medication and save the BYU-Utah trash talk for next week.
nackos | 7:00 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Ok gauchos, we will give the Utes some credit; however you need to check your comments as well. First off you said, "despite not playing their best game." Sounds like an excuse, to me good teams make other teams not play to their best ability; which was the case for both TCU and Utah when they played each other. Second you said, "still rolled over the Frogs." You honestly call 13-10 rolling over an opponent? I am just having a hard time believing that, if that is the case I guess the Utes have now "rolled over" two teams, TCU and New Mexico. To be honest, I am worried about the rivalry next week but realize anything can happen in a rivalry game; but dude don't give your team more credit than due.
Attn: Cougar Breaths | 7:04 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Get ready for loss # 2 today and # 3 next week, unless you start living right again.
To Gauchos: | 7:40 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Your sports psychology is way off for a game like this one. It doesn't matter who beat whom in the past--you can't compare it that way. What really matters is which team shows up ready for THIS game. I hope Coach Whittingham doesn't think the same way you do because I've witnessed coaches who have been foolish enough to compare past wins, and they've come out on the losing end!
RE:gauchos | 7:40 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
I'm not a BYU or Utah fan but to say Utah rolled over TCU is a joke..TCU lost the game, but by no means did Utah "roll" over TCU..Your getting a little ahead of yourself little gaucho..
HighHorse | 7:49 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
The Utes are simply over-rated. They have no home field advantage against the Cougars at RES. BYU's offense will win the day. The Ute offense will try to score one last drive to bring the score to respectibility. Cougars win 42-24.
Re: guachos | 7:54 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
The Utes 'rolled over the Frogs'? Are we talking about the same Utah-TCU game? First let me say that I was rooting for Utah in that game and was scared for most of the game that they were going to lose. Maybe you meant to say that the Frogs rolled over the Utes and Utah should be counting their lucky stars that TCU missed 2 field goals. At one point, midway through the 2nd quarter, I stopped paying attention to the game because I though it was simply a matter of time until TCU blew the game open. Utah couldn't stop TCU in the first half, and TCU had Utah's number on defense. Utah is lucky that game didn't get out of hand early on. Giving Utah their due (at least in terms of the TCU game) means saying they were downright lucky to win.
Re: TCU is the Best in the MWC | 7:55 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Yeah, I have to agree with Anonymous 1:30am, I think you, brother TCU is the Best..., read that comment with your heart and not your head.

Are you guys really up at 1:00am just to post on these boards? There is nothing you can do to influence the outcome of today's games.
BlueBoy | 8:20 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
I'll bet the BYU players' mindset is this is a BIG game that they "can't afford to lose."

I'll bet the AFA players' mindset is this is a BIG game that they are "determined to win" because they haven't in awhile.

If those are indeed the mindsets, BYU loses. If not, BYU wins, sans dumb turnovers. BYU's offensive weapons should overbalance AFA's, and the defenses (recently, at least), appear even against the offenses they'll see today.

BYU needs to keep their future goals alive by having the right attitude today. None of this workman-like stuff. GET UP, GUYS!

BYU has more at stake than this year's goals (MWC championship, etc.). Recruiting can be hurt by a poor showing at year's end. A lot more is at stake in today's game than will be at Utah next week, in this respect. Losing to AFA will hurt recruiting more than losing to Utah, who'd go to a BCS bowl if they don't stumble at SDSU today.

Oddly, for BYU, winning out could possibly get them into a BCS bowl if Boise State loses this week or next. But not winning out drops them to an insignificant bowl. OUCH!
Matthew | 8:24 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
To Anon 1:30. Your points are fair, but what do you know about another poster's education? Call them uninformed or stupid, but "your (sic) quite uneducated" doesn't hit home.
Anne | 8:28 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
To: TCU is the best in the MWC

Must you make all BYU fans look like idiots? It is only obvious he didn't say Utah was the team to beat because the Falcons have already lost to them. He is hoping they can win out against TCU and BYU.
Stenar | 8:43 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
After BYU lost to TCU, they almost got beat by the next two WEAK teams they played. BYU isn't very good... definitely not top 25.
Whoa there my little yewties | 9:01 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Let's talk "apples and apples" there gauchos! Since you apparently like to play word games, lets begin with Utes rolling over TCU like TCU rolled over BYU. Really now? Over 400 yards for TCU vs 275 for Utah. Literally winning in the last minutes. Great game, but rolling over.

BYU having to play at TCU, while Utah was fortunate enough to play TCU in Salt Lake. Hey, it was you that wanted apples and apples.

So, how about waiting until next Saturday and lets see what happens? Afterall that's why we play the game or something trite like that.

