I'm so tired of media heaping negative comments toward RSL. Anyone who has ever played a sport knows that luck is always involved in going all the way. The Utah football team (and I'm a huge Utah fan) lucked out against tcu but the fact is that they won and so has RSL. Why can't we just jump on the train and show our support. This is a golden opportunity that only 4 other teams in the mls have a chance for. Writers are simply want-to-be's that never made it or don't understand it so they knock it. Go Real!! and Go Utes!!

Wasn't there an article before the playoffs started that mentioned how RSL was in it to win it, not to just make the playoffs? I believe that makes this article's statements invalid to an extent. Against Chivas, RSL looked like a team I have never seen play. They are playing at a very high level and will win it all if they keep it up. GO RSL.

If you love soccer do not post a comment to this article. Let my comment be the last for soccer fans. The best thing to do with Brad Rock is to ignore him and hopefully he'll go away.

i cant believe this is really happening!! im not sure which i would be more excited about: playing in the mls cup or playing in next years champions league! wow, we have made some huge leaps and bounds this year, kries is definetely the man for the job! a home game for the conference finals!? are you kidding me? who wouldve guessed. sooo excited! ps- if mathis scores the game winning goal ill never say anything negative about him again.
Don't worry about it | 8:56 a.m. Nov. 12, 2008
Texas Utah fan, don't worry so much about it. Brad Rock writes like 1 soccer article a year. He doesn't know soccer or even like it - whenever there's a big game he just drops by the stadium, collects a few soundbytes, and then passes himself off as an expert when he writes the article. Those in the know locally don't consider him to be even a small part of the local soccer press - James Edward, John Coon, Dan Rasmussen, and others are more respected soccer writers.

Brad Rock should go back to reporting on high school football....he's much better at it and we don't need him covering RSL.

This is going to be an awesome game!!!! We have been watching, waiting, cheering, and now we will revel in glorious semi-final match!!! Go RSL!!!

I like our chances Saturday, and with all the momentum and the confidence our players are having right now, I like our chances to win it all. This is an exciting time to be a Real fan. those of us who have stuck with them through the rough times, how good does this feel?!

Don't forget the Grizzlies won a title in their first season here.
Cheap tickets | 9:50 a.m. Nov. 12, 2008
they need to sell all the tickets for $20 and fill up the stands
Brad Rock | 9:55 a.m. Nov. 12, 2008
Unfortanetly most of his articles are negative, and I personally don't like how he writes. We will win on Saturday, and we will win the cup, and this state will finally have a professional title in it's possession.
This season | 10:38 a.m. Nov. 12, 2008
The progression this year has been obvious to anyone who has followed the team. In years past RSL just plain sucked. My brother and I would watch every game we could and simply expect some defensive gaff to lose the game..
This year has been very different, we've still left a lot of points on the table but have dominated the majority of play..While the team wasn't without gaffs this year (CHIVAS) we pretty much played well against everyone at one time or another. Dominate possession and kill RBNY.

Thanks Brad, I am glad to see even you supporting RSL. Thanks again.

I did'nt pick up a negative feel from this article. I think we are all so used to seeing a negative article from Rock that we automatically asume that it is. The last couple of articles he has written have been pretty decent. More objective really, not soccer hater, but honest.
re: Brad | 11:24 a.m. Nov. 12, 2008
Sorry, but the 1st professional title was already won by the Utah Stars of the ABA, followed by titles won by the Gulls, Trappers, Golden Eagles and Grizzlies.
History | 11:36 a.m. Nov. 12, 2008
RSL has NEVER beaten the New York Red Bulls...
Of course, Chivas has historically dominated us as well...
Its time to change those two things, in one season, and make a cup birth against either the YMCA boys or Mr White and co

None of those teams you listed play at the highest level in the US within their respected sports.
The MLS is the highest level of soccer in the US.
re: re: | 2:03 p.m. Nov. 12, 2008
True, but the RSL spokesman at their press conference said it would be the city's first professional championship, if they were to win it. The teams I mentioned were all professional.

re: re: re:

Good point! It wasn't meant to offend other sports in this city though. I support any sports teams we have in this state (Semi Pro all the way to Pro) because it brings revenue to our state, more recognition (this could eventually lead to other Top tier leagues one day), and much more. GO RSL!!! Even if you lose, I will always back up our teams. Through good and bad.
It ins't Brad's fault | 5:42 p.m. Nov. 12, 2008
I can clearly see why people get frustrated with Brad Rock. You can't blame him. You have to blame the people who hire him. The article is not negative. But it does show a lack of interest and knowledge about soccer.
GO RSL. And anyone who thinks AAA or Pioneer League baseball is professional has little knowledge of the hell those players go through. It is more like slavery than a profession.
Go RSL. This is very exciting. I bought my tickets in the nose bleed section. It is all I can afford. But the view is great. Go RSL.

I'm going to be watching my grass grow that night. Soccer is a close second to that activity though.
Hmmmm... | 10:27 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Watching grass grow is kind of like watching American football. Very slow process but steady.

Congrats RSL, I'll be rooting for you from KC! I really like what Jason Kreis has done for your team. I'd love to see you guys make it to the Champions League next year and a win on Saturday will do it.
