"They come here to feel the Spirit," Janson said, pointing out that the evils that confront young people aren't absent in north Florida. But institute is a spiritual shield against such things for those seeking the benefits of an education there."

So...football is evil? I'm trying to understand this story. It's a "Safe Haven" for LDS during football, and then is said to help shield them from evils.

What am I missing here?

What are you missing here? Maybe cognitive skills.

They are not refering to football as evil, but the evil things of the world (pornography, drugs, alcohol, bad music, movies and other entertainment, etc.) from which these institutes provide a safe haven. They are havens all year long, it is just the current season (Football) that gives rise to the timing of the story.

They should have given it another heading, since the story and the title don't match up.

Nice, btw. Whoever you are, just had to be rude about it.

Rudeness has nothing to do with it. I admit the headline is misleading, but try reading the whole story next time. it is clear from the story what they are talking about.

I apologize for my insensitive comment. I was just frustrated by the many comments that I read on here that make it obvious that the commentor has not read the complete article. It was wrong of me. Once again, I apologize.