Enjoy this next week in the sun-since you will have plenty of time to eat crow for the following 364 days. You may want to bring a little salt, as crow is pretty bitter.
Jason | 9:04 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
"horsey boys team is a pack of kitty litter" Either you are in the third grade, or that is "your" university of utah degree shinning through. The utes have not won a thing.
Team B, can you do it??? | 9:09 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008

Can you promise a win?
we want you still in...
top 20 ranking,
so we can kick your little shin...

Can you do it???
Can you get a win?

Go Cougars!
TED | 9:22 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
YOU SEE WHY UTAH FANS HATE BYU? EVEN WHEN UTAH IS BETTER THAN BYU, OTHER TEAMS TALK ABOUT BYU. YOU THINK UTE FANS WILL EVER GET IT?
Nostrabowlgameus | 9:45 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
MWC bowl shakeout after BYU beats Air Force and Utah:

Las Vegas: BYU (unless, of course, Boise State loses)

Armed Forces: TCU

Poinsettia: Utah

Humanitarian: Air Force

Utah goes from verge of BCS to third-tier bowl game after Gary Anderson drops 10 Utes into pass coverage on the final play of the game but forgets to assign someone to cover Austin Collie.

Bonus prediction: Even more Ute fans will actually learn the correct spelling of Poinsettia due to frequent visits by their team.
Hey Ewetes | 9:49 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
We are that much closer to coming for you. Watch out baby! The Cougars will prevail. We are just waiting and when the moment comes we will pounch and jump all over you. That moment is next Saturday at the 2002 Winter Olympic Stadium. BYU will win. Be afraid, very afraid!
akk | 10:21 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Go Air Force!!!!!!!!! Great young men....Great fans.... They see this as what it is a football game... not their proof of importance... or moral superiority
Ute Hawk | 10:23 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
You know that BYU is overlooking Utah so they can prepare more for the Utes. They already lost their chance at a conference title and a BCS, so now all they care about is spoiling it for the Utes. I hate to tell you the truth Kitty Cat fans but even with your extra preparation for the Utes, They are too fast, and you are too slow. You have the slowest secondary and offensive line in the nation.

Airforce 30 - BYU 24
Utah 42 - BYU 14 and BCS bound.

BYU goes to new mexico bowl and loses again like they always do in bowl games.
RE Nostrabowlgameus | 10:47 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Pretty sad these are the only bowls games the mighty MWC can get into. Or is it that MWC is overrated and their SOS is weak compared to the real world
Re: Nostrabowlgameus | 11:26 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008

Pretty sad...that Cougar keep on dreaming of a win --a win that they will not get this year.

Pretty sad, pretty sad, indeed.
MWC at the end of 2008 season | 11:33 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008

Utah 8-0 12-0 Fiesta Bowl
TCU 7-1 11-1 LV Bowl
AFA 6-2 9-3 Armed Forces Bowl
BYU 5-3 9-3 Poinsettia Bowl
CSU 4-4 6-6 New Mexico Bowl

Bear Laker | 11:39 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
I can't believe all the Yewts that do not live in the real world. If there are any haughty people in the football world it is the yewts. BYU can share the conference title by winning out. If they do the ywets will not go to a BCS bowl. And BYU will not if BSU wins out. Maybe Ball state will go. Wake up yewts. Get you facts straight. You have had an extreme amount of good luck this year. Your offense is at best mediocre. TCU except for a couple of plays late made you look like little league. If their kicker had of had his usual consistency you would have one loss now. I won't go into all of your other lucky games. You are not a top 7 team. I don't care where you are ranked currently. It is because of you inflated egos and your haughtyness that you WILL go down on the 22nd. That and the courgars are better.
Go courgars. Kick the yewts where it hurts most, out of the BCS bowl picture.
BYU vs. AF today | 11:45 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Why are there so many Utes on this blog? Isn't this a game against AF and BYU? Wow, even Ute fans realize that it's more fun to keep up with BYU than their own team.

Good luck to our guys today! This is going to be a great game since the guys on both sides are doing extraordinary things with their lives.
Don't be Jealous | 11:48 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Us little Yewties will be sending your school a large check. It's more than you'll make in San Diego or Albuquerque or back to the scene of the crime in Ft. Worth.

