Should be another Classic next week. Go Miners. Soffe is the best QB in the state. He doesn't get the Pub because he doesn't pass the ball as much as some of the others out there. He rarely makes a mistake and his passes are very accutrate.
Langi is the best running back in the state ahd #32 is by far the best defender on the team. For a kid that size to be the team leader in tackles...That is truly amazing. Good job Keith. Keep it up for one more week.
If the Miners can pressure the Alta QB I think they have a shot. The Miner pass defence is still a little suspect, but they have been improving since week one.
My prediction is Bingham 35 Alta 24. But, don't go by my prediction because I am a Bingham Homer and I want the Miners to Roll!
This is great. The two best teams in 5A match up.
New York Giants states, you don't need a perfect season to win a championship.
Go Miners ! ! !
Hey Eagles: Looks like all that outside recruiting didn't work out so well...huh?
I am with you in regard to #32 Keith Sasine. That kid is a beast and doesn't get NEAR the credit he deserves. By far the best linebacker on the team and we have some good ones. He is fearless!
Soffe is a very good high school quarterback but will struggle in college if he goes to a D1 because of his size (height and frame). I have heard he is a good baseball player as well - his size is probably better suited for that.
If Langi gets 100 yards next week the Miners will win pretty easily if not, it will be a fight to the end. He is very talented and Bingham's offense has become very reliant on his production.
The pass defense has been improving in every game and will hold its own against a VERY good passing team. Alta's quarterback will get more pressure from Bingham he has seen all year included the first game against Bingham. He won't be able to run at will like he did against Syracuse and Jordan.
Should be a good one - GO MINERS!!!!
to the person who asked me if i was on crack because i said John Lambourn was one of the best offensive minds in the state. TOLD YOU SO!!!!! and i'm still not a Bingham fan nor am I an Alta fan, just know Lambourn is good.
Just glad to see Skyline knocked out! Go miners....Taylorville Alumn.
We knew you were going to be playing for the state championship since you were 8 years old! I stayed for the Alta game and noticed that they pass alot and for years I remember my husband talking about their running back and how good he was? My husband went out of town this week so he would be here next week so I was wondering if he moved or what?
Would have to respectfully disagree with you regarding Soffe and D1 potential. Any quarterback that can lead his team to a 5A state championship in the manner in which he did (stats, margins of victory, leadership, performance) should do fine at a D1 school. You are correct in stating he is a good baseball player.
Agree with you about Sasine. What a maniac! His heart, drive, and talent make up for his size.
Also agree with GO MINERS!
Good job Miners! I was there for both games and liked what I saw. Given Skyline was missing 6 starters I expected the score to be a little more lopsided but it was still a nice pounding. Well done on holding up your end of the deal now we get a best 2 out of 3 game for the trophy! See you in a week
That is the funniest thing I have ever heard. You can call everyone of his plays from the stands. Even Bingham fans would admit that. Anyone could be Bingham's O coordinator and score points. I equate him to being Tiger Woods caddie. They have a great line and great athletes and really only need a coach with half a brain to get points on the board. It also makes it very easy to score touchdows when you only have to go 40 yards on every drive just like they did in this game. Their longest drive was 51 yards!!! Every possession that started on their half of the field ended in either a punt or a turnover. I guarantee this board will be crawling with Bingham fans complaining about the offensive play calling after they lose to Alta. If Skyline didn't give you some serious gifts in the first quarter this game may have been a toss up. Alta won't fumble the first play of the game, won't punt the ball 10 yards every time and won't go for it on their own 29 after being down by just 10 points. Those are gifts not something Bingham forced.
I am arguing with the numbers Soffe has put up and the victories he has compiled this year. He is having a tremendous year. I am talking about his build. I have a son who played quarterback and is of the same frame (maybe a little thicker) and close to the same skills. He tried to walk on at the U in football and turned down a couple of baseball opportunties only to be out of sports by the end of fall camp. He just couldn't handle the beating he was taking at the next level. Look at Ammon Olson - 6' 4" and a wide frame. He is better suited for the next level. I am not saying it is not possible - if that is his dream than have him go for it. I just hope he can endure a lot of pain - my son couldn't. He should have kept baseball as an option.
Word has it your boys are scared to play the mighty miners... and thats coming from your own players, fans and students...... lets just wait till the game and skip all the trash talk.
He looks very good with a fantastic running game behind him. If he had to put the team on his shoulders and pass his team to victory Bingham would not be very good. The run sets up the pass.
SIZE??????
Head to head QB - Olson over Soffe
BHS OL - over Alta OL
Parker Webster - head and shoulders over yack
Langi - no contest
Defense BHS vs Alta = toss up
Going to be a great game!!!
I agree that lambourne isn't the best but in regards to you saying it could have gone either way if skyline didn't mess up. Same goes to alta with syracuse Bingham wont fail to capitalize in the red zone like syracuse did several times. And yes alta has been making fumble mistakes maybe not on the first play but maybe on a punt or run. Be looking for the bingham - alta game to be very close. I expect both teams to make big mistakes that will cost them.
Were not scared. It'll be a good game like always but were certainly not scared. What fans have you been talking to? We've been looking forward to this all season!
GOOD LUCK BOYS!!!!! THE GLORY DAYS ARE HERE AND NOW! BECAUSE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL NOBODY CARES...ENJOY THE RIDE!! THEN MOVE ON AN GET REAL LIFES AND GO TO COLLEGE FOR AN EDUCATION OR FIND A JOB AND DISCOVER WHO YOU REALLY ARE NOT WHO YOUR DADS WANT YOU TO BE. I HOPE YOU FOOTBALL DADS CAN TAKE UP SOME NEW HOBBIES LIKE YARD WORK OR FISHING. GOOD LUCK TO BOTH ALTA AND BINGHAM AND TRY TO REMEMBER WIN OR LOSE YOU ARE ALL WINNERS FOR GETTING THIS FAR
And if it so easy to see the play Bingham is going to run, how come nobody has been able to stop them? Dope. It's not Bingham's fault Skyline can't punt. Oh and how many turnovers did Alta have against Davis again? Six wasn't it? So don't get too sure about them not fumbling the very first play. Yes they did force that first fumble and the fumble at the end of the game as well. We will see how many they force against Alta.
To Bingahm fans. John Lambourne is one of the best individuals I have ever met. You sons, neighbors, and players are better people because of him and Dave Peck. Feel lucky you have the coaches you do and cherish them. I believe Bingham will win the State title this year, but if they don't they can always say I played for John Lambourne and Dave Peck, by far one of the best coaching tantums to ever coach high school football in Utah. Good Luck John and Dave.
I give the passing Edge to Alta! In yards only! Soffe may be a little thin in his build but he is a smart QB who doesn't make mistakes. Maybe he'll get creamed if he plays D1 but I think he's one of the state best when it comes to his decision making on the field in the heat of battle. He shredded Skylines Defence. He also has a fair, at best receiving corp, and he finds them with pin point precision. Edmunds, Peck, Allen, and Green are all smart receivers and catch the ball when it's thrown to them. None of them are so called big time receivers but they GET IT DONE! PERIOD. As Binghams line has improved throuhout the year so has the passing game. As for the Defence I expect Parker Webster to have a field day on Friday. He made the Miners D Backs look silly in the first game. The miners have no "shut down" DB and can be hurt. However, with Alta's lack of a running game I think The Miners will come away with the title 44-27.
Should be a classic
