Smoke & Mirrors

"People seem to be liking Max, - people didnt have much of a choice. The 3,250 people riding this Max were already riding the local route 35 when it came by every 15 min. UTA spent a lot of money on nothing. This is nothing more than smoke an mirrors.

I don't mean to

burst UTA's bubble, but here's what the UTA spokesperson didn't tell you: each of the new "Max" buses apparentally cost .5 mill. each. UTA bought 12 new ones for Max. Yes, they are nice buses but simple math tells me they have over 6million in just the cost of the buses, besides the new lane the state is building and all the new kiosks that have been put up to sell tickets. You can make an AWFUL LOT of extra trips with the old buses for 6mill. I ride Max every day and the ONLY reason I ride Max is because it happens to stop where I'm going. I don't see that it's much faster,(if at all) except that fewer wheelchair riders ride it because they have to go to a major intersection to get it. I also don't understand where UTA gets their ridership numbers because MANY riders never buy tickets. (It works like TRAX but I've NEVER seen a transit cop checking tickets.) My point is that the "spin" UTA puts on things is not always the WHOLE story!

UTA needs more oversight from the cities who appoint the board members.

Its YOUR tax dollars being used!

Not smoke and mirrors. Since Max makes fewer stops, it is faster, and will be faster still once it gets dedicated lanes.