Air Force 41
BYU 34

Re its just a game | 11:57 a.m. Nov. 15, 2008
I hate when people complain about trash talking and remind us that its just a game. We know its just a game; however, we think speculating, trashtalking, and degrading the other team is completely acceptable in sports. Without passion this game is stupid to watch. Do I hate Utah? Absolutely, I hope they lose every single game until the day I die. But I do not hate anybody personally or in any other setting off the field. Utah is overated and will lose to BYU for the 3rd straight year, while BYU gets its 3rd straight title and 3rd straight bowl victory in sin city. Utes will win their 21rst straight bowl game in the poinsettia bowl.
Re; Bear Laker | 12:09 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Bear Laker is whining. Waah, waah, waah! When you have a great defense, you make your own luck. The kittens have played one tough team this year and were neutered. In fact, the only team you have beaten with a winning record is a division 1-AA team. Today is your second tough game and it feels similar to the TCU game. The kitty nation can feel it as well. Nervous? They should be. Air Force is more disciplined and will give the kittens their second loss and take them out of the top 25. I will be wearing my red tie to church tomorrow. I expect a few of my fellow cougars are feeling the flu coming on about now.
casual fan | 12:19 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Neither BYU nor Utah would ever win a conference chamionship if they played in the PAC 10, Big 10 or any other major conference. They are fine in their league and fun to watch. So is Air Force.
speedy TCU | 12:49 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
I keep reading that BYU was just not as fast as TCU, I conceed that point...now BYU beat TCU two years in a row 2006 and 2007. The TCU of those two years was pretty much the same type of team and with the same type of atheletes. In 2005 TCU beat BYU by one point and I must say they were fast than. So when BYU lost this year, although speed played a factor, it was not the entire factor. Lets play that game again, this year...BYU would most likley win. Get off this that some how TCU is so much better than BYU, and for that matter that faster than Utah, Kudos to all three teams they are sure fun to watch!!!!
Maybe, certainly NOT | 1:17 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
BYU wins today, Maybe. Next week, NO WAY. Repeat after me, BYU has ZERO ZILCH, ZIP, NONE, NADA chance against the far, far, far, far, superior Utah squad. Nobody in the whole wide world except luny coug fans think BYU will even stay close 50. 60 70 to 0 is probably an accurate prediction. I think BYU should just kneel down and say " we worship ye great and mighty Utes" "we give you this trophy and our manhood and say, we are NOT worthy to play"
Little Jimmy | 1:24 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
"As the Cougars have learned, particularly in recent weeks, they are in every opponent's crosshairs"

You zoobs sure are puffed up'''STOP thinking so highly of yourselves...You are not GOD's gift to the world or football...LAY HALL OUT!!!
Utes reality? | 1:44 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
I love the mentality of the "Yewt" fan. Let's examine it closely shall we? That way we can all learn to live happily in our little worlds. I think it's fair to say that the "Yewt" fans are an optomistic sort of bunch. They can be dominated by an opposing team on stats, and, solely, by the, fluke, lousy kicking game of the opposing team, make it sound like they "make their own luck". With nothing else to prove their rankings in the BCS top 10, they truly ARE the luckiest team in college football. I will go as far as to say that Louie "makes" their luck. Heck, Louie IS their team. Fortunately for the "Yewts" his skill outweighs how lousy their offense is. The last thing that we'll notice is how, despite losing the last 2 CONSECUTIVE seasons to their "little brother", they are still so full of themselves. TOTAL disregard for reality. Hey "Mighty YEWTS", I don't care about your BCS game, we've got a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! Keep living in your happy little world where there's no chance of being let down because when you come back to reality, you'll cry like a little baby. GO COUGARS!
Re: Utes Reality | 3:14 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Sound like you're jealous. I forgot the score. Aren't we 10-0. You lost to the only team you've played with a winning record. I forgot that you beat a div 1-aa team with a winning record. Talk about overrated. Defense creates luck.

Halftime at AF. AF 14-Kewgies only 10. OUCH! Another team with a winning record. OUCH! Be ready for your humble pie. It's coming. BYU could be eliminated from the conference champ this afternoon. I'm raising my Ute flag right now.

utehater | 5:23 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Ouch is right...there's the end of the game all you yewts said we'd get destroyed in. After all, the mighty U had trouble with AF, so wouldn't BYU? As it turns out...not so much. Since I know how much you all have enjoyed playing the "let's compare winning scores" game, let's see...you couldn't put 38 points on AF? Oh, we did with our overrated offense. You held AF to 23 points with your blazing speed on defense? Our "molasses slow" defense held 'em to 24. Keep on hating guys, you still got spanked the last 2 years (and you better wish an open Harline would be all you'd have to worry about) and we're coming for you again.
re utehater | 10:20 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
Well ok kitten if you want to play then it's on I guess. You guys did beat AF and NM by more granted, but then Utah beat down CSU and SDSU by A LOT more. One more to count in. The kittens got neutered by TCU, the Utes won. Fun game, I like it :)
Red Man | 9:29 p.m. Nov. 16, 2008
Utah is headed to the BCS. It is a sure thing no matter what the Cougs can fantasize. No a chance in a million that BYU has even a prayer shot on 11/22. Sweet dreams little ones the curtain is falling.
